BMX bikes have come a long way over the past 20-30 years, from rattling 1 Inch Threaded Headsets and shin searing Beartrap Pedals to investment-cast Dropouts and Pivotal Seats. Along the way there have been several products which have been instrumental to the improvement of our bikes, and at the top of that list is the Profile Cassette Hub. 15 years ago the guys at Profile took a technology used on high-end road bikes and used it to create, what is still to this day one of the most reliable and functional Bicycle Hubs in existence. This week I catch up with Profile Racing‘s Matt Coplon and Corey Alley to find out more about the beginnings and background story one of the most iconic products in BMX. After you check out the interview, don’t forget to check out the PHOTOGALLERY showing you the history of Profile’s hubs!
TBR – Occupy Tampa
Matt Coplon just sent through the newest Tampa Bay Riders edit that’s filled with goodness. Enjoy this!
“ Politics are heating up in Tampa. But its best to hang out in the shadows, jibbing on some spots in the cut. Here’s a collection of clips captured over the past couple months. Locals include: Dustin Carbonaro, Forrest Roberts, Scott Ehlert, Matos Goodwin, Nails, Matt Coplon and Matt Arnold. And thanks to contributions from this season’s visitors: Rob Dolecki, Keith Mulligan, Cody Belcher, and Mike Meister. Enjoy Tampa.”
TBR – The Matt’s Sunday Sessions
Matt Coplon and Matt Arnold are back at it with a fresh new edit from Tampa Bay. Good spots, good riding and good times. This is sweet!
“Filmed mostly on Sundays, here is a collection of clips on some new and some not so new spots in Tampa. A visiting creative eye, some construction, or something getting temporarily moved out of the way in the urban jungle can make for an new, interesting spot. Nothing ground breaking, just the celebration of new jibs found in the shadows of Tampa Bay. Enjoy.

Insight: Profile Racing’s Push For U.S Job Creation
It’s weird to think how as you get a little older, boring things like politics and economics start becoming interesting. I’ve recently been hearing more and more things that lead me to believe that production in the U.S is coming back. Now, that might not matter to most of you who don’t have your license, a job or pay for your own parts, but it’s a good sign that someday, you might not have to worry about what you are going to do for a job and that you won’t have to hear depressing news on TV everyday about how “they” took our jobs. After reading why Sunday chooses production in Taiwan on ESPN as a response to another article on ESPN about the cost difference between U.S and Taiwan made frames, Matt Coplon and I began discussing the perks to Profile and Madera being made in the U.S versus Taiwan, and how because of this, they are creating around 25 jobs for people between the in-house employees, freelance and outsourced help. Let’s take a closer look at what it takes to run an in-house production BMX brand in the U.S…
