So many kids feel like pros have some magical super high end bikes that let them ride at such a top level. In reality many pros actually have broken down, unmaintained bikes because little details don’t matter to them. So I think it’s rad that the Volume guys got on some stock Volume 2013 completes and shut it down just the same as they would on their own bikes. So basically, if you don’t think your bike is good enough, go buy a Volume complete and shred!
Through The Lens – Breakfast with Alistair Whitton
Alistair Whitton is a rider that I’ve always looked up to. He’s always had his own unique style, and his own way of doing things. Being from England and being stuck riding inside gave him the drive to progress and eventually make his way to the states well over a decade ago. He actually came to America for the first time as a Camper at Woodward. That eventually led into being an employee, and then after proving himself to be worthy as a rider, he became a live-in pro. He’s had quite the career in BMX. He has ridden nearly every major contest across the globe, road tripped more times than he can count and currently has his sights set on stunt work at the moment. Alistair is looking to move to the next stage and use what skills he has gained from riding over the years while he is training hard to learn new techniques to put to use as well. He has already done work in a few big name movies and plans to continue on the fast track to being a legit stuntman. When you hear him talk about it you can tell that he wants to make it happen. He’s the type of person that I would take his word on it, especially after seeing what he can do on a BMX bike. It’s only a matter of time before we’re all at the theatre stoked to see a fellow BMX’er on the big screen chasing his dreams. I ended up cruising over to his house yesterday morning and hung out while he was making breakfast and getting his day started. I asked him what kind of interview he wanted to do; he said just hit record so that’s exactly what we did and this is what came of it.

Red Bull – Ride and Seek: San Diego with Garrett Reynolds
Red Bull dropped the 3rd episode of Ride and Seek! This week they introduce you to Garrett Reynolds (Well… to everyone who doesn’t know who he is), get a few riding clips and talk a little bit about what BMX is all about to him. There’s a ton of dialed riding mixed in for good measure making for one hell of a video worth watching!
“Corey Martinez heads down to San Diego to meet up with Garrett Reynolds for some BMX sessions around the city. After a solid day of riding, Corey decides to pop the ultimate question: Will Garrett join him and Tony Neyer on their motorcycle expedition from Nashville to Florida?“

Insight: Shadow Conspiracy – Slide Or Die Pegs
Over the course of the past few years, we’ve seen a large amount of plastic and nylon start appearing on BMX bikes from pedals to hub guards, bar ends, seat posts and pegs. These options have helped keep the weight of bikes down, private property from being destroyed, skaters from complaining (… sort of) and in some cases, keep you from more pain that you would have suffered from some metal pedals blasting you in the shin.
It seems like plastic pegs have been one of those pieces that everyone has been putting a ton of focus into the past two years and there have definitely been a lot of advancements and really good options made available to help you get your grind on. One of the newer options coming along in October is Scott Ditchburn’s signature Slide or Die pegs from The Shadow Conspiracy, the second plastic peg option from the brand since their original Slicker sleeves.
With the completion of the peg wrapping up and the first batch about to be dropped on the BMX world, we figured it would be an awesome time to catch up with them to find out just what makes these pegs unique from what’s already on the table. Let’s take a closer look!
Deluxe – “Part Deux” Pinard
Oh hell yeah! It’s Tuesday! That means Deluxe have another section from their DVD “Part Deux” for you to enjoy! This section takes us to the Pinard Trails in France! Hit that play button for some dirt goodness.
“Stop two on the French Deluxe trip for PART DEUX was Pinard Trails. Not a regular hit on most trips, but this place is so dialled, the locals are rad, and the lines run fast.
For our second full-length film, we decided to mix things around from Welcome To Deluxe. This time out we ventured to some choice spots that our team riders created and nurture on a daily basis – from Southern California to Pennsylvania, from the Midlands of England to Southern France. We also took the team on tour to discover new spots, cook up some lines, throw some shovel-loads, and have a good time. Because that’s what we’re all about… enjoy.
