Jack Gruber 2017 Video

April 17, 2017

Here’s a short but sweet BMX video from the streets of Australia featuring Jack Gruber going to work on spots for Odyssey and Back Bone BMX! Don’t let this one fool you. It might be just short of a minute long, but there isn’t much filler. Jack slays a bunch of rails and puts his pegs to good use on a handful of spots in that short time! Take a peek!

Odyssey BMX – Path Pro Tire

April 5, 2017

The new Path Pro Tire from Odyssey has arrived…

Odyssey BMX Path Pro Tire Bike Bicycle

It looks like Odyssey have decided to revive their classic Path Tire with a new, modern look! The new Path Pro Tire is based off the classic from the early 2000’s with a similar directional tread pattern and smooth center for less rolling resistance and micro-knurling on the side blocks for extra traction. This tire is made from a proprietary rubber compound that has improved grip and wear resistance with dual ply sidewalls for increased strength.

The Path Pro Tire comes in 2.25″ and 2.40″ sizes, has a 100 Max PSI rating, weighs in at 26.7 oz. (2.25″) and 27.8 oz. (2.40″) with black for the only color option for now. You can pick the tire up for $25.99 through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Odyssey worldwide now.

Since this is an actual concern for some of you… The Path Pro Tire DOES squeak.

Talk about a blast from the past.. You could find Path tires on my bike back in the day, so this is pretty rad to see it making a comeback with a modern twist. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!

Odyssey BMX – Broc Raiford Passageways Video

March 24, 2017

The other day Odyssey dropped a teaser video for Broc Raiford‘s new Passageways video that he has been working with Mike Mastroni on. Since that dropped, we have been anticipating the heat this one was going to bring. The BMX video just dropped and sure enough, Broc has come through with some heavy hammers from the streets of Long Beach that will get you stoked and get your weekend started off right! Get on that play button because this is a Must See video! Amazing riding, great spots and some dialed film work.

“Earlier this year I brainstormed with the guys over at Odyssey about video project ideas for 2017. We agreed on doing a concept-based video to switch things up from the traditional web edit style. Mike Mastroni was brought into the picture as our filmer and to help us make a decision on what the most interesting concept would be. Ultimately, we chose to do a video composed entirely of riding spots we could find in Long Beach alleyways. Mastroni and I live smack dab in the middle of a plethora of alley spots, so we got to work quick and filmed for about 2 weeks.

I can speak for us both when I say that we had a blast filming for this video and I hope you all enjoy what we created! Special thanks to Mike Mastroni and Nuno Oliveira for making this all possible!” – Broc Raiford

Odyssey BMX – Twisted Pro Pedals

March 23, 2017

Let’s take a closer look at the new Twisted Pro Pedals from Odyssey!

Odyssey BMX Twisted Pro Pedals

Here’s some news we’ve been waiting to see since our first look during our trip to Frostbike back in February. Odyssey have released their new Twisted Pro Pedals! The original Twisted PC Pedals haven’t really had any changes since their inception in 1997, beyond the countless color options. Not too many products have been around for this long without any major changes, which is a good indicator that they work well. With riders looking for slightly bigger pedals these days, Odyssey decided it was time to offer a modernized version of the pedals to accommodate for some of the needs of riders in 2017.

The Twisted Pro Pedals are still made from the same high strength plastic composite with the same look as the original, loose ball bearings and a chromoly spindle, but feature a larger body with a 104mm width and 98mm length. The original Twisted PC pedals have a 98mm width and 89mm length. This increase gives you more room for your feet and an increased concave for more grip, along with a slimmer profile. The Twisted Pro pedals feature 12 oversized molded pins per side versus 16 on the originals, but the increased size and concave helps reduce the need for as many pins.

The Twisted Pro pedals are available in black — Odyssey will be adding colors into the mix soon — and weigh in at 14.6 oz. These pedals are available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Odyssey worldwide starting now.

Don’t worry! The Original Twisted PC Pedals will still be available and continue to be manufactured well into the future.

The Twisted Pro pedals are slightly slimmer than the originals. Lean and clean. These are still made from the same high strength composite as well.

Odyssey BMX – Broc Raiford “Passageways” Teaser

March 22, 2017

Odyssey just dropped this teaser for a video that will be dropping this Friday, March 24th featuring Broc Raiford! We don’t have much for details, but we’re positive this will be a super dialed BMX video you won’t want to miss. Hit play to get a look at a few raw teaser clips to get an idea of what’s to come!

Odyssey BMX – Calibur 3-Piece Cranks

March 22, 2017

Odyssey BMX Calibur cranks

Is it time for a new set of BMX cranks? The new Calibur Cranks from Odyssey are starting to land at BMX shops and mail-orders. The Calibur cranks are a traditional style 3-piece crankset for those of you who don’t prefer Odyssey’s Thunderbolt style 2-piece cranks. You can find heat-treated chromoly tubular arms and a 22mm, 48-spline, hollow chromoly spindle with 6mm bolts to keep it all tight. These cranks feature sprocket bosses on both arms, so they are left and right side compatible. These also come with a 22mm, MID bottom bracket, so you don’t have to buy one of those separately.

The Calibur Cranks from Odyssey BMX are available in black and chrome, lengths of 165mm, 170mm and 175mm with a price tag starting at $149.99 – $159.99 based on color.

Odyssey BMX Calibur Cranks Chrome

Do note that these cranks are heat-treated, but they are not covered by Odyssey’s 41 Thermal lifetime warranty they offer on some of their products. Either way, these look like a sturdy set of cranks for a great price. The Calibur cranks available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Odyssey BMX worldwide now.

Full Factory – March Madness 2017 Jam

March 20, 2017

Whenever Full Factory throw a jam, you know it’s going to be a good time! THis past weekend they hosted their annual March Madness jam at their warehouse in California. Here’s a look at what went down from the Odyssey and Sunday Bikes team riders to some of the locals that came out for the day. It looks like everyone had a great time and plenty of dialed riding went down! Check it!

“March Madness at Full Factory was the epitome of what a jam should be. You really can’t go wrong with a plethora of ramps and grindable obstacles, free pizza, unlimited Kind Bars, everyone getting to shred with some of their favorite pros, the friggin’ Gauntlet Of Death, and some sweet deals on product from Full Factory brands Odyssey, Sunday, and GSport. Our friends at Full Factory organized a few mini contests, including Broc Raiford’s Highest Hop, which was won by Richard Hernandez at 42”, Jake Seeley’s Ledge Party was also dominated by Richard Hernandez—along with Austyn McIntosh, the Justin Spriet Flat Rail Challenge went to Jerimiha Miller, Hernandez also cleared 20’ 7” a clinched the Long Distance 180. Meanwhile, Hayden Scobie and John Wadlund were awarded the Gary Young Overall Shredder on the ramps and Austyn McIntosh took the Overall Shredder on street from Travis Hughes. And finally, Gauntlet Of Death… Justin Spriet told me he was going make it through on his first try, and sure as shit, he did—that might be the first one and done in Gauntlet Of Death history. Gary Young and Michael Napoli conquered the Gauntlet as well.” – Ride BMX

BMX Multi-Tool Guide

March 8, 2017

Let’s take a look at all of the different BMX Multi-Tool options out there…

The other day Brant Moore put together a video giving you a look at the different BMX Multi-Tool options there are available to riders these days. The Multi-Tool originally started when DK Bicycles released their Random Wrench, at fit all the key tools you needed to work on a BMX bike into a compact, small tube with a few different attachments. Since then brands like The Shadow Conspiracy, Eclat, Animal Bikes, Odyssey, Merritt and Tall Order have come up with their own Multi-Tools that use some what of the same concept, but some what different designs. After checking out Brant’s video above we decided to take a look at these different options so you could easily see all the different BMX Multi-Tool options and compare them. Let’s get into this.

BMX Multi-Tool Guide

Shadow Conspiracy BMX Multi-Tool

The Shadow Conspiracy – Multi-Tool

– $59.99

Let’s start out with The Shadow Conspiracy’s Multi-Tool. This tool was designed after the DK Random Wrench, but includes a few items not found on that tool to give it a few more options.

Odyssey Travel Tool BMX

Odyssey Travel Tool

– $29.99

The newest tool that is hitting BMX shops and mail-orders in March of 2017 is the Travel Tool from Odyssey. This tool is more simplistic than the Shadow Conspiracy, DK Bicycles and Eclat tools, but still has all the key pieces.

– 15mm and 17mm Pedal Wrenches
– 4mm, 5mm, 6mm and 8mm allen keys
– 17mm Deep Socket with a full-length arm for extra leverage.

This one also features a lighter weight body and you could basically call it a Swiss Army Knife for BMX.

The Travel Tool will be available in Black with an affordable $29.99 price tag that is a perk for sure.

Really like the clean, simplistic look for the Travel Tool.

DK Random Wrench V3 BMX Multi-Tool

DK Bicycles – Random Wrench V3

– $39.99

Let’s take a look at the tool that started it all… Well, the 3rd version of the tool that started it all. The DK Random Wrench V3. This version was designed to be slimmer than its predecessors, but still pack all the tools needed.

You can find these tools inside the Random Wrench V3:
– 6mm, 8mm and 10mm wrenches
– 5mm and 6mm allen sockets
– 15mm pedal wrench
– 3/8″ socket driver
– 3/8″ extension

Vocal BMX V Tool BMX Multi-Tool

Vocal BMX – V-Tool

Similar to some of the other BMX Multi-Tool options, Vocal BMX offer their own tool that does have it’s own unique twist on it. The tool has a similar tube design with the socket attachment, spanner and hex head fittings. However, this tool also comes with an optional extension that you can also purchase…

The main part of the V-Tool features…

The V-Tool Extension adds a few more tool options, additional storage space and can be connected to the original tool.

– Top Cap with chain tool connection, comes out the tube and attaches to the cap
– Bottom caps to connect to our main V tool (supplied separately)
– HD 1 1/8 single speed chain tool with pin guide.
– 10mm spanner with tire lever

Vocal BMX V Tool BMX Multi-Tool

The Vocal V-Tool is another solid option for a tool that has it all. The design is a little different and not quite as compact when it’s connected to the extension, but it does get the job done for offering everytihng.

The Vocal V-Tool comes in Black only with a price tag of £29.99 (on sale at the time of writing this) with the extension being an additional £23.99. It’s not the most affordable option, but has more than the less expensive basic options.

Tall Order Pocket Socket BMX Multi-Tool

Tall Order – Pocket Socket

– $17.99

Another one of the new options that are available, plus the most simplistic would be Tall Order’s new Pocket Socket that eliminates pretty much everything and only has the very minimal for tools you would use regularly.

The Pocket Socket features:
– 6mm and 8mm allen keys
– 17mm socket
– Knurling on the handle for grip

The Pocket socket comes in black and chrome, weighs in at a very light 4 oz., is 210mm in length so it does indeed fit in your pocket and has a price tag of $17.99.

This is a great option for people that don’t want to carry around a big tool, but obviously it only has a few of the tools you may end up needing during a session.

Tall Order Pocket Socket BMX Multi-Tool

Merritt Trifecta BMX Multi-Tool

Merritt – Trifecta Tool

Another very simple tool that cuts things back to the minimal neccesities would be the Merritt Trifecta Tool. This tool, similar to the Pocket Socket above is a small, compact tool that folds out with a few configurations to dial your bike in with.

The Trifecta Tool includes:
– 17mm socket
– 6mm and 8mm allen keys
– Velcro strap to attach it to your bike if you want.

The Trifecta tool has 3 of the key tools that you would use to dial your bike in with. Obviously that leaves out a lot of features some of the other tools offer, but it’s small, compact and lightweight (7.4 oz.) which is a perk. The Trifecta Tool is available in black only with a price tag of $34.99 through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Merritt.

Merritt Trifecta BMX Multi-Tool

Animal Bikes Kotulak BMX Multi-Tool

Animal Bikes – Kotulak Tool

– $54.99

Another tool that was based off the Random Wrench would be the Animal Bikes Kotulak Tool. This tool, similar to DK and Shadow’s tool is designed to pack everything you need into one tool with plenty of features to make sure you can keep rolling. This one comes with a unique shape and it also offers that swivel head which is a perk when it comes to cranking your wheel down.

The Kotulak Tool includes:
– 15mm Crows Foot Pedal Wrench
– 3/8″ Swiveling Socket Driver
– 3/8″ to 1/2″ Extension
– 17mm Deep Well Socket with 1/2″ Drive
– Allen Socket with 7/32″, 1/4″, 5mm, 6mm and 8mm allen bits
– Chain Breaker
– Spoke Wrench
– Hammer (Threaded End Cap)

Like the others, everything fits inside the tube to keep everything secured tightly into place. This is another great option for somebody that wants everything packed into one.

The Kotulak Tool comes in black only with a price tag of $54.99.

Eclat BMX E-ToolBMX Multi-Tool

Eclat – E-Tool

– $64.99

Last but not least, the E-Tool from Eclat. Once again, were’ looking a tool that utilizes a tube design, but this one works a little different than the others and has a super clean design. Those German’s always have a unique approach to things, and we’re definitely a fan of the look they gave for this one.

The E-Tool Includes:
– 8mm and 10mm wrench
– 15mm pedal wrench
– Spoke wrench
– 10mm and 19mm U-Brake wrench
– 3mm, 4mm, 5mm,6mm and 8mm hex bits
– 17mm socket

The E-Tool measures in at 188mm long with a 30mm diameter, weighs in at 19.10 oz. and comes in black only. Everything packs neatly into it’s proper place for a compact storage. This one does come with a $64.99 price tag, which is higher than the rest so that’s a downfall.

Eclat BMX E-Tool BMX Multi-Tool

Eclat BMX E-Tool BMX Multi-Tool

Looking at each tool, they all offer the same tools essentially, with some offering more like chain breakers and tire levers and others taking the minimalist approach with only focusing on the main tools you will use more frequently. Things to consider with this are what tools do you absolutely NEED (I mean, you need all of them at some point) during a session or a trip, if you want something that slips into your pocket or something that might be a little bulkier but have more options, price and colors. Regardless, it’s always a good idea to have the right tools for the job. Make sure you check out our BMX TOOL GUIDE for a full list of tools that you could use as well.

That wraps things up with this BMX Multi-Tool Guide. We hope this helped you compare the different BMX Multi-Tool options available, so you can figure out which one you prefer to have. Everything you see here can be picked up through BMX shops and mail-orders worldwide.
