Sean Sexton Off Odyssey
Man, what is going on over at Odyssey? It was announced that they let Chase Hawk go the other day, now Sean Sexton has announced that Odyssey have also let him go for 2016. This is two very big moves on Odyssey’s part, so we’re pretty surprised by the news. Based off Sean’s announcement on Instagram, it sounds like he was pretty caught off guard by the news, but is pretty optimistic about the news. We can only imagine it won’t take long for Sean to pick up a new parts sponsor, if not he still has Kink, which also offer a full range of parts.
Here’s Odyssey’s announcement…
“Every single one of us at Odyssey couldn’t be more bummed that Chase Hawk and Sean Sexton are no longer part of the Odyssey team. Nobody wanted this, and it’s one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do as a company or as individuals. But what it came down to is Odyssey was more down for Chase and Sean than they were for Odyssey. They wouldn’t come on our trips, they wouldn’t come out riding with us at home, and when we could get them to hang out with us, it wasn’t hard to tell they’d rather be somewhere else. That kind of attitude can bring down a session or a trip worse than anything. Supporting guys who don’t support us has been really tough.
Every single other rider on our team is 100% down for Odyssey and down for their friends on the team, and it only makes sense to put everything we’ve got behind the guys who truly love Odyssey and are stoked on what we’re doing. We wish more than anything that Chase and Sean were down, but sadly they’ve shown us for a long time now that they’re not, and something had to give. It’s tragic things have unfolded this way, I hope once the smoke clears we can all be friends again.”
Chase Hawk OFF of Odyssey
Wait… WHAT!? Chase Hawk and Odyssey have parted ways! No word on if the decision came from Odyssey’s end or Chase’s, but this is definitely some surprising news! Does Chase has a new opportunity lined up? We would imagine there has to be a reason behind this one and if he doesn’t yet, we’re sure he will very soon. We’ll keep you posted! Talk about a mind blower…
Update: Ride BMX got ahold of Chase to get his word on the news…
“Just got off the phone with Chase and he confirmed that he was caught off guard by the move, citing that he was merely told that he wasn’t putting much effort into working with Odyssey, but he was quick to point out that he’s been putting a lot of effort into filming for the Etnies video. Overall, Chase wanted to convey that while he’s bummed that it was just another bump in the road and that he’ll be full-blown Cult now. He’s looking forward to having everything under one roof and bringing out some additional signature parts through Cult.” – Ride BMX

Product: Odyssey – Vintage Military Canvas Seat
To go along with the Chase Hawk Vintage Military Seat, the crew at Odyssey have another option available in the same material for those of you looking for a little more padding. The Vintage Military Canvas seat is available in Tripod and Pivotal versions. The Pivotal version is similar in size and shape to Odyssey’s Principal seat which features a larger padding that wraps around the base of the seat with a custom Pivotal base that is re-inforced for additional strength. The Tripod version features a wider base and plenty of padding to keep you comfortable whether you’re sitting or throwing the bars.
Both versions use the same Vintage Military Canvas material that was sourced from downtown Los Angeles and have an “ODSY” patch sewn on. These BMX seats are available through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Odyssey worldwide now.

Odyssey 30 Year Jam Highlights
Last weekend Odyssey threw a jam to celebrate 30 years and premiere their new “30.15” video (which will be online shortly… Ran into some technical issues). They invited everyone out for a session and some good times and as expected… Some damn good riding went down! Check out this highlight reel that Ride dropped from the day.
