Vans BMX – Roaming in the Northwest

December 3, 2015

Two summers ago some of the Vans BMX team spent some time cruising in an RV around the Northwest scoping out spots and enjoying some time out in the wilderness, away from the luxaries of every day life. Well, this past summer they decided they had such a good time and that the Northwest still had A LOT of untapped spots they didn’t get to the first time, that they would load up and do it again. Now, today we get this dialed BMX video filled with amazing riding and the good times the crew had. Hit play and enjoy this one!

Want to see the first video? Watch VANS OREGON TRIP here!

“The Northwest of the United States stands for its nature with mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, the Pacific Ocean…. and for their outstanding parks and bowls.
After an amazing venture to the State of Oregon in 2014, we wanted to return to the land of the pioneers, but take it en route to the north this time and explore Washington State. Yet again, it´s the simple things in life that matter, accompanied by some good humans. No hotel beds, no hot showers, no electricity for 9 days and nights, just some dudes in campfire-stinking, filthy looking clothes on bikes and with big smiles on their faces.
So sit back, grab a beer and slow down – join us for some moments in the outdoors.
And after reading, buy a tent and get out there!

Riders: Bas Keep, Ben Hennon, Kevin Kalkoff, Maxime Charveron, Greg Illingworth and Ollie Shields.

Film & Edit: Alex “Mayol“ Baret

Music:
GASTON LIGHT-TRUTH I SUPPOSE / radio king
UNCUT / shrouds
MOSES LUSTER / hollywood’s black heart

“Even though traveling and filming are some the perks of being a ‘Pro’ rider with a busy job, sometimes all you want to do is catch some down-time at home. “In the latest episode of ‘Work In Progress’, we continue to shadow the life of Cult, Seventies and Vans’ Ollie Shields, and things get a little more laid back as we visit the infamous ‘Frontside Gardens’ skatepark in Hackney Wick, originally made famous by it’s Google commercial with founder Andy Willis. Today is the Cult jam, a laid back, free-for-all style jam, put on by fellow Cult and Vans rider Bas Keep, ironically one of the main guys who has always stood behind Ollie and vouched for his riding. Sit back and kick it with Bas, Ollie, Jordan Aleppo, Lima and more… This series proudly supported by Seventies Distribution, Cult Bikes and Vans.” – Epic TV

If Money Were No Object, Would You Get Out And Ride?

July 31, 2015

Mike King put together an interesting video that asks a question that I’d be willing to bet a lot of you haven’t actually considered despite it being a pretty fair question…

“What would you do if money were no object? What would you do with your life, how would you spend your time, what would you you get up to? Would you be out on your bike at every opportunity?”

The video above features Bob Manchester and Ollie Shields who both have had videos showing us what they do for a living outside of BMX recently, which Mike produced. But it kind of goes to show that these two guys are working to support their habit of BMX.

I’d be willing to bet a lot of you, if you’re older working full-time, have a family or any of the countless adult responsibilities that keep you off your bike, would find more time to ride if you did have the money to keep you from working all the time.

… Man, how good would that be? A life of riding without having to work? We’re not talking being a pro rider because that is actually a lot of work with a lot of responsibilities and obligations. We’re just talking you have enough money to ride and do whatever you want without obligations… Talk about living the dream. It seems almost hard to explain because it’s such an unrealistic thought….

Let’s talk about this… Leave some thoughts in the comments!
