Dreamline Qualifiers

August 10, 2013

Plus Size BMX dropped this video giving us a look at what went down during Qualifying at Dreamline yesterday! The riding is absolutely nuts and the course is beyond insane. Hit that play button and lose your mind!

“Huge shout to everyone who helped make Red Bull Dreamline another amazing event. Here are a few of the highlights of just went down during Qualys today here in Angel Fire, New Mexico. FInals go off tomorrow…Get a full report on PSBMX.com”

Below is an official press release from Red Bull about qualifying!

“August 9th, 2013– (Angel Fire, New Mexico) After six weeks of building, 20 thousand tons of dirt moved and endless amount of anticipation, the world’s top BMX riders finally got a chance to session arguably the biggest course in BMX dirt history. With vertical descent akin to a 17-story building and a course that traversed nearly a half-mile of picturesque mountain scenery, the 32 competitors had to give it everything to be one of the final twelve to make it to Saturday’s final.

“Everybody rides at such a high level. The bar has been raised now for BMX dirt jumping. It’s only going to get gnarlier. This is exactly what (BMX pro and event creator) Anthony Napolitan wanted. He wanted an event that was nothing but fun, with no stress, just good times and that’s what he’s created here up here in the mountains,” said Mike “Hucker” Clark, one of the twelve finalists going into tomorrow’s competition.

The event was entirely peer judged – the format consisted of two jam session heats, and riders from the other heat gave ranked the athletes on course which they felt most were most deserving of advancing. The finals will continue in the same spirit, with the eliminated athletes drawing draws to see which five will judge the finals.

The final event will be sure to be one of the best sessions the sport has ever seen. The tickets for the event are already sold out, but there will be a chance for everyone to witness the action on NBC on October 26th, 2013 at 4pm ET, brought to you in partnership with Casio G’zOne Commando, Dodge Dart, and GoPro. The show airs as part of the Red Bull Signature Series, the most progressive action sports property in the world, featuring some of Red Bull’s top events including the Vans US Open of Surfing, Joyride and Rampage. Red Bull Dreamline – Practice Video

August 9, 2013

My mind is still absolutely BLOWN by how wild the Red Bull Dreamline course is. Take a look as a few of the guys give the lines a few goes in the first day of practice. All I know is I’d be peeing my pants jumping basically all of those jumps!

First Look: Red Bull Dreamline Course

August 8, 2013

Oh… my… god… I went to the original Dreamline contest two years ago and this course is WAY gnarlier… and I didn’t think it could be done. WOW. This contest is going to be NUTS.

“Reality came crashing in yesterday as the riders arrived in Angel Fire, New Mexico, and got their first look at the course that Adam Aloise and his crew spent nearly six weeks building. Excitement levels were running high as they were faced with just how big everything was, followed quickly by a desire to ride it as soon as possible.

Unfortunately they’d have to wait, as rain forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s practice session. The riders were even forced to turn back on their first attempt to see the course when rain and hail battered the mountainside. Thankfully, the clouds parted briefly in the afternoon, long enough for a course walk-through and psych-up session.

Several riders were out on the mountain early Thursday morning, armed with shovels to help the build crew erase the minimal damage from Wednesday’s rains. With beautiful vistas and some sets bigger than most of the riders have hit before, the course is a once-in-a-lifetime setting, ready for the best the riders have to offer.

Red Bull – Ride and Seek: Open Air

August 6, 2013

Maybe it’s because I’ve been getting more and more into motorcycles lately or if it’s just because this series is going to be absolutely stacked, but I’m pumped about this Red Bull Ride and Seek series dropping. Check out part one which introduces you to the plan and a bit of a bio on Corey Martinez!

“In the season premiere of Ride and Seek, Corey Martinez talks about how his passion for riding started, his family life and past adventures. Stay along for the journey as Corey Martinez and friends take a trip to ride, camp and enjoy the open air.“

Red Bull Flow Summer Holiday Challenge

August 6, 2013

Red Bull Flow have a new video contest for you guys to get in on with Rich Forne, Peter Adam, Juliet Elliot, Ryan Hallett, Will Evans and Kriss Kyle as the judges. Above is an example from Peter Adam of what they’re looking for and a full details on the contest below! Get in on this.

“Red Bull Flow is an iPhone and Android app built for the BMX and skateboarding community to film and share their tricks. With Instagram Video and Vine already catering for moving images in the social media world, what’s Flow’s USP? That it can stitch together complete films from user-uploaded tricks, without the need for any video editing software or any prior editing knowledge. Red Bull Flow also ensures that the millions of clips filmed every day help BMXers and skaters get better at their sport as well as helping to share clips with friends.

“We were tasked to build Red Bull Flow to be the best way for BMXers and Skateboarders to share their tricks,” says Jonathan Attenborough of Sidekick Studios, who designed the app. “Individual clips are filmed and uploaded with the app. Clips are tagged with the rider, trick and spot. The app then creates edits by stitching the clips together around a tag – which we call Flows. It’s pretty exciting because the app can make lots of different films depending on the tags.”

Throughout August, some of the UK’s best BMX filmers – Rich Forne, Peter Adam, Juliet Elliot, Ryan Hallett and Will Evans – have been challenged to make a creative film of between 15-to-20 clips. How they use the edit-free platform, and what their films end up being about, is up to them.

And from Saturday 3rd August Red Bull is inviting the public to use the Flow app to create innovative bmx and skate riding films without any editing experience required. Users are asked to upload films of between 15-to-20 clips using the tag “Your name + PhoneEdit” (eg: if your name is Joe Bloggs, the tag would be JoeBloggsPhoneEdit). Three of the best filmers – as decided by pro BMXer Kriss Kyle – will then earn a unique, Red Bull-inspired day-out at one of the UK’s biggest BMX events at Birmingham’s NEC on 29th September.

“Making a bmx or skate edit on a phone couldn’t be easier,” says Peter Adam, one of the UK’s most respected BMX film-makers. “There’s no need to carry around a heavy bag of the latest expensive camera equipment, just take your phone out of your pocket and start shooting. You can upload directly from your phone too, and the only editing you do is to trim the clips – the app edits them together – so you’re only limited by your imagination.” Check out Peter’s own Flow above.

Kevin Robinson’s Farewell to X-Games Competition

August 5, 2013

Kevin Robinson announced that he was going to be retiring after this past weekends X-Games in Los Angeles. Kevin discusses his decision in this new video from Red Bull that shows a little bit of his past along with what solidified his decision up to his final run this past weekend. Definitely an understandable reason to step away from things and I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Kevin anytime soon.

“Kevin Robinson competed at the very first X Games (then called the Extreme Games), back in 1995 in his home state of Rhode Island. Since then, he’s earned ten X Games medals (four of them gold) and made history in 2006 when he landed the first-ever double flair in X Games Vert Best Trick. He remains the only rider to have landed the trick in competition.

Now 41, Robinson has made the decision to walk away from X Games competition, leaving a legacy of memorable performances and defining moments. In the video above, KRob looks back at some of those moments, and explains why now is the right time to retire.

Given his love for BMX, we’re sure this won’t be the last we hear from him. Thanks for the memories Kevin, and here’s to many more…” – Red Bull
