Photogallery: Mike Tag Cancer Benefit – Ft. Wayne, In

July 31, 2011

Photobucket

“It’s a shame that Mike Tag was diagnosed with cancer. However, we can pull together, and help a fellow rider when they need it. Over the past few months countless jams, fundraisers, and contests have been held to help Mike with his medical bills. Ft. Wayne is where FBM started, so it was only logically to hold the Mike Tag Benefit Trail Jam at the local 4910 trails in Indiana. Many new and old faces showed up to help out, which calls for a great time. Get well Mike!” – Words and photos by Devon Denham – DevonDenham.com

After you check out the photo’s, don’t forget to send Mike some love with a donation to help him pay for his chemotherapy!

Mike Tag Benefit Jam in Ft. Wayne Edit

July 20, 2011

“In April, lifetime FBM rider and street riding pioneer Mike Tag was diagnosed with Stage ll Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The BMX community quickly rallied to support Tag’s cause. Benefits were organized and money was donated to help pay for his chemotherapy.

This past weekend, Steve Crandall and the FBM crew traveled to Ft. Wayne, Ind. to host another round of benefits for Mike Tag. This time out, the 4910 Trails hosted the event, and although there were no long jump contests involving a man in a Cookie Monster costume, there was riding from the likes of Scotty Yoquelet, Jeremy Ball, Herb Hill, Chris Gerber and more. Many years ago, Crandall and Mike Tag lived in the Ft. Wayne area, and it was there that that the original idea for FBM was established, so it’s nice to see the local scene, both old and new faces, giving back to a BMX legend. Video by Stew Johnson, also originally of Ft. Wayne.

All proceeds from the event went to Mike Tag’s cancer fund, which is still accepting donations.” – ESPN

1664 – Will Fisher

July 8, 2011

Here’s a fresh new edit from 1664‘s Will Fisher when he was down in Austin, Texas recently. Real good riding, plus Stew Johnson filmed and edited it. Boom.

Drew Hosselton Bike Check

June 18, 2011

“Volume/Demolition rider Drew Hosselton, made some waves earlier this week with a stellar new video from Volume But before that, Drew met up with Stew Johnson in Tempe, Ariz. a few weeks back to film some clips and get a bike check done. 23-Earth-year-old Drew’s Volume Drifter stands up to Drew’s unique brand of Arizona-influenced abuse, and we’re also never going to get tired of making Drew feel awkward during video introductions. Odyssey’s Texas Toast Jam – The Complete Video

June 2, 2011

To be honest, this was the video I was waiting on. In some of the other photos and videos I spotted Stewart Johnson with a camera. I knew he was going to be doing something with the footage and it turns out it was for ESPN. This covers the whole event real well. There’s also good news… Taj mentions it will be happening again next year!

“This past weekend, Taj Mihelich, Odyssey BMX and the great city of Austin, Texas injected the fun back into the BMX contest scene with the Texas Toast Jam. All weekend long, Sandy Carson was on the ground shooting photos for us, but we didn’t stop there. Stew Johnson was also on hand for Texas Toast, and the above is the resulting video, covering every aspect of the event, from Beringer’s peg drags to a boat captain being randomly taken out on the course by a flying bike. Video by Stew Johnson.” – ESPN
