Stewart Munro has executed a concept that many filmers have wished they could accomplish. He shot an entire DVD in Super 8mm and 16mm film. For those of you not familiar, most people can’t pull it off due to the cost of the film and may be put off by the extra effort and time it takes to have it developed and scanned in. Expect full sections from Raph Jeroma-Williams, Jerry Vandervalk, Mitchell Mcdonald, Marc “Marnold” Arnold,Calvin Kosovich and Clint Millar. This will be really cool to see.

Simon O’Brien Video Rewind
Check out some flatland goodness from Colony‘s Simon O’Brien courtesy of ESPN BMX! This one is a flash back for sure.
“Australia’s Simon O’Brien could be considered one of the best flatland riders in the world. Though he doesn’t get out to compete as much as he once did, O’Brien’s riding in video over the past decade is astonishingly innovative, difficult and stylish. He’s never been one to fall in with the current flatland trends. Instead, he’s pioneered some of most difficult techniques (backwards rolling halfpacker barflips) and kept a level head on his shoulders while also becoming remarkably good at skatepark riding. In the above video, O’Brien, now 33, discusses his progression through flatland, his recent trip to Japan and where he’s at right now with his flatland riding. Video by Stewart Munro.”

Review: The Colony DVD
Over the course of the last two years, the Colony team have been traveling the world filming. They kept it all pretty hush-hush until recently for the majority of BMX which is actually pretty hard these days. When it was announced they were dropping a full-length, people seemed to be pretty excited and with the team they have these days, it’s no wonder. Colony had Sidewall send me over an advanced copy of the video to check out along with FIVE copies to GIVEAWAY. All you have to do is “Like” The Union on Facebook and then comment or like the photo of the cover I’ll have posted on the wall and I’ll pick the winners next week. This is what I thought of the video…
