Part two of the Vinyl BMX trip down under has arrived. The first part was footage from their time in Australia (Vinyl BMX – Australia Trip 2020 – Part 1). This time around we check out what they got into during their time in New Zealand. As expected, the trails are dialed, the riding is awesome and the vibe is great. This looks like it was a ton of fun!
Vinyl BMX – Australia Trip 2020 – Part 1
This year has been terrible for traveling, but it looks like Tom Arkus was able to get a trip to Australia in back before the shutdowns and everything got crazy. Here’s part 1 from the trip packed with non-stop trails goodness! Hit play and take it all in. We’re definitely looking forward to part 2!
“Gillian from GroTrails put together a neat video from the beginning of 2020. We as a group ended up making it to this years HVT Jam. As soon as we got home, first week of March Covid-19 hit us all at once… I feel like we will have plenty of content stashed away to keep some of you entertained throughout the winter.” – Vinyl BMX
Welcome To Pittsburgh 6.9
Here’s one we’ve been excited to see. Bobby Valentine has released “Welcome To Pittsburgh 6.9 as a start of a series of videos leading up to the full-length “Welcome To Pittsburgh 69” video. Hit play for 11 minutes of footage featuring Mark and Mike Potoczny, Tom Arkus, Cameron Nicols, Chris Doyle, Luke Nate and Shane Halahan, Kevin McNamara and more!
“Summer/Fall 2020 edit of a small part of the Pittsburgh BMX scene. This is a precursor to Welcome To Pittsburgh 69 which will be released in the Fall of 2021. Welcome To Pittsburgh 69 will be ten times the video that Welcome To Pittsburgh 6.9 is, it’s mathematically guaranteed.

COVID PA Trails Session
It has been a while since we’ve seen a video pop up on the Vinyl BMX Vimeo account! Here’s a fresh one from some of the sessions going down in the woods and Tom Arkus‘ driveway trails out in Pennsylvania in this new video Tom put together featuring a bunch of familiar faces like Mark and Mike Potoczny, Chris Doyle, Mason Ritter, Bobby Valentine, the Halahan brothers and more. This is a super good watch and definitely a BMX video you won’t want to pass up!
“During these unpredictable times we made the most of it shredding the trails. Featuring Pa Locals. Filmed by David Leep. Edited by Tom Arkus.“
Chris Doyle – Unreleased Footage
Tom Arkus dug into the archives and pulled out some unreleased footage from 10 years ago…
Yesterday it was announced that Chris Doyle had collapsed during a Kink Trip and he was hospitalized. There wasn’t a lot of details on just what happened, but we do know that Chris is recovering and is going to ride another day, which is great news. With the news circulating, a ton of riders have been coming out to show support for Chris. Last night we got a look at the Chris Doyle Benefit T-Shirts that Kriss Bennett is working on, and now today we get a look at some unreleased footage Tom Arkus had from 10 years ago that features Chris riding at Tim’s barn and Ray’s MTB in Cleveland. Although this footage is 10 years old, you might have some trouble seeing that since Chris’ style is so timeless. Give this a watch, then go pick up a Benefit T-Shirt Right Here for $20 to help Chris and his family out with the medical bills.

In Memory of Denis Mowgly
The French trails scene has lost a great rider and person… Rest in Peace, Denis Mowgly.
The BMX world has lost too many great people over the years. A few weeks back, the scene over in France lost Denis “Mowgly” Darbeau who had passed from heart complications while running. Denis was a big part of the trails scene over in France, but was one of those riders that crushed it on everything he touched, which is clear in this video Tom Arkus put together from time he had spent with Denis. We highly suggest you give the video a watch since it’s a reminder of just how talented Denis really was on a bike and the good vibe he put off. Also, if you want to help out Denis’ family, they have a Fundraiser page setup that you can donate some money to. Rest in Peace, Denis. You won’t be forgotten!
“Loosing a friend is never easy, especially at such an early age. It has been very difficult to accept. It took me some time before I could watch any video footage of Denis. He is a dear friend that I admire very much. Denis left a positive impact on the trail community all across the globe. I wanted to share some footage I had of him from a couple of Trail Trips we did when we where younger.” – Tom Arkus
Mark Potoczny – Hazelwood 2013 Helmet Cam
Can’t go wrong with some helmet cam footage from Mark Potoczny! This time around he gets a few laps in at the Hazelwood trails with a few of the guys! Take a little ride!
“Here are 3 runs from the woods last summer each following through one of the locals. First is Darkside of the Moon with Ryan Popple, then Minaj with Tom Arkus, and finally Big Foot with Brian Yeagle.” – Mark Potoczny
Vinyl BMX – First Hits Dyke Out
It’s always exciting when a new jump gets finished up and then it gets a little tense when you have to figure out who goes at it first to see if it works. Vinyl dropped this new edit of Mark Potoczny, Ryan Popple and Tom Arkus having their way with a new line at Hazelwood out in PA. Take a peek!
“This is as raw as it gets, watch us test a new jump that we have been working on for the last 6 months. Once the new Dyke Out jump got opened up we tried syncing some trains together for a nicer effect.”
