Product: Vans iPhone Case

December 27, 2011

Photo: Offthewallsite.net

It’s not too often that I’m able to talk about iPhone products on here… Which is slightly surprising since, well, everyone and their mother has one these days. Even I, who had the ghetto-est phone for the longest time, joined the club. Yesterday I broke my case on my phone. I happened to be looking around for a new case online tonight when the Vans iPhone case popped up on my Facebook feed courtesy of Chris Moeller. I had previously seen a photo of the case, but it was before I had an iPhone so it really didn’t apply to me so I guess I didn’t pay any attention to it. However, looking at it now I’ve discovered that this thing is rad as hell and, as of right now, super limited.

Looking at the case, it has the classic waffle sole with the Vans tag logo and a navy blue stripe around the outside. The details look clean and being as big of a fan of shoes as I’ve become the last few years, I’m loving this.

The price of the case runs for $28.00 on the Vans Webstore, but that’s where the good news ends. Like I stated earlier, these were made in a limited production. From what I’ve read on Offthewallsite.net, these weren’t even supposed to go into production and then they ended up making a limited run of them. After word caught on about them, they sold out faster than a bunch of girls buying Justin Bieber concert tickets. There has been word that more will be available in February, but it didn’t sound like that was a guarantee.

Unless you get extremely lucky and happen to find one at a Vans store, your best chance of getting one is on eBay, where the cases are going for over $100. No surprise there.

All I know is that I really hope Vans gets a fresh batch of these made since I’m on the list of people who want one.
You can find out more information and photos for the case on Offthewallsite.net.

Vans – Let It Ride 2011 – Teaser

December 19, 2011

“Here it is, the teaser of this years Let it Ride trip.
Destination: The Canary Islands

Two crews of 8 people each flew into Tenerife to meet up and get their missions. The next morning one crew would get on a ferry to the neighbor island, Gran Canaria.
So for the first 5 days both teams had an island each to explore, before swapping islands, cars, house keys and spots half way thru the trip.

The mission was easy – find great spots and have a good time riding a bike. Both teams came back safe and now they share their 10 days with you.

Vans Rebel Jam 2011 – Building BMX History

December 12, 2011

“The best BMX riders from all over the world were killing/shredding Eindhoven

The history of BMX evolved at the VANSrebeljam in Eindhoven, NL over the course of the first weekend in December. One hundred sixty of the world’s best riders made the journey to Eindhoven from the US, Japan and throughout Europe. Heavy hitters like Ty Morrow, Matthias Dandois, Corey Martinez, Ben Hennon, Mark Webb, Bruno Hoffman, Dan Lacey and many more showed up to participate in the event that brings unfiltered BMX riding to Europe.

The format of VANSrebeljam is unique in the contest world. Judges scored riders in 3 categories: Hardest Trick, Creativity and Style. The real winner of the event though, was the progression of BMX.

Even with €20.000 in prize money on the line in the park, street and flat disciplines, the riders didn’t ride against each other, the riders rode with each other. Innovation was the motivation and new tricks included Corey Martinez’ Opposite Upledge Feeble to 180 Tailwhip and Mark Webbs Whip to Footajm to Downside Whip back in. The jam style park finals reached its climax when Daniel Sandoval dropped in after his heat was finished and pulled the trick of the day, a 720 Tailwhip to Barspin.

The crowd was cheering for the riders the whole weekend. Each day the Kolkgebow hall was packed with nearly 2,000 visitors who were joined by tens of thousands more who tuned in to the Big Air TV live webcast.

The unique judging format at the VANSrebeljam is about more than just hard tricks. The street contest was held as a best trick contest. Style and creative riding were also awarded in both park and flat. Riders had the opportunity to be judged in what they do best and it keeps the world’s best returning to VANSrebel jam year after year. The judges’ final tallied scores yielded these results.

FLAT
Hard Trick – Matthias Dandois, Dominik Nekolny, Dez Maarsen
Creativity – Matthias Dandois, Akira Okamura
Style – Matthias Dandois, Waldemar Fatkin, Alex Jumelin

PARK
Hard Trick – Harry Main, Mark Webb, Brett Banasiewicz
Creativity – Mark Webb, Tobias Wicke
Style – Sergio Layos, Sebastian Keep, Harry Main

STREET
Hard Trick -Corey Martinez, Dan Lacey, Bruno Hoffmann
Creativity- Aley Jumelin, Daniel Tünte

The VANSrebeljam in Eindhoven, NL was a perfect weekend of progression, insane tricks and good friends. It culminated in a good party at The Monster Energy Riders Night on Saturday Night at the Effenaar. The riders partied with locals and fans and the last people came home by the break of dawn.

We would like to thank everyone who came out the Eindhoven. The experience was complete with great riders from all over the world, the awesome crowd that pushed the riders to new limits and of course the international BMX media, that covered the VANSrebeljam.

Thanks to our sponsors. A big shout out to VANS, Carhartt, Monster Energy, JanSport, Federal, Paul’s Boutique, Camp Ramps, ProTec, Epiphone, Fiat Freestyle Team, Trudo, gemeente Eindhoven, Cultuurfonds Strijp-S and allbuyone.

We hope to see you next year with more unfiltered BMX!” – VANS
