Every now and then you’ll see a riders name popping up from time to time in different edits. If you pay attention you will notice most of those guys progressing. Tanner is one of those riders who I’ve been seeing pop up for a few years now, and then this past week out of no where he had not just one, but two damn good edits that dropped. Needless to say, Tanner was all over my radar, so thanks to Matt Freiheit, I was able to get ahold of this dude to find out a little more about him. Let’s check out what he had to say!
Name: Tanner Easterla
Location: Sacramento,Ca
Sponsors: Solid Bikes and Lil’ Mikey Bees Wax!
Years riding: 4 years
What was it that first got you into BMX? Any early memories come to mind?
My dad and I went behind my house one day when I was around 11 and went to some dirt jumps. My dad was jumping them and I thought it was the coolest thing ever and that’s when it started, haha.
You have been doing it for Solid for about two years now. How are things going? Does Aaron have any cool projects in the works for you coming up?
Things are goin good at Solid they just moved shops down the street so they have been busy moving all the big machines and what not and nothin right now but maybe soon! You never know!
How are things going with Lil’ Mikey Beeswax? That crew seems to be a really tight knit group. Do you guys have any trips or anything cool in the works you can tell us about?
Lil Mikey Beeswax is doin pretty good. They’re just doing there thing makin wax and riding! I know in April there’s gonna be another 420 trip which I can’t wait for! It was a blast last time! Haha
Any other sponsor news you can tell us about?
Nothin right now just riding doin my thing, haha.
ou have stayed pretty consistent with popping up in different edits over the last two years or so that I can remember. How do you feel about filming? Do you get stressed out over clips or are you pretty laid back about it?
Yea man. I love to film! It has its ups and downs but it’s always great to do something that you always wanted to do and see on the screen! There are times when I stress something really scary and I look back saying your a damn pussy why didn’t you do that! Haha but I’m definitely laid back about it.
Your new edit that dropped the other day of you killing the streets of Santa Barbara was real good. How long did you guys work on that one? How do you feel it came out?
Thanks man! I appreciate it! And I was in Santa Barbara for a week with my homie Cody Bowers we shredded the streets one weekend and the week day Cody was working so I shredded the skatepark until he got off and then went and light up spots! I loved the way it came out. Alex Raban did an amazing job editing and song choice was classic Solid bikes music, haha.
Have you been filming for anything else? Any new footage that will be popping up soon?
Yeah, my homie Matt Freiheit and I have been going out every weekend clocking clips! The edit actually dropped just the other day! The way Matt edits and films I think this might be my best yet!
Note from Matt:I would have to agree it could possibly be his best edit and probably one of the best ones I have made yet. We filmed this edit in a total of 8 days which is pretty crazy for how good it is!
I can’t imagine you get slowed down much by the winter in California. Where have you been getting most of your riding time in lately? Any hot spots you have been really stoked for?
Well during the week I just ride my local park near my house and on the weekends is when I go shred the streets! I have found some really good spots recently that are untouched! Which is real hard in California! Haha
What’s your dream spot? Have you found it yet?
That’s a really good question haha but I think my dream spot would be a nice mellow rail down a good stair set that’s a little taller then peg height. I can’t say I have but maybe one day!
Do you have any travel plans in the works you’re getting psyched for? Where are a few places you really want to go ride at some point?
I don’t right now till the 420 trip otherwise just staying in Sacramento and heading to the Bay Area! And I would really like to go to Texas or Atlanta or Nashville!
If you could load up with 5 friends to travel anywhere in the world to film and shoot photos for a week… Where would you go, who would you bring and why?
I would definitely go to Barcelona! And I would bring Jase Knack, Matt Stull, Mike Bronzi, Cody Bowers, and Ian Munro and one more! Kurtis Elwell. Because they are all the homies!
What’s one trick you cannot do for the life of you no matter how many times you have tried?
Tooth hanger to hop over! I don’t know why but I can’t do them!
What do you think you would be getting into if you never got into BMX?
Definitely a baseball player, haha.
What are you usually up to when you aren’t’ riding? Any hobbies you’re into?
Just working and hanging out with my girlfriend otherwise just riding forsure!
Do you work or go to school at all? What are you doing or hope to be doing some day?
I work a little. Not as much as I would like to and just have a good steady job to were I can just still ride my bike!
Are you really talented at anything other than riding bikes?
I used to be a whitewater river guide and talented baseball player, haha.
What’s something about yourself that might surprise people?
I’m Modoc indian?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully doin what I love to do ride my bike!!!
What’s the last song you heard, movie you watched and website you visited?
Last song I heard was Jungle by Andre Nickatina
Last movie I watched was Batman Dark Knight Rises!
Website was solidbmx.com
Are you on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of that? How can people keep up with you these days?
