Colorful BMX tires have always been apart of the the BMX world, but like every other trend in BMX, we have seen things come and go. Over the past few years, we have definitely seen colors on tires coming back into style after seeing the all black and basic colors like tan wall have its reign for a while. We were just thinking about all the crazy combos that are available these days (or soon to be released) and figured it would be interesting to take a look at just a few of the combos that are currently available… This one is definitely not for the color blind.
One of the first tires that comes to mind when we think of tires are Stolen’s Joint tire in that bright blue. There’s no denying that tire stands out bright and you know exactly what it is when you see it. Stolen also offer the tire in all black, black with a blue sidewall, black with a red sidewall, black with a tan sidewall and the classic black with white wall. We also spotted their new all red, off white and grey versions at FROSTBIKE a few weeks back that will be dropping soon.
Stevie Churchill’s signature tire from Eclat is one of those tires that isn’t shy when it comes to colorful options. The tire is currently available in tan, green, red and black with the red and black swirl, blue and black swirl and black and white swirl coming soon. Plenty of flavor in this…
Simone Barraco’s signature Strada tire is getting a revamp for 2015 and will be available in the Strada Nuova version which features thicker rubber, deeper ridges for more traction and this fresh green color option we spotted at FROSTBIKE. This one should be out soon as well.
For 2015, Flybikes released their new Military green colorway on a wide range of their products including the classic Ruben Alcantara Rampera tire that is available in two versions; Military green with a black sidewall and black with a Military green sidewall.
DUO’s High Street tire is no stranger to colors. They offer it in a wide variety of colors from the white with black wall and black with sidewall colors like blue, purple, tan, white and more.
Cult have added some flavor to their tire range as well with gum, white and burgundy (dark gum) options.
Fit Bike Co.’s T/A (Traction Advantage) tire is available in a few colors like gum and the red and black swirl like the Stevie Churchill tire from Eclat!
Brian Foster’s signature tire from Merritt got a lot of buzz during INTERBIKE back in September! What you might have noticed from the past tires is that they’re all geared towards street. Well, Brian’s tire is more trails oriented, but they are using a unique tread pattern that is not like the traditional knobby tires we see for trails. Interesting concept and looking forward to seeing these surface. The tire will come in a few colors like black, blue and gum!
When it comes to tire colors, Kenda didn’t mess around with their Kontact tire that comes in what appears to be every color in the rainbow! Even pink for the ladies!
Maybe the bright colors aren’t your thing… We have seen Odyssey and Fit Bike Co. and a few other brands use a special color on their sidewalls that turns reflective when light shines on them at night. Odyssey’s Chase Hawk and Aaron Ross tires will be available in colors like orange, white and gum this year as well.
Alex Donnachie’s signature Donnasqueek tires from BSD have been real popular lately. You better believe they come in a few different color options like dark red, dark blue and grey!
Alright, so I think that’s a ton of examples of the colorful side of BMX tires that we have been seeing lately! I’m sure we missed a ton, so if there’s one you think should have made the list, let us know in the comments and we’ll get it added! What’s your favorite color? What do you think of colored tires? Let us know! We want to hear your thoughts in the comments!
