Time for another round up of products for you guys to take a peek at. For this weeks Products: column we’ve got the Subrosa Silva frame, Fit Bike Co.‘s Inman bars, Cinema Wheel Co.‘s VX front hub, Colony‘s Colonial V2 cranks and Hoffman‘s Ontic AL complete bike. Let’s get into it!
One of the things that I like most about being a photographer is the fact that I get to build some solid friendships with some goddamn talented riders. Over the years I have met the majority of the best riders in the world and have been lucky enough to shoot with a good amount of them. I have been shooting and chillin’ with Kevin Kiraly for years now and it’s rad to have that feeling of trust when it comes to shooting with certain riders. It’s not easy for a rider to just send themselves without trusting the person behind the lens and building that trust takes time for sure. Once it’s there though it makes things so much easier. I am there to do my job, and the rider is there to do their job and it just works. Anyways, on the way up to shoot this past Dew Tour in San Francisco I stopped and met up with Kevin to work on this week’s column. He recently built up a brand new bike, got on the DC flow team and has been stacking clips for a few video projects so we covered all of that and more right here for TTL #36. The other weekend while what seemed like everyone was in Austin at the Texas Toast Jam, there was another jam going on in the Northeast. The New England Jam Chowda brought a bunch of riders who didn’t head south together for a day of riding and absolutely beating the shit out of their selves in the Rumble Pit. We had Nick Steben make his way to the jam to shoot some photos from the day for you to check out and he came back with 23 damn good photos featuring the likes of Stevie Churchill, Matty Long, Will Talamelli, Denny Pascasio, Zane Bradley, Rory Ellis and more all throwing down. Plus, you won’t want to miss the hilarious photos from the Rumble Pit!
Annnnnd it’s Saturday! Hell yeah. It’s that time of the week for a new edition of Products: for you get check out! This week we’re taking a closer look at the Mutant Bikes Corvo frame, Madera‘s Realist pivotal seat, Division Brand‘s Sync pegs, Deluxe‘s Deluxe bars and The Shadow Conspiracy‘s Crow sprocket! Let’s get into it!
When I first talked to Kurt about getting this column going with The Union we discussed a few different options as far as how frequently I would want to run it. Well, I like to think of myself as a pretty motivated person so I suggested we do it weekly and the rest is history. Today marks the 35th week in a row that I have sat down and tried to put together an original piece of material for you guys to check out. Whether it be a photo gallery, interview, company check, shooting tutorial, editing tutorial, story from the road or whatever else came along in the past 8 months or so and it’s been an amazing experience for me to be a part of something that I have complete creative control over. As any photographer will tell you working for people can sometimes be a shit show and the only way to have things come out exactly the way you envision them is to do it yourself. So, if there is any theme to this week it’s all about taking control of your work and doing exactly what you want with it. Not only is it liberating as hell but it’s also motivating to know that everything I have done has been completely by choice and I wanted to send a shout out and thank you to everyone that I have worked with since the beginning of this whole TTL project. Also, I haven’t really said this before but I wanted to give a sincere thanks to anyone and everyone that has ever checked out any of my columns, re-tweeted and shared links, sent me emails and given positive feedback. I couldn’t…actually I wouldn’t do this without you guys. On that note, lets see what’s in store for this week.
We’ve been getting a ton of real good photos sent in lately and it’s been awesome checking them all out. There’s a lot of really talented photographers out there these days and we’re doing our best to give these guys a little shine time when we can! We’ve been going with the Products: column for 26 weeks now. Can you believe it? I can’t. Either way, it’s Saturday again so as you can imagine we’re not about to go and screw up our record just yet. This past weekend things were getting nuts in Spain for the Vans Rebel Jam. Some of your favorite riders were in attendance soaking up the sun and throwing down some damn good riding.
