Introducing Network A

January 17, 2012

A few months back, I heard on the radio that Youtube was going to be launching 100 premium channels with different brands and celebrities that would feature higher quality videos. Combined each of these channels would produce over 25 hours of original footage everyday (that’s an hour more than a day for those of you counting). I thought it was pretty interesting, but didn’t really think too much of it.
Fast forward to a few weeks back and I get an email asking if I would be interested in helping one of these channels called Network A get rolling by compiling some lists of some of the best videos to pop up online.
This channel is an action sports specific channel (BMX, skate, snow, ski, moto and surf) that will feature original videos from some of the top film makers and riders from around the world from all these sports, along with some of the best of what Youtube already has to offer.
Fast forward to today, and they finally launched the channel for the world to see and I’m psyched. This channel will be a featured channel that will put BMX among the others sports in front of the millions of people who may check out the channel.

Above you can find the first original BMX video to premiere in the BMX Section featuring Chad Kerley and Connor Lodes getting in a round of Calling The Shots by none other than Justin Kosman. After you check out the video, go check out what Network A is all about since I have a feeling you will be hearing a lot more about it in the future.

10 Things To Look Out For In 2012

January 2, 2012

Just like every year around this time, there’s a lot of sponsor changes for pros, brands announcing some new products and things start getting fired up for the following year. One thing is that right now, there definitely have been some big changes happening the last few weeks. If you caught Adam’s Top 20 of 2011 on The Come Up or Brian Tunney’s 2011 Sponsor Changes or his Look back on 2011 on ESPN you got a good look back on 2011. I figured it’s a new year and I’d toss out ten things to look out for in 2012. Have a look and then definitely drop your 2 cents into the comments on things you expect to see as well.

Review: The Year of 2011

December 28, 2011

Photobucket

Well, would you look at that… 2011 is almost over. Where the hell did the year go? If there’s one thing I’ve come to realize is that the older you get, the faster the world turns. I’m not saying I’m old by any means, just after riding for nearly 12 years, the days fly by faster and faster and I’ve come to accept that as long as I keep riding, I’ll keep having good memories that I can look back on by the end of the year. I just went through my photos and selected out a few that stood out to me from the year. Due to life taking over, I didn’t get the chance to travel nearly as much as I would have liked, but I still managed to do a few cool things. Let’s take a peek…

And The Winner Is…

December 6, 2011

A few days ago, the giveaway contest for the Fall Red Madera cranks ended. Matt Coplon and Mike Hinkens picked Evan Bing from Illinois (using a random selection program) out of all 300 or so entries. Shout out to everyone who entered, Matt, Mike, Profile and Madera for making this one a success. Expect more giveaways soon.

Bob’s Backyard Trails

October 31, 2011

^ Turn that quality it up 720p!

Growing up, I was plotting trails spots wherever I could find enough room for a run up and a few piles of dirt. Spots like 507, Kings Run, The Pit, Badlands and Rec are just a few of the places I have spent some time with a shovel over the years. In that time, trails were plowed for “housing developments” that never happened, crews got lazy and spent more time at the local park or people just went there own ways while leaving riding behind that has left the spots to come and go. I think that’s some of the same reasons trails all over the world fall apart. In the back of my head, I always thought having a local house with trails or even a mini ramp in the backyard would be the absolute best. No need to worry about random people coming through and wrecking them or having a lack of water or supplies to keep them dialed. Something you could show up and count on them being ready to ride. Fast forward a few years and it finally happens… Keep reading…

Blog: Mainstream BMX

September 4, 2011

Lil Wayne BMX

It’s Sunday, there’s not a lot going on and I’m waiting on a few dudes to go out and finish up an edit that you will be seeing this coming week. While I was sitting here listening to the new Carter 4, I started thinking about how much mainstream attention BMX has been getting lately. Not saying that as a bad thing, just it seems our reputation has caught the attention of a lot of outsiders that definitely isn’t hurting us. It has been a while since I’ve done a blog, so I’ve selected few things as examples to why this is a good thing. So, let’s talk about this for a minute…

Case Issue #6

June 19, 2011

Case BMX Magazine

The new issue of Case showed up in the mail yesterday. Just in time for a real chill sunday morning read. There’s definitely something real relaxing about turning on some music, sipping coffee and reading a magazine for me, and that’s exactly what I did today. The new issues features a bunch of real solid pieces like Subrosa‘s trip to Arizona, Hoang Tran bike check, Ronnie Surridge interview and a real good interview with Jeremy Ball, which is kind of cool since I’m dropping an interview with him in the next few days here and none of the questions really over lap.

It seems like each issue keeps getting better and better. I’d definitely pick up a copy if you can. It’s available in the Case store in the U.K and the Wasted Youth store in the U.S for a penny. All you really pay is shipping.

Also, The Union’s first print ad can be found in there. It’s just a little last minute guy, but still pretty cool since it’s the first. You can check that out after the jump…
