Quicky: Chad DeGroot

Quicky is a new feature I’m going to try and start firing out here on the regular. It’s basically an interview, but straight to the point of “what are you up to” with no real extra non-bmx related questions that I’ll mix in with the regular interviews. I figured I’d start these off with the one and only Chad DeGroot. Anyone who knows Chad knows that he’s a definitely a little kooky, but awesome. He gets himself into some ridiculous situations and has some of the best stories ever. Chad also always has something going on. How To Fit a BMX Hub Guard

I’ve been running a Cinema Tungsten rear wheel for a while now. I did a review on it back in December after about a month and a half of running it. In the review I mentioned that I would recommend you pick up a hub guard for the wheel since I was seeing quite a bit of wear from grinding. After a few weeks I took my own advice and picked up a Shadow Conspiracy guard. When I went to install the guard, I ran into a bit of a dilemma with the guard not fitting on the wheel right. I figured by now there’s plenty of people running a Cinema Wheel, and it’s a pretty common style of hub, so I decided I’d give a little tutorial on what you should do to fix the hub guard issue. BMXunion 2010

BMX is awesome for the simple fact that it has done so much for my life. The last few years have given me a chance to experience so many things that I never thought I’d get to do growing up. The people I’ve met, the places I’ve been, the events I’ve experienced, and the lifestyle I’ve got to be apart of has definitely formed the person I am today. 2010 is only a few days away from being over, and another year that will be able to top this year will be starting. In the past 12 months, I’ve been snapping photos to remind me of all the fun and good times I’ve had along the way. I’ve selected something like 85 photos from a few thousand, and then linked to the rest of the photos from each trip between here, DIG, and my facebook albums with party photos. I’ll be making a full post after this with photos and what not from the trip so far, but I wanted to post this separate since it’s pretty gnarly. We hit Columbus, Ohio yesterday and ended up bumping into a bunch of other dudes riding along with Steven Hamilton. We cruised around for a while and then we hit the most well known curved wall ride in BMX in my opinion. Steven hopped on a bunch of different bikes and got it done on pretty much every bike he got on. So wild.

Bright and Early Clip

The other morning I had some time to get to the skatepark for a bright and early session with Wyatt Kreel and a few others. We decided to film a few things and I quickly realized I wanted to do something with this one clip. Wyatt is interesting because he’s a total meat head/beef cake/ jock with tattoo’s but doesn’t like to half ass his tricks. It’s super funny because he will yell at himself, and talk shit to himself until he gets a trick just perfect. I figured the clips I had accumulated really caught this perfectly and tossed them together. Enjoy.

I always feel like I’ve neglected this site when it goes 2 or so days without any fresh content… I take full responsibility. But, I do have a valid reason! The Dig site gets about 20 posts a day filled with videos, news, and original content that I post up. I’ve decided to compile the original content that I’ve produced on that site lately just to show that I’m not really slacking, I’m just hustling a lot on Dig!
