X Games Real BMX 2020 – Julian Molina Wins Fan Favorite

August 24, 2020

Julian Molina wins the X Games Real BMX 2020 Fan Favorite vote!

Here’s some news were super stoked on and definitely had a feeling we would see after the response the video got. Julian Molina took the Fan Favorite win for X Games Real BMX 2020 with 45.68% of the vote, which was a landslide since Simone Barraco came in 2nd with 17.01% of the vote and Garrett Reynolds with 13.35% of the vote. Check out Julian’s section from the full show where they announced the winners, before the Fan Favorite vote took place. This gives a good behind the scenes look at how much work Julian put into this! Hell yeah, Julian!

“Julian Molina is the first adaptive athlete to compete in the Real Series. At age 7, Julian lost his leg in a skateboarding accident. Then he picked up a BMX bike and started devising new techniques to ride street with just one leg and a crutch to maneuver. We normally don’t feature the behind the scenes segments of all the athletes in the Real Series (it’s in the full episode though) but we thought this cutdown was worth it because Julian is a straight up badass! Julian also just won the #RealBMX Fan Favorite: X Games Real BMX 2020” – X Games

Pool Service Announcement

August 24, 2020

When it comes to pools, Dean Dickinson has spent more time searching out and riding them than most. This has lead him down a lot of roads and into a lot of backyards with riders and skaters. Here’s a documentary style video where he shows some of the amazing pools him and his friends have rode, along with some excellent riding footage. This is a real good watch, so get on that play button and check all 10 minutes out!

“During the Regan administration in the USA, Nancy (Regan) created the “Just Say No” campaign. This encouraged children to simply say no to drugs. The movement was part of the government’s efforts into improving the War on Drugs. In the early 80’s, BMX was on the rise and so was a cheap, highly addictive form of cocaine known as “crack.” One high, was artificial, and the other was simply rad and reckless. Indeed, both could be deadly…

Regardless, Nancy decided to create a number of anti-drug public service announcement commercials for over a decade. I was born during the “I Want My MTV” era, so I spent a lot of time in front of the tube. The PSA that really struck a cord with me was the one of the woman diving into the empty swimming pool. My imagination led me to believe that if you take drugs you’ll jump out of a window or dive head-first into an empty swimming pool. In all honesty Nancy did her job, I was scared straight from drugs but not empty swimming pools.

Almost 30 years later, I revisited this classic PSA thru a random YouTube search. When I clicked play, it really brought me back. I was instantly inspired to somehow recreate this commercial involving backyard shredding. Pool Service Announcement, is a BMX tribute to the “Just Say No” era with a Pee-wee Herman twist. I’ve spent the last two and a half years documenting pool sessions with my Super 8mm camera far and wide. Over the fence and into the unknown, Regan Youth at its finest.

JUST SAY NO!” – Dean Dickinson
