Brian Tunney – Winter 2025

March 31, 2025

Brian Tunney has a new one from his winter garage sessions.

It’s been a few months, but Brian Tunney has released a fresh batch of clips from his garage flatland sessions that he has been getting in, in his garage this past winter. As always, this has a real laid back vibe, but plenty of great riding to check out. Take a peek!

“How it is 2025 and how the hell am I still here doing this stuff? Time is apparently an illusion and with that, I’ll just pretend it’s 1989 and keep on doing elbow glides.

I had no real goals in the new year past “keep riding” but I ended up surprising myself a few times over the past few months. I still stayed in the literal box (both the garage and the same old tricks I normally do) but I also experimented outside (and over) the box. Here, as always, is the rundown for all three of you that are curious.

00:00 Jan 1, I did the best undertaker to peg to peg decade of my life and I’m sticking to it.
00:13 Elbow glide to double juggler to invisible hand to hitch: It’s fast but I did cross hands on that go around. (Also yes, I figured out elbow glides in a circle to keep them in the garage….)
00:29 Then I went nuts with elbow glides, which you’ll see in this video. This is elbow glide to double juggler to around the world while listening to the National in a garage.
00:46 Because I’ve done a lot of ndertaker to peg to peg decades in the past year, I decided to reverse the order. This might look easy but it drove me nuts.
01:00 More elbow glides. This time with a brief backwards rolling elbow glide that is so brief that it’s more of an acknowledgment than glide.
01:17 Power mower to to peg to peg decade. Did I ever mention how bad I am at regular decades?
01:27 Inside circle switch elbow glide to peg to peg decade. Nothing crazy but it felt good.
01:40 Lung spin to rope-a-roni to peg to peg decade.
01:53 An appearance by the Captain’s hat and a left-handed elbow glide/hitch combo.
02:14 The neighbor’s landscaper was mowing the lawn and somehow I persevered.
02:34 Invisible hand to hitch to invisible hand to seat grab juggler to one-hand juggler.
02:54 Power mower to undertaker to rope-a-roni to peg to peg decade. I kinda went nuts with this combo the past few months.
03:05 Elbow glide to four seat grab jugglers to one-hand juggler. I should be more proud of this but I hate my yellow underwear band sticking out.
03:28 Inside circle switch elbow to half lash to rollback to whip to smith. This is a throwaway but it felt good so I’m running with it.
03:42 One of those supposed to be stylish non-bar turning lawnmowers to undertaker to smith.
03:53 Not gonna mention the president’s name here but I did this on the day when he must’ve done something bad cause I’m listening to a song called “Dead Eyed God.” It is the supposed to be stylish non-bar turning lawnmower to undertaker to rope-a-roni to peg to peg decade.
04:06 Double barspin undertaker to rope-a-roni to peg to peg decade. This took about two hours to get right.
04:15 Kerosene 454 re-released their second album and I listened to it a lot the past few months. This is more elbow glide to juggler nonsense.
04:32 I also brought it back to Botch a few times. This is a double juggler to left-hand elbow glide to around the world.
04:53 I don’t even know. Don’t judge me.
05:02 Again, I don’t even know but I must’ve been channeling 1995.
05:14 Brian’s white whale: I’ve never been able to do a backside walkaround. This is the closest substitution I’ll get to. I’ve been thinking about this position for literal years and it always baffled me. Finally, I decided to spend a few weeks trying to make it happen and this is the result. I slept well for about a week after finally landing this.

Thanks for watching!” – Brian Tunney

The Last Vans Combi Bowl Session

March 27, 2025

Vans threw a farewell jam on their Combi Bowl…

The Vans park out in California is shutting down their Combi bowl. They threw one last hurrah with a ton of heavy hitters to give it the send off it deserves. Here’s a look at what went down! You already know this one is too good to pass up!

“On Thursday, February 27th, Steve Van Doren assembled a BMX session for an opportunity to get last wheels on the Iconic Vans Combi bowl. The Vans bowl is a replica of the original Combi in Upland, CA.

Vans flew over Cauan Madona from Brazil, Scotty Cranmer and Matty drove from Arizona for the session. DMC flew in, we had Fast and Loose royalty there in Kris Fox, Matt Cordova, Corey Walsh and Jason Watts. Larry brought his usual powerful riding, Perris, Angie and Dany Moran also joined the session. Orange local, Dakota Roche was there. Gary and Dennis Enarson came up from San Diego. Dennis was injured at the time and hung out, but Gary rode hard as always.

SVD’S crew put on a BBQ, and it was great to have many friends and family in attendance like Robbie Morales, Nate Hanson, John Povah, and Chase and Reid Casey. The session started around noon and wrapped up by 5pm, there were people dropping in all afternoon and there was never not somebody in the bowl. It was cool to see Scotty want to roll around it and was cheered on by everybody there for his efforts.

All in all it was a high-spirited afternoon, and while we didn’t get to ride the Combi much in the past, we farewelled it with a heavy session that will be remembered forever.
