Scotty Cranmer – 900 for the 900K Challenge

April 24, 2017

We can’t imagine you’re too surprised to hear that Scotty Cranmer‘s Youtube channel has rolled over 900,000 subscribers, but today is the day! To celebrate, they brought in some help to pull off the 900K Challenge with a 900… Since Big Boy couldn’t make it happen. Luckily they were able to bring in Jared Heitzman to get the job done! Check out what went down!

“The channel has finally made it to 900,000 SUBSCRIBERS! And just like we do with every milestone we did a challenge video and this time the the big boy has an idea for trick. We all met up at the skate park and big boy was ready to go he wanted to go all out and push the limits on this one he said there is only 1 trick that could be done for 900K and that trick is the 900!! I couldn’t believe that big boy called a 900 out! I thought he was joking and before I can get him to pick another trick he was already on his way to the foam pit! He got on his bike and tried his best but he failed miserably and that’s when I knew we were going to have a long night ahead of us. But when he got out of the foam pit he immediately got on his bike to go try it on the resi ramp I begged him not to try it but in typical big boy fashion he sent himself and crashed pretty hard! At this point I decided the only way to stop him was to put the camera away. Then we started to think of a different trick to do and then big boy ran out of the skate park to rush back in like two minutes later claiming that he made a phone call and that in 30 minutes the 900 was going to be done! We were so confused by what he was saying he wouldn’t give us an answer he just told us to wait 30 minutes and we would find out! He then ran to the front of the skate park and got dodge balls out to have a dodgeball games to pass time! I couldn’t believe that for 900K we were playing dodgeball. But after 30 minutes big boy had a special guest come into the skate park and to our surprise it was our friend Jared and yes he’s fully capable of 900’s and told us that he was going to do the challenge! So crazy! Jared got on his bike got warmed up doing a lot of amazing tricks that only he can do and we were having an awesome time! then Jared decided it was time to attempt the 900 challenge. He tried the trick and crashed but he kept on getting up like a champion and trying again and again and eventually Jared blue everybody’s mind by landing the 900 and completing the 900,000 subscriber challenge! This subscriber milestone was a big one for us we are that much closer to getting to 1 million subscribers and we owe it all to everyone watching our videos every day and motivating and inspiring and myself and the rest of the crew to keep on pushing the limits of BMX! Thank you all for the support and let’s get the countdown to 1 million subscribers going!” – Scotty Cranmer

“Grow Up” Intro

“It’s easy to see Erik Elstran is a free spirit. Take one look at whatever colorful and delightfully eccentric outfit he’s sporting at any given moment (that he probably sewed himself), and it’s pretty clear this guy isn’t trying to run with the herd.

Watching him ride, it’s even easier to appreciate the breadth of Erik’s fertile imagination. Erik can do whatever he wants on his bike, and he chooses not to do what everyone else is doing. Erik could be a tech rail master or flat ledge god if he wished, stacking the usual tricks in new and innovative ways and linearly progressing BMX in standard increments, but he is destined for so much more.

You can always count on Erik to see a spot where no one else has and look at a classic spot in ways others haven’t. Erik’s M.O. is to seek out and locate a unique spot, and then do the unthinkable on it. Never content to simply make do with the obvious, it’s his determination to go above and beyond, to carve his own path and dream up ideas no one else would ever think of, that defines Erik’s riding.

Erik has more fun on his bike than anyone I know. He’ll happily ride the most ridiculous non-spot as hard as he can for hours, or, even more impressively, be 100 tries in filming some impossible trick and still laughing and cracking jokes. Even when riding at the highest possible levels, he’s really just playing around. While cataloging footage for Grow Up, I discovered Erik had – by far – the most B roll of anyone one the team, and nearly all of it was him being stoked and goofing off. Erik possesses a singular positivity and enthusiasm for living that radiates outward and inspires those around him.

It takes something very special to end a two-year full-length team video, and special is about the best word I can think of to describe Erik’s section. What Erik does is more than just bike riding; this borders on performance art. So go ahead and check out his part; I dare you not to smile.” – Walter Pieringer

FOD Trails – Super 8

April 24, 2017

We’re always stoked when Matt Cordova busts out the Super 8 camera for a filming project. Here’s a look at some clips he collected with the camera from a session at FOD Trails! It’s pretty awesome seeing how the camera almost makes it look like it was straight out of the 70’s, but with modern day riding. Love it! Enjoy!

“Took the Super8 out to FOD Trails to capture a session with Joey Cordova, Nathan Sykes, and myself. Here’s what it looked like through the lens of my 1978 Bell and Howell Super8.”

Johannes Winkelmann In Barcelona

April 24, 2017

There’s no shortage of footage coming out of Barcelona, Spain, but that doesn’t mean we’re over it by any means. Every rider seems to find some new spots or brings their own style and bag of tricks to everything they touch. Johannes Winkelmann is the latest to put his mark on the city and this is the video to show how it was done. Johannes brings a good mix of tricks from spins to crankflip and barspin combos, grinds and more. This has a pretty chill vibe, but don’t let that fool you! You won’t be disappointed with this one.

Filmed on Sony A7 and Sony A7sii.

Zach Newman Goes The Distance and Comes Up Short

April 23, 2017

Most of us have been in this position, probably nowhere as gnarly as this though! Zach Newman isn’t scared to go fast and send a big gap, but things don’t always go to plan. The other day Zach decided to send a gap that he has been thinking about for a while at his local skatepark. It’s a step up, over a rail, over a fence and into a halfpipe. It appeared to be about a 30 foot gap, maybe a little more. Zach cranked his ass off from the other side of the park, but ended up coming up just short and ended up taking a slam that was far from pleasant. I guess the fence almost did it’s job of keeping him from going over, right? Either way, Zach ended up alright, luckily. Nothing too serious beside a few bumps and bruises! Take a peek and prepare for your jaw to drop.

“This gap has bothered me for awhile now so the only way to get it out of my head was to try. More angles coming soon.“
