“More Than A Job” Twenty Years of Unit 23

There’s another one celebrating 20 years! Unit 23 Skatepark in Scotland!

There has been a few 20th anniversary celebrations to kick the year off from Gary Young’s 20 Years on Odyssey to the 20 Years of Catty Woods. The crew at Unit 23 Skatepark are also celebrating 20 years of riding and good times! Here’s a video BSD produced telling the story of the park from how it all came about on up to what the place looks like today!

“Unit 23 is a mecca for BMX and has played an important part in the history of BSD.

Over the last twenty years the park has seen a lot, far too much to cover in a mini documentary, and with some antics that best never see the light of day anyway! To mark the occasion we wanted to look back on some of the key moments in the park’s history.

Here’s a fresh one we had sent through featuring Chris Bates puting his deep bag of tricks to work on the Southsea and Prevail parks over in the U.K, along with a little trails action for good measure. This has a ton of great riding from a rider we’re not all too familiar with. Take a look!

“This video is a BMX edit I’ve made from clips off my camera roll. If I’m honest I was debating whether to post this or not because I feel like it doesn’t show my capabilities on the bike but let me explain! I’ve been trying to film a proper edit for a while but unfortunately due to circumstances I haven’t been able to film a lot and won’t be able to for quite a while now. But that being said I’ve regretted not posting videos I’ve made in the past as it would’ve been nice to watch them back now and enjoy the memories of growing up riding with everyone but unfortunately they’re lost!
So for this reason I’ve decided to piece this video together and upload it because at the end of the day BMX is meant to be for fun and there’s still a couple things I am proud of in this edit!” – Chris Bates
