Review: “Era of Chubbs”

It’s been a while since we’ve done a DVD review and it is not because there is a shortage of DVD’s by any means. The U.K in particular has been pumping out DVD’s like crazy lately (as well as the rest of the world) and it’s great to see because every day we see so much great footage get lost in the abyss of the internet. DVD’s are just one of those things that will always be good to see show up in the mail and you can sit down and enjoy it without distractions from Facebook and everything else.
The other day we received a copy of the “Era of Chubbs” video that our friend, Mark Sutton recently released as the latest Ascension video. We figured maybe you guys have been hearing some things about the video and were curious to know what it’s all about. So here’s what we thought…

Insight: GoPro Hero 3 + & The GoPro App

Technology is a funny thing. It’s literally to the point where you find something new on a daily basis that you didn’t even know existed, but once you have it you cannot imagine living with out it. Cameras are something that are constantly evolving whether it be better quality images being produced, more functionality or a more compact design. In the past 15 years or so, I’ve been toying around with video cameras, filming my friends and I screwing around on our bikes. I’ve gone from Hi-8 tapes and Mini DV’s to tiny memory cards that can hold more footage in high-definintion than 3 tapes combined. It’s pretty amazing constantly seeing and be able to give the new technology a go with BMX being my excuse to use it. The other day my mind was blown thanks to GoPro and their new Hero 3+ camera and iPhone app. Let’s take a look at this…

Insight: Shadow Conspiracy – Valor Tire

There has been a lot of talk about tires lately. I don’t know what has lead to it, but it has, for the most part, been a good thing. Over the years, tires have changed quite a bit thanks to trends, riding styles and the use of different materials that stepped away from the traditional tires we saw for years. After 4 years, The Shadow Conspiracy decided it was time to take their popular Undertaker tire to the drawing board and give it a modern revamp. Insight: Fit Bike Co. – T/A Tire

This past winter we got an email from Chris Moeller over at Fit Bike Co. wondering if we would be interested in checking out something they were cooking on that would be out this spring. As always, we were more than interested to take a peek into just what they were working on. Shortly after, he hit us back with some photos of their new T/A tire and asked if we would be interested in giving a sample they had in their possession a go. There was no way we could pass up the offer, so we had them on the next shipment out their door to check out in person!
After giving these guys a go for a while and the tires finally being released worldwide here in the next few days, we figured it would be good time to give you guys a look just incase you’re looking to get some fresh rubber on your bike for the warmer weather hitting the northern hemisphere. Insight: Fit Bike Co. X Etnies – Dugan and Lewis “Battle of the Fittest”

BMX has been doing some really rad collaborations over the years. There have been a handful of brands that have teamed up to work on projects and it has lead to some aesthetically pleasing limited edition products that are easy to be stoked on. Most recently, Fit Bike Co. and Etnies have teamed up with their shared team riders, Tom Dugan and Ben Lewis, to work on a special project that included complete bikes, shoes and a few different shirts.
