Lee says
Tighten the spokes gradually in small increments, going around the rim several times rather than doing it all in one go. A quarter of a turn each time is usually sufficient. The smaller the adjustment you do each time, the better the end result will be i.e. the closer to perfectly true it will be.
Whenever you tighten one side, loosen the other side by the same amount, otherwise you may end up with spoke tension imbalance leading to an up and down wobble.
You should tighten / loosen past the point that you need to, then back up. So when tightening a quarter of a turn, turn the nipple half a turn then back up a quarter. That way, you avoid spoke twist.
Also, squeeze each group of spokes HARD after each round of tightening. Wear a thick leather glove (like a gardening glove) to protect your hand.
