Jiboholic – Backyard Boogie

April 11, 2017

The Jiboholic crew coming through with some clips from some time they spent riding a flat rail and grind box in an alley. This is a pretty short edit and the film quality is a little rough, but there is some solid riding to take in. Check it out!

“A couple of the homie linked up at Daniel Yanez pad and chill, posted and filmed some clips. This is what we go. “Zote” ft Al, Daniel martinez, Anthony boy Flores, Christian Martinez , and Daniel Yanez. Swaps was around plus others.“

Dan Kruk BMX Bike Check Wethepeople Battleship

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind past year for Dan Kruk. In that time he’s been bumped up to the Wethepeople and Madera, had his first batch of signature products like the Konfetti Battleship frame colorway and Madera Party Paint Colorway, made the official move out to California, traveling a bunch and staying super busy stacking clips. Now that his signature colorway for the Battleship frame is available, we figured it was a good time to catch up with Dan and get a look at his current setup and talk a little bit about the bike, a new signature part he has in the works and more. Let’s get into it!

What’s the newest part on your bike?
Newest part is probably some spokes!

What’s the oldest? Does it have any sentimental value?
Oldest part is probably the peg cores and they just work good so I keep using them!

You’re running your signature Battleship frame colorway that Wethepeople just released. What are some of your favorite parts about the frame?
Well, I really like the color first of all, and I love how responsive the geometry is. It’s pretty much what I would choose if I had my own signature frame so I was very fortunate to have my colorway on it!

Actually, how crazy is it for you to have your name on the bike you’re riding?

I actually always forget I have signature anything, I just still do the same stuff I’ve been doing since I was 12 and really don’t think about the signature aspect of it. It is pretty cool to make my bike look how I want it, pretty crazy feeling.

What do you usually change out the most on your bike?
I think I go through grips the most because I always end up ripping them right away some how!

Are you the kind of rider that likes working on your bike, or do you try to avoid it as much as possible?
I really like to make sure my bike is pretty dialed, it works the best that way. Any weird noises or movements feel bad to me, so I just make sure everything is tight and greased up.

How often do you get the chance to build up a new bike?
I try to build a new bike twice a year, usually just to switch up the color scheme and having a fresh whip is never a bad thing

Do you like the swap out parts on a regular schedule or do you kind of run things until they’re dead?
Usually run them till they are dead, I feel bad asking for new stuff if I don’t really need it.

We’ve noticed that you have fully embraced the Chicago lifestyle. What are some of the benefits to running the bars forward like that for you?
There always has to be a bar question haha. It honestly makes spinning and whip tricks way easier. Just the positions your bike can get in are way crazier and really unlocks all kinds of stuff.

Are you pretty particular about the way you have your bike setup or do you like to change things up to see how it feels?
I pretty much keep my bike the same always, my bars definitely have to be in the right spot though otherwise my bike feels so bad

We actually heard a little something about a pair of signature bars that you’re working on with Wethepeople. Can you tell us a little bit about those and when people can expect to see some prototypes?
Yes! I am getting my first signature product in the form of bars! Some quick specs are 9.25 tall, 11 back and 2.666 upsweep. They are named the Stallis bars because that is a nickname of the city I grew up in, West Allis, Wisconsin. I should be receiving my first protoypes in the next few weeks and I can’t wait to try them out!

Will the bars be designed to run Chicago or is that optional?
Haha, Chicago position and even more forward are the only angles!

So you have your signature frame colorway and signature hub colorway from Madera, the new bars¦ Any other signature products you’re able to let us in on?
As of right now those are the only things I have on my plate, I am very thankful for everything I have at the moment. It’s still crazy to me that I have anything!

We caught up with you not too long ago, but we might as well ask! Any news you can tell us about as far as trips, video projects or anything with the sponsors you can tell us about?
Heading to Fresno, CA in a few weeks for a quick WTP trip, then hopefully Ecuador in May. My new Dan’s Comp edit should be dropping any day now. Just keep your eyes peeled for more!

How can people keep up with you these days?
Follow me on Instagram @dankrukbmx

Do you have any shout outs or thanks?

Thanks to all my sponsors, friends and family for all the support. Shout out to Kurt for the interview!

Anything else you want to say?
Anyone have a 6mm I think my bars slipped.

UK Vert Series 2017 – Round 1 – Beast Rampz Manchester

April 11, 2017

The other day we got a look at what went down during the UK Park Series 2017 stop at Unit 360, now we get a look at what went down during the first round of the UK Vert Series 2017 that took over that Beast Rampz for a day of big airs and plenty of good times. We don’t see a ton of vert footage these days, so it’s pretty awesome seeing this series rolling along on its 5th year with a solid turnout of riders willing to drop in. This event is rad because all the proceeds go directly to the park that’s hosting the event.

More on the next stops of the Park Series here and the Vert Series here.

FBM At Powers Bike Shop

April 11, 2017

The FBM crew made a trip on over to the Powers Bike Shop for their one year anniversary Jam! The shop has a few ramps out back and the crew had a proper session. Check out all the flips, whips and more that went down!

Greg Illingworth – Max & Flats In Australia

April 11, 2017

Greg Illingworth just dropped a new video on his Youtube channel from his trip down to Australia for the Vans BMX Pro Cup stop in Sydney. This starts out with a few random clips from cruising around, but about mid way through it gets to riding and some of the good times that were had on the course, despite a bit of rain and wind. Despite the weather not quite cooperating, it looks like Greg had a real good time on his trip. Take a peek!

“One rainy week in Sydney for the Vans BMX Pro Cup. Spent most of the time laughing at Maxime Charveron.”

The Trip – Augie Simoncini “Trip Tape” B-Sides

April 10, 2017

The Trip released their “Trip Tape” full-length video the other week and it turned out damn good! As you could imagine, the team ended up having a TON of leftover footage from scraps to crashes and random clips they collected on and off their bikes. They’ve decided to put the footage together instead of letting it go to waste. First up, we get a little over 11 minutes of raw footage featuring Augie Simoncini! Even though this is B-Roll, there’s still a ton of gold to take in, so hit that play button and take it all in!

“Take a look into what it took to get some of the clips from Augie’s ender section in TripTape.

Available now at TheTripped.com in Digital Download or DVD.”

Fit Bike Co. – “Savages” Behind the Scenes

April 10, 2017

Last week we got a look at the Savages video from Fit Bike Co. that featured Matt Nordstrom, Ethan Corriere and Justin Spriet putting their signature Savage frames to good use. Today, we get a look at just about 10 minutes of raw clips from 2nd angles to scraps that didn’t make the cut, crashes, random non-riding clips and more. This is pretty interesting to watch since these guys put a lot of time into stacking clips for the video!

After you watch this video…

Featuring Matt Nordstrom, Justin Spriet, Ethan Corriere, Tony Malouf, Chris Eiland, Austin Augie and Morgan Long.”

Sunday Bikes – Mark Burnett “Grow Up” Section

April 10, 2017

Sunday Bikes coming through with another banger of a section from their “Grow Up” DVD for your viewing pleasure. This time around we get Mark Burnett‘s section that’s filled with some serious rail and ledges savagery (is that even a word?) that will blow your mind. Mark is the definition of a grind technician, but he’s also not scared to huck a 540 off a huge drop, either. If you watch this BMX video and your jaw doesn’t drop or some combination of vulgar words don’t come flying out of your mouth, something is very wrong with you. Hit play and enjoy!

After you watch that, check out more from “Grow Up” here…

“Grow Up” Intro

“Shooting with Mark Burnett is a treat. As soon as Mark says he wants to film something, three things are already assumed: it’ll be really really hard, he’ll pull it, and it’ll be perfect.

This young man is unbelievably confident on his bike and will casually fire out hyper-elaborate tech combos and the most dangerous and intimidating stunts without breaking a sweat. Mark has this extraordinary ability to set aside any fear and lingering doubts and fully commit to every go. I guess it’s easy to be confident when you’re as comfortable on your bike as Mark clearly is.

It’s not hard to see how Mark rides at such a high level – his enthusiasm for riding is virtually unmatched. He’s always the one pushing for the night mission after a long day of filming, and he’ll happily solo sesh his flat rail for hours on end. His energy is seemingly limitless, and it spreads easily. Mark brings a lot of life to any situation.

Even with his abundant skill, Mark works for it. He’s constantly pushing his limits – it’s fair to say he goes down harder and more frequently than anyone else on the team (he has the ender crash section in the Grow Up bonus), but the struggle is no match for his determination. Mark shrugs off the most brutal wrecks and keeps going until he lands it or physically can’t continue.

Mark’s natural ability, boundless energy, unstoppable drive, and sheer love of riding make him the ultimate video part filming machine. These characteristics, matched with the nearly 100 days he spent on the road shooting for Grow Up, create a sort of perfect storm for an epic video part, and you really should check it out.” – Walter Pieringer
