Cult – Raw AMS

February 20, 2017

Cult coming through with a new video to give their AM team some shine.

There is no denying that Cult have a very extensive network of riders from around the world from Pro to AM, flow and homie hook ups. Here’s a video they just dropped to give a little light to their AM team featuring Grant Germain, Jeromie Odesa, Ryder Poye, Preston Okert, Justin Gautreau,Richie Hernandez, Andy Garcia, Adam Acardi and Mikey Tyra going to work on spots. There were a few names on that list we weren’t even familiar with, so get on that play button and take it all in. This is packed full of hammers and some rad spots.

“Check out an edit from some of the homies we have been supporting…Bottom line is we do our best to help these guys do their thing and continue to enjoy riding their bikes….Young people have the power to change the world, join us now…”

Frostbike 2017 – Eclat BMX

February 20, 2017

Let’s keep moving at Frostbike 2017! The next stop was to see what Harry and Paul had on display for Eclat! As always, they have plenty to take in with their extensive line of parts, plus they even snuck a few sneak peeks in for good measure. There’s plenty to see, so let’s get into this one!

Up top we have the Venom Pegs in their new Military green color option!

Let’s just right into a sneak peek that we’re probably more intrigued by than some of you might be, but it’s a cool idea. Eclat are working on their new “Tube Amp” pack that is a two pack of tubes, but they aren’t just your typical tube that has the rubber valve stem like the other ones out there. They’ve opted for a full metal valve stem that MTB / Road brands use with a lock ring to keep the valve in place. This is just a sample, and the ring is supposed to be gold to match the stem, but it still gives you a look at how it looks on the rim. It gives you plenty to grab onto with your pump. Not sure on exact release date, but I believe it’s March since that’s been the time when a lot of brands are dropping some of their new pieces.

As we mentioned above, these Tube Amp packs come with two tubes versus just a single. It’s a little more expensive to buy two, but you ultimately save a little money if you were going to buy two separate tubes. Win / win, right?

Here’s one we’ve seen seeing popping up since last year. Eclat have been working with their Strangler Bars and Slattery stem that use a 25.4mm size versus the traditional size that stems and bars come in. If you’re curious about why thy’re offering this, you can learn all about it right here.

Eclat offer a couple different front and top load stems, so there’s likely an option that’s perfect for you.

Here’s a little sneak peek that Eclat had on display. This is the new Onyx sprocket that is cold forged and will have a different design on each side, essentially making it two sprockets in one since you can run it either way.

The Maverick cranks and RS Sprocket.

Another look at the RS Sprocket and the 4 Stroke half-link chain.

Here’s a look at the Alex Kennedy signature AK Full Guard Sprocket that comes with a replaceable plastic guard. This sprocket has been available for a little while now and you can get full specs and details on it right here.

The Pulse cassette hub with dual hub guards to keep you grinding and rolling smooth.

Here’s a look at the Mirage tire all folded up! You can get a better look, along with full specs and details on this tire right here.

The Alex Kennedy signature neon yellow color on the Raven rim has been getting a lot of buzz lately from riders that have been wanting to get them… The wait is over and they are available now.

Here’s a look at the Seeker pedal in the new Military green color.

The Alex Kennedy signature pedal with replaceable metal pins on a plastic body with an oversized axle and bushings instead of bearings.

Bruno Hoffmann‘s signature Bruno grip in the middle there.

Eclat offer a number of grips and color options.

The Cortex front and rear hub, along with the Teck hub creeping in the background.

Eclat offer a number of seats in Pivotal and Tripod styles and color options.

Can’t go wrong with a proper allen key and a friendly reminder of which way you need to be turning that wrench.

That wraps things up with the Eclat booth at Frostbike 2017! Let’s keep moving!

Frostbike 2017 – ODI Grips

February 20, 2017

Next stop at Frostbike 2017… ODI Grips!

After checking out the Odyssey Frostbike 2017 booth, we moved on over to the ODI Grips booth where we got a look at two of their new items that will be available soon. First up, a Sneak Peek look at the new Mike “Hucker” Clark signature grip that is in the works. This grip is unique because it uses two durometers of rubber, allowing to mix and match colors. For example, here’s a look at the black with neon green. The outside features a rad design with waves, a Palm tree and “Hucker” made from a softer rubber material that is nice on the hands. Under that, the green layer, is a harder rubber that helps keep the grip locked down to the bars better, reducing slipping and twisting.

Here’s a look at the inside of the grip giving you a look at the harder durometer rubber.

“Hucker” carved into the grip with a palm tree logo. It’s pretty rad what you can do with this dual layer style grip.

Here’s a better look at the waves and sun on the outside of the grip.

We couldn’t give you a look at another prototype sample color that uses some different colors and mixes the bar ends we’re going to show you below, but we know there will be a certain type of rider that will be really stoked on it. But you will have to wait to see that one… Until then…

…. Here we have a look at the new Hybrid bar end that ODI will be releasing in the near future as well. These bar ends also have an aluminum cap that helps to prevent the cap head from breaking off. These are similar to the BSD grips that also use a similar design. You can find rounded edges and then on the bottom there’s a ridge that lets your bars slide in, so the aluminum cap overlaps the bars a bit to help protect the plastic plug better. These will be available in a number of colors. One again, we couldn’t show you the color that will be available with another combo of the grips above, but you’re free to let us know if you have any guesses below…

That wrapped up the new items at the ODI Grips booth. They had a TON of grips on display for all the different aspects of bicycles from BMX to MTB and more, but we’ve all seen the classic Longnecks, Roughnecks and Cult X Vans grip they make, so we figured it would be better to focus on these two items.

We’ll have more from Frostbike popping up today, so keep checking back!

Frostbike 2017 – Odyssey BMX

The Frostbike 2017 tour begins…

This past weekend was the annual Frostbike show at QBP in Bloomington, Minnesota. This show is a smaller version of Interbike that works exclusively with the brands they carry and invites the shops that QBP work with. This is a great opportunity for brands to meet the shops and vice versa. It’s also an opportunity for brands to display their current products and even a few products that will be available in the near future.

Our first stop of the day was at the Odyssey table to take a look at what Nuno had on display. As expected, Odyssey brought in a few new items that you might not have seen just yet, along with a number of parts that are available worldwide now. Let’s take a look.

Up top we have a look at the new three piece cranks that Odyssey will be releasing in March. These cranks are more traditional than their Thunderbolt cranks that have been out since 2011 and utilize a 2-piece system. These were brought in as an option for people who prefer the standard 3-piece style with 48-splines so you can run regular or Spline drive sprockets. More details on these will be available soon.

The 49er Four Piece Bars have been available since last year and are available worldwide. You can find full specs and details on these bars right here.

The Antigram hub has been available since 2014 and has been rolling smooth since. If you’re looking for a front hub that’ll hold up, these might just be worth looking into!

The Clutch Freecoaster that utilizes Odyssey’s unique internals and an adjustable slack that allow you to externally adjust through the metal slider. If you want to learn about this hub, you should definitely check out our Insight on the Clutch hub.

The Tom Dugan signature Grandstand pedals in clear plastic. These have a wider and narrower shape to give you plenty of comfort and grip.

The Fang Sprocket for those of you who don’t need a guard on your sprocket.

If you prefer a full guard to protect your sprockets while grinding, Odyssey also have their La Guardia sprocket as well.

Here’s a look at Odyssey’s Graduate peg that came out last year. This plastic peg should help keep you grinding if you prefer plastic over metal.

Aaron Ross signature Boss grip next to the Broc Raiford signature Raiford grip.

Here’s a new one for you! The new Roloway hub from G-Sport. I believe Nuno said this one will be available in March, so we’ll make sure to get you full specs and details as soon as it is available.

Keep those bars spinning smooth with the Odyssey headset.

Need to keep your bike from rolling away when you aren’t looking? The Slugger U-Lock should help out with that.

Don’t need a full on U-Lock, but you would like to have a basic cable style lock for when you hit up the gas station for some snacks? The Kable Lock might be what you need.

Here’s a close up look at the new Litehouse rim that we got a look at back in November. If you want full specs and details on this rim, you can get those right here.

Can’t go wrong with Odyssey’s fork thanks to their 41-Thermal heat-treating. Here’s a close up of the R25 Fork that has been available for a few years now.

Here’s one we were excited to get a look at in person. The brand new Travel Tool that will be dropping in March. Similar to the DK Random Wrench or Shadow Conspiracy Multi-Tool, but with Odyssey’s own take on in. You can get all the details on this BMX Tool right here.

Here’s another Sneak Peek for your viewing pleasure. After years of rocking the Twisted PC pedal without any changes beyond the endless color options, they have decided to create a second version (Don’t worry, the Twisted PC will still be available) with the Twisted PC Pro pedal. This pedal utilizes the same look and features as the classic, but features a larger, slimmer body similar to the Dugan Pedal we saw above. I believe this will be available in March, but I could be wrong. Either way, we’ll let you know as soon as these BMX pedals become available.

The Uniguard from G-Sport that slips over the dropout versus inside the dropout on the hub shell like other hub guards. Slide your wheel on, then this guard, then your peg and you’re good to go. No messing with hub hardware or anything.

Ready for another sneak peek? The new and improved Vandero Pro hub. It takes the classic Vandero hub with a few tweaks like drive and non-drive side hub guards that come stock. Can’t go wrong with that option if you’re into grinding. Available in March. We’ll keep you posted!

That wraps things up for the Odyssey table at Frostbike 2017. This is just the start, you can check out more below!
