The Most Expensive Custom BMX Bike?

Yesterday we posted up The Most Expensive Complete BMX Bike which came in at $1,099.99 for a price tag. That got us thinking, what would be the most expensive BMX bike you could build if you took the most expensive parts from Dan’s Comp and compiled it into one bike… Well, we had a little free time so we decided to give it a whirl and you might be surprised on this one, haha. This is the most expensive custom built BMX bike we could compile as of December 24th, 2015. Let’s get to “shopping”!

Nitro Circus – Brandon Schmidt: Triple Backflip

2015 has been the year for some heavy progression when it comes to flips on a BMX bike. Jed Mildon did a Quadruple backflip, then Ryan Williams did a triple front flip… Now today we get to see the third* (not sure if that’s actually fact or not) rider, Brandon Schmidt, in the world pull a triple backflip. One thing all of these guys have in common? They’re all apart of the Nitro Circus crew. What’s even crazier is that Jed is the only one who rides BMX professionally, where the other two just do it for fun with their focus on other stuff. Either way, here’s a video giving you a look at Brandon putting in the work and landing the triple backflip.

Custom Riders – The Worlds First Scooter BMX

It was only a matter of time before somebody realized that they could connect a scooter to a BMX fork since they both use 1 1/8″steerer tubes. Unfortunately, Custom Riders put one of these frankenstein contraptions together and decided to cruise around on it for a day. Is it weird all we keep thinking is “so that’s what they mean by birth defects by inbreeding” when we see that? Either way, somebody needs to kill this thing before it catches on like chainless riding did back in the day, haha.

The Factory – Minnesota Mayhem Team Contest Highlights

On December 20th, The Factory in Minneapolis invited everyone out for their first ever Minnesota Mayhem BMX jam and Team Contest that Kenny Short organized. It was definitely a different approach than most BMX contests in the world. The concept was pretty straight forward. Have six of the youngest riders at the contest take turns picking team mates of all ages and skills, then they would go head to head on three different sections of the park. Each team had their own jam, racking up points that would be calculated toward one score as a team.
