The Bloom BMX – Ride Like A Girl Weekend At Woodward East

April 28, 2025

Check out highlights from the Ride Like A Girl weekend!

The ladies at The Bloom BMX teamed up with Ride Like A Girl and Woodward East for the Ride Like A Girl Weekend that brought a ton of the ladies together for a weekend of riding and good times. Here’s a highlight video to check out what went down!

“The Bloom BMX hosted their first BLOOM WKND event at Woodward Camp in partnership with Ride Like a Girl, a weekend that was dedicated to women 17+ during Woodward’s open ride sessions over Easter Weekend.

Women’s BMX is growing rapidly; in fact, we saw a +39% increase in global Googling activities for “Women’s BMX” during the Paris 2024 Olympics compared to Tokyo 2020. To us, that confirms what we’ve been seeing, that women of all ages are getting into BMX; girls who are starting younger and women who are starting later in life.

During a normal summer season, Woodward Camp is geared towards riders 17 and under, and while adult camp weekends exist, they are few and far between and aren’t tailored to women. Late last year, we also lost the Wheel Mill, leaving us with one less Women’s Weekend event to look forward to. By creating Bloom WKND, we wanted to fill that void but also give the experience that most adult women haven’t had yet, and that was being able to ride with other women at Woodward Camp!

After this weekend’s event, the difference was clear: riding with other women created a level of camaraderie, relatability and encouragement that helped you accelerate your progression. Throughout the weekend, we had yoga sessions, jams and gave our riders the freedom to explore the facilities Woodward Camp had to offer – we also lucked out on the weather! We saw women riding in packs, a rare and meaningful experience, and during the hangout on Saturday night, we had the riders share something about their day, and it was clear that it was an impactful weekend. Grab some tissues and watch the recap below, and we’ll hopefully see you next year.

Thank You!

Thank you to the sponsors, the riders and especially the Bloom crew: Carley Young, Nina Buitrago, Cory Coffey, Jamie Bestwick, Kerry Bestwick, Bethany Hedrick, Angie Marino, Kate Bordenave, Maddy Mario, Perris Benegas, Jessica Ausec and Charlotte Worthington. Thank you for giving up your time to make sure each rider left feeling accomplished and going beyond to make sure this event was a success. A lot of memories were made, and a lot of mental barriers were broken down because of you.

Thank you to the Woodward East staff and our sponsors: Albe’s BMX, Cult BMX, Dan’s Comp, Fit Bike Co, Kink BMX, Moody Culture Kombucha, Odyssey BMX, Rad Share, Red Bull, Rothrock Coffee, Sunday Bikes and Vans BMX for supporting women’s BMX and making our event possible.

Andy Maguire – Radical Sabbatical

April 28, 2025

Andy Maguire dropped a new mix for your viewing pleasure!

You know it’s going to be a good week when Monday morning you get a message from Andy Maguire with a link to his latest video he put together. Here’s 3 minutes of riding from the San Jose area featuring Andy and the rest of the crew going to work on spots over the past few months. It sounds like Andy shook some things up in his personal life, and sometimes that’s the spark that it takes to get back on it. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more here soon! Check it!

“Earlier this year, I stepped down from a job that I worked at for almost 10 years to focus more on the aspects of my life that bring me joy. Most of this video was filmed in the long months leading up to taking that big leap. These sessions were therapeutic, allowing me to explore, learn, and socialize in a way that keeps me motivated to ride BMX. And after 3 months away from the grind, I feel like my life is a lot more balanced and fulfilling, getting to put my A-game energy back into family and riding rather than a job that was becoming increasingly dissatisfying. Big thanks to everyone who was in front and behind the camera in this one. Riders include Samar Carrillo, Andy Maguire, Milad Karimi, Michael Kohn, Dan Romeo, Tim Maguire, Josiah Bledsoe, Kord McKinney, Josh Gray, Eric Mesta and Reed Zirjacks.” – Andy Maguire

Matrixé is the desire to keep quality clips, for a project that will last over time, in an era where everything disappears in 24 hours.

Matrixé is the story of a BMX CREW, that is addicted to instant glory on social media, that is working full time, that has girlfriend, family life, injuries etc, that decided to film for a full length and keep stacking clips, for a project that will be alive forever in a time where everything dies in 24 hours.

WITH VALENTIN COTOT, MATHIEU PAILLON, JAOUAD ABDELHOUARED, CUSTO, ANTOINE BOUCHARD, STEVE MAGRO, MATTIS DUPOUX, REMI DUPOUX, TIDIANE LIMOUSIN, JESSE LE SOMMER OLIVIER CIOFFI, and more.
