Rick Thorne – Unleashed Podcast

May 31, 2022

Monster Energy have released another episode of their Unleashed Podcast for you to check out! This time around they’ve sat Rick Thorne down to hear his story from how he got into BMX through his career as a Pro, appearances in movies, music and much, much more. Hit play and give this a listen!

“The podcast welcomes a true punk rock icon! UNLEASHED sits down with BMX legend Rick Thorne on a no-holds-barred episode. Tune in as podcast hosts The Dingo and Danny discuss the evolution of freestyle BMX with the rider who’s played his part in defining the sport and its lifestyle like few others.

Rick Thorne requires no introduction in BMX circles. Still riding hard at the age of 52, Thorne pushed the evolution of BMX riding as part of the elite Hoffmann Bikes team in the 1990s. At a time when pro BMXers were clean-cut athletes in race jerseys, Thorne earned the nickname ‘The Biker in Black’ by injecting a heavy dose of punk rock attitude and tattoo style. The multi-talent has appeared in blockbuster movies like ‘Mall Cop’ and ‘XXX’, hosted action sports TV programs, and today tours the world as a musician and stand-up comedian.

Want to learn more about Thorne and his “Stay Rad” philosophy? Press the play button (and hit Like) on the new episode of UNLEASHED with The Dingo and Danny Podcast.

Make sure to subscribe and stay tuned for more UNLEASHED episodes. Regular editions of the show are recorded live inside Studio M at Monster Energy headquarters in Corona, California and published bi-weekly. Also follow @monsterenergy for updates.” – Monster Energy

“So I never digitized MaddMatt. I only released it on VHS. So it has kind of been a lost tape, and it documented such a great era. Mad Matt 1995. This will flash you back to the mid 90s. I made this video with the Great Mark Eaton, and some of the raddest of the rad that helped build my dream. We worked and played hard. DIY to the core.
I called it Madd Matt because I felt we were fighting to survive and we were making a new world, and for some reason that made me think of Mad Max?
Anyway, thanks for digitizing this for me Kenny Horton and check out his new film.

Rick Thorne’s “Pool Seekers” – Furstcastle

June 24, 2017

Boost Mobile dropped this new video from a series called “Pool Seekers” where Rick Thorne takes a crew to different pools. This episode takes Rick, Keith Treanor, Brian Castillo, Andrew Lazurk and a few other riders and skaters to the Furstcastle pool. Here’s a look at what everyone got into. This one is a little cheesy with the whole sneaking in and “getting caught”, but overall it’s a good watch. Check it out!

“The Pool Seekers hunt down and session ‘Furstcastle’ the biggest backyard pool in America which holds 200,000 gallons of water. The boys were beyond stoked for this legendary session.“

Rick Thorne on Fire

May 12, 2014

I’m pretty sure the last person I saw ride a BMX bike on fire was Mike Escamilla… But it looks like Rick Throne decided he wanted to give it a go. Although, he didn’t ride like Mike did, he did give the Glory Hole a few carves. Take a peek.
