The Scrapes and Apes Jam 2021

It has been rad seeing BMX jams and contests starting to happen again. Here’s a video from The Scrapes and Apes jam that went down out in Colorado recently! This is just over 7 minutes of footage from the riding to the laughs and good times! Hit play and take a look at what went down!

“Pusher BMX, ABQDNV and Grindwheel combined to throw one hell of a jam at the Wheat Ridge Skatepark! The crew gave out over $400 for big moves on some of the signature features of the park. High-Vis vests and safety gear were in full effect as riders from all over the metro area showed out and supported the scene.

In this video, you can see what Colorado BMX is actually all about. There is never a shortage of drama here in the Mile High City. However, the true essence of the scene shows front and center in this flick. You can see people smiling, riding their bikes and sharing good times together. You get to view people of all skill sets out riding together and pushing themselves to learn something new. BMX was glorified greatly this day, and hopefully the video motivates you to get out there and have some fun. Because you can’t live forever, so you might as well have a good time for a short time. Monster – Jeremy Malott “Breakthrough”

Monster Energy have given Jeremy Malott the well deserved bump on up to the Pro team! Here’s his welcome video packed with insane ramp riding to show just why they made the move! Hit play and take it all in!

He will be representing the USA in the Olympics debut of Freestyle BMX in the Tokyo games this summer for another milestone in his pro journey.

Prody One – Hmmm, Prody!

Here’s a throwback for you! Clint Millar has begun uploading the old Prody videos he did back in the 90’s! Here’s the very first one from 1994 that is 50 minutes of old school goodness featuring Clint and a bunch of others. It’s pretty wild to think about the process of producing a video like this back then compared to how it’s done now days. Either way, there were only 10 copies of it, so it’s very likely not too many people have seen this one until now! Hit play and take it all in!

“Filmed throughout 1993 & released in early 1994 with only 10 VHS copies released at the time.

Featuring riding from all over Australia but mainly evolving around the Brisbane BMX scene.
At a time in BMX when rider numbers were at an all time low, the passion & love for BMX was stronger than ever though. If you saw another BMXer, you instantly knew they were into BMX as much as you were. BMX at it’s purest.

Not Far From Home – Tenerife

We’ve seen quite a few BMX / MTB crossover videos lately, and honestly… We’re not complaining. Here’s a new one from a trip Sergio Layos took with a few friends over to Tenerife where they road MTB at a bunch of amazing places, and Sergio caught some skatepark and ditch sessions where he delivered with amazing riding as always. Sergio definitely works his magic on anything with two wheels. There’s even some Ruben “Rubio” Rodriguez footage in this, which is always good to see, too! Take a look!

“With all the travel restrictions due to the pandemic is the perfect scenario to go to those places we have heard of and are just a days drive away, or in this case a short 2h flight to Tenerife!

When most people think about Tenerife or the Canary Islands, they usually visualize long sandy beaches and very dry, hot weather. What most people probably don’t know is that Tenerife is one of the best MTB destinations in the world.
Picture this: Tenerife is basically a massive volcano that comes straight out of the Atlantic Ocean. Pico del Teide is 3715 meters high, making it the tallest mountain in Spain and the perfect trap for storms traveling across the Atlantic. A lot of those clouds get stuck halfway up the mountain creating a ring of green, lush forests around the island. Usually those storms bring rain to the north side, forming jungle like thick rainforests while they keep the South dry and almost desert-like.
With this, there is every type of riding you could ask for all packed in one little island. Slippery tight tracks in the north jungle, grippy and loamy trails halfway up the mountain, dry and rocky terrain in the south and loose volcanic dirt at the top of Teide mountain. In one run from the top you can hit at least three different eco systems and track types.
There are trails everywhere and there is only one man that knows them all… Edgar Carballo.

When I started the Not Far From home series I knew that at some point we had to go to Tenerife to ride with Edgar, so once the travel restrictions allowed it I got the usual crew together: Kike Abelleira (photo), Nacho Trueba (video) and Sergio Layos (professional kids bike rider and occasional MTBer) and went to visit him.
