First BMX Street Contest Ever – 2 Hip Meet The Street (1988)

March 7, 2020

It’s pretty wild how much changes and how much stays the same in the course of 30 years. Snakebite uploaded this BMX video from the first BMX street contest ever, the 2 Hip Meet The Street contest that went down way back in 1988! The bikes were a little different, the there were a lot of tricks being done we still see today and it looks like the overall vibe was awesome. Take a look into the past.

Random thought watching this… Imagine if Garrett Reynolds went back in time and hit up this contest, haha. People would probably have brain aneurysms trying to process what he does.

“The first ever BMX street contest was held in Santee Ca. and was put on by 2-Hip. Featured riders are Dave Voelker, Chris Moeller, Craig Grasso, Todd Anferson, Pete Augustin, RL Osborn, Eddie Roman, Craig Campbell, George Smoot, Ron Wilkerson, Vic Murphy, Rich Bartlett, Dave Vanderspeck, Scott Towne, & more.” – Snakebite

These BMX cranks are a traditional style 3-piece crank with oval tapered tubing on the arms, sprocket bosses on both right and left arms, large radius spindle bosses and fully wrapped spindle and pedal bosses for strong, clean looking and ankle friendly arms. Inside you can find a hollow 48-spline, 22mm spindle and bolts that have a 3/8″ ratchet and 6mm broaches to make tightening these cranks down easy. March 6, 2020

When Tom van den Bogaard and Levin Weidmann roll up to a session, you know that you’re going to see something rad go down. Here’s a look at what these two threw down during a “jetlagged” session at Skatepark of Tallinn after a harsh 2 hour flight to Estonia for Simple Session. Despite this being a pretty laid back session, these guys still stacked some real solid clips for you to check out. Good mix of tricks and plenty of style!

“Two dutch lads ripping up the impressive Spot of Tallinn skatepark! Tom van den Bogaard & Levi Weidmann quickly got to work and sent some good lines.

Support The 2020 Nowear BMX Contests!

March 5, 2020

Nowear BMX Compound

As some of you know, the Nowear BMX crew out in Nebraska have been putting in a ton of work to build out a completely free for all indoor skatepark to ride. They’ve been doing some fundraisers over the course of the past few years and they’re getting super close to having the place all dialed in. They’ve been doing contests every summer and this year they have two in the works that will also double as a fundraiser for the park. Get full details on what’s in the works below!

“We are doing great at The Nowear Compound and are excited for what’s all in store for this year.
Our free indoor bike park project is going amazing and expect to have the park portion of the indoor done before this July.
We will then proceed to raise funds to finish the pump track room and final details.

We are hosting 2 big events this year with proceeds going towards our Nonprofit.

First event is July 18th Nebraska’s Cornhusker State Games and Nowear hosts the BMX freestyle contest at The Compound. The CSG organization provides us with EMT staff, porta potties and medals for all those who place. We are looking for additional sponsors to donate prizes to this event. This will be our first contest in the new indoor park.
https://www.facebook.com/events/2372132696411871/
There are 7 different classes at the event and 3 place per class.

Second event is our 7th annual Cornhuckit Jam Sept 19th. We will be promoting this event more than ever to raise maximum funds for our indoor project. If we are successful in doing so we should be able to finish our entire indoor pump track and all by the end of 2020. We will have live music throughout the day, camping available, food and product vendors, mini bmx comps and all weekend open riding. We are asking for any and all help with product and prizes for this event.
We will host a minimum of 4-5 mini events and give plaques and prizes to as many riders as possibly who do well for their own levels
https://www.facebook.com/events/1036643886714076/

Nowear will show appreciation by hanging up any banners that are sent, paint logos of company sponsors on our outdoor ramps that will remain there throughout the year and of coarse do lots of shout outs and thank you’s on our social media platforms.

NOTE: BMX companies who help with either events are welcome to set up a booth and sell product at no charge.

Fliers are being made currently for the events. When the artists have finished we will begin to add sponsor logos so please send us yours in an email so we can add them.

Thank you everyone for your consideration in helping Nowear continue to grow and help both riders and the local youth.
