We have always seen unique colorway options available on BMX frames and parts, but it seems like lately we have seen some exceptionally unique colors that look amazing. Colony recently unveiled their 2016 line and one item in particular that really caught our eye is their new Tradition frame kit with their limited edition Firestorm colorway. This kid includes their new Tradition frame, Guardian fork, Roaster bars, Squarback top load stem, Colony Headset and adjustable headset spacer. We figured the color was more than enough to take a closer look. Let’s get into this!
What would you imagine if you were to think of a “Fire Storm”? Well, we would imagine A LOT of fire, smoke, darkness and chaos… Which is exactly how you could sum up the Firestorm colorway. This frame has a black base with orange splatter that gives the appearance of fire, which looks so damn good. So, what’s the specs and details on this kit?
Tradition Frame
The Tradition frame is a new addition to the Colony product range for 2016 and it is their team designed frame that is more for bowl riding and trails. This full 4130 chromoly frame features a 74.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.5″ bottom bracket height, 9″ standover height and a 13.9″ chain stay length. You can find a heat-treated Integrated head tube, gussets on the top and down tubes, a tapered top tube, down tube and seat and chain stays, Integrated seat post clamp, heat-treated MID bottom bracket, a wide rear triangle for 2.40″ tires, heat-treated 5mm thick CNC machined drop outs, and removable brake mounts.
The Firstorm kit comes in 21″ only, but the Tradition frame is available in 21″ and 21.25″ top tube lengths with a weight of 5.22 lbs. and color options of gloss black and translucent black when sold individually. Note: The Firestorm colorway is only available as a kit.
Guardian Fork
The Guardian fork is one of those parts that has been apart of the Colony product range for a number of years. This fork is made from fully-heat treated chromoly with a 165mm long, fully CNC machined one-piece steerer tube with built-in bearing race and oversizes blowholes inside the steerer tube. The legs are single butted and tapered with 6mm thick CNC machined, 30mm offset 3/8″ drop outs. The Guardian fork is available in gloss black, chrome and limited edition Rainbow when sold individually and a weight of 1.98 lbs.
The Guardian fork is also available with brake mounts for those of you looking to get some front brake magic in your life.
Squareback Topload Stem
The Squareback topload stem is CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a 50mm reach and 30mm rise. The stem has additional machining throughout to give it a unique, clean look and help reduce weight, a recessed top for a flush compression cap, a Colony logo on the top cap and 6 chromoly bolts. This stem is available in colors of black, red, blue, purple, polished and a limited edition Rainbow colorway with a weight of 10.2 oz.
Note: The Firestorm kit comes with a black Squareback stem.
