Andy Maguire – Where’s The Beach Bro? Vol. 2

May 31, 2025

Andy Maguire uploaded a throwback from 2011.

One really cool part about filming videos, is years later you can look back on them and remember the way things were, and how much has changed since. Andy Maguire re-uploaded this video that he originally made back in 2011 (and we posted at the time) and even after 14 years it’s still a real good watch even with so much changing in that time. Hit play and take it all in!

“This is probably the first edit I made that captured the Santa Cruz riding vibe, though it may not have been completely intentional. The line up of riders, the spots, and of course the Boardwalk B-roll transports me back to when I really started to appreciate the beach town tourist trap that I’ve called home for the last 20 years. I feel like many of my edits have lent themselves to the rider, tricks, spots, or song but I feel like this one really did the scene justice, highlighting Santa Cruz as an important backdrop rather than merely a name on a map. One of the rare instances when the sequel is actually better than the original. This was also a great excuse to go on a date with my girlfriend (now wife) to the Boardwalk and borrow her flip cam.”

9/26/2011
“This is a Country Clubbin’ exclusive offer, saving you $5 per person to digitally experience the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s Giant Dipper. This roller coaster was constructed in 1924 and has been featured in a number of hit movies, including The Lost Boys and Dangerous Minds. You must be over 50″ tall to view, and preferably not a barney. Tourist season is out, but the edits keep washing up to shore. Featuring many familiar faces from Santa Cruz and a handful of tourists, Where’s the Beach, Bro? Volume 2 will surely be a memorable experience upon your visit to the Country Clubbin’ Blogspot.” – Andy Maguire

Andy Maguire – Radical Sabbatical

April 28, 2025

Andy Maguire dropped a new mix for your viewing pleasure!

You know it’s going to be a good week when Monday morning you get a message from Andy Maguire with a link to his latest video he put together. Here’s 3 minutes of riding from the San Jose area featuring Andy and the rest of the crew going to work on spots over the past few months. It sounds like Andy shook some things up in his personal life, and sometimes that’s the spark that it takes to get back on it. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more here soon! Check it!

“Earlier this year, I stepped down from a job that I worked at for almost 10 years to focus more on the aspects of my life that bring me joy. Most of this video was filmed in the long months leading up to taking that big leap. These sessions were therapeutic, allowing me to explore, learn, and socialize in a way that keeps me motivated to ride BMX. And after 3 months away from the grind, I feel like my life is a lot more balanced and fulfilling, getting to put my A-game energy back into family and riding rather than a job that was becoming increasingly dissatisfying. Big thanks to everyone who was in front and behind the camera in this one. Riders include Samar Carrillo, Andy Maguire, Milad Karimi, Michael Kohn, Dan Romeo, Tim Maguire, Josiah Bledsoe, Kord McKinney, Josh Gray, Eric Mesta and Reed Zirjacks.” – Andy Maguire

Andy Maguire – Full Moonatics & 38 Special

January 25, 2024

Andy Maguire sent through a double whammy for us to check out today!

We’re always stoked when Andy Maguire‘s name pops up in the inbox with a fresh edit to check out. This time around he hit us with two new videos. The first is a mix from the sessions he got with friends over the course of 2023 during their full moon sessions throughout the year. The second is Andy’s look back at his riding from 2023 as a whole. Both videos are loaded with great riding and good vibes, so make sure you check these out!

“Filming at night is nothing new in BMX, but what isn’t really explored is the reasons for doing it. Some places are so hot, the most comfortable time to ride is at night. More densely populated areas are often so bustling that the best time to be productive is when the average bystander has gone to bed. And for many, the only way to make time for BMX is when you punch out for the day and somehow still have the drive to pedal even after the sun has gone down. After becoming a dad, I learned that I was still very motivated to ride, but had to adapt to new responsibilities in order to keep the stoke alive. I began riding at night more often, despite not having a lot of decent spots, a well-lit skatepark or many others to ride with. Although far from perfect, night time sessions allowed me to balance a new phase of my life as well as make time to enjoy what I love to do.

Gradually, the sessions became less isolated and the stoke started to spread to others. Trips over the hill to ride in San Jose or other nearby cities led to some really fun sessions. A special camaraderie was growing from these night missions, with other riders finding ways to balance their work/responsibilities and make time for BMX. Even though night time conditions offer many challenges, the energy was something that we were all largely growing fond of. On nights where the moon shown in full and provided slightly more visibility, a certain kind of magic enveloped the sessions.

In 2023, I made it a goal to ride and film on every full moon and make an edit. When you think about it, you have 12 sessions to film, which isn’t a lot. Factor in people’s responsibilities/schedules, weather, spot selection, or simply people being tired, I realized this was quite a feat. Despite these setbacks, everybody came through, whether it was doing some sick moves, patiently filming, or simply providing good company. Big thanks to my family for supporting my idea, and all the riders involved. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the tradition of riding on the full moon in 2024, but this truly made riding in 2023 a special and memorable experience.

Andy Maguire – Summertime Radness

January 3, 2024

Andy Maguire sent through a fresh one from his summer sessions!

Whenever we see Andy Maguire‘s name pop up in the inbox, we know we’re going to be stoked on what he’s sending through. Here’s a fresh edit he cooked up from some of the summer sessions he caught with friends! No shortage of great riding and good times in this, so get on that play button and take a look!

“2023 went by in an instant. Although the crew and myself were riding pretty frequently all year, it felt like most of the documented action took place from a handful of sessions during the summer. We discovered wild new spots at places we thought were demo’d, rode a liberated hubba ledge that hadn’t seen action since 1999, had some late nights, and early starts. We also went to the beach to celebrate the life of our dear friend Murph, who passed away in 2022. This video is about warmth, camaraderie, and limited time. Whether it’s a spot to ride or a friend to hug, appreciate it while you can. Thanks to everyone who kept the session going, held the camera, shared a spot, or simply watched this video.” – Andy Maguire

Andy Maguire – Gassed and Pooped

August 3, 2023

Andy Maguire sent over a video from his trip to the Rumble In Richmond!

We always get real stoked when we see Andy Maguire‘s name pop up in the inbox. Here’s his latest video he sent through from a trip he took with his brother and Reed Zirjacks to Richmond, Virginia to check out the Rumble In Richmond, along with getting some riding on street spots and parks in the area. Hit play for 6 minutes of footage from the trip that looks like it was an absolute blast.

“Reed Zirjacks, my brother Tim, and I set out to spectate at the Rumble in Richmond 2023, and ride some of the finest spots the Mid-Atlantic had to offer. What came about was a 4 day BMX binge through Richmond, VA, Washington DC, and Baltimore MD. Tim and I also stopped in Chicago on the way back to California. With all of us in our mid-thirties, the amount of riding that went down was a bit of challenge, but the sights, spots and shredders we linked up with along the way made all the aches and pains well worth the experience. Big ups to Radshare and Steve Crandall for hosting an event like this, a great showcase of how fun and amazing the bmx community can be.” – Andy Maguire

Andy Maguire – Over The Hill

January 23, 2023

Andy Maguire dropped a new 23 minute mix from the San Jose crew.

We’re always stoked when Andy Maguire drops a new video. Here’s a fresh one he put together with over 20 minutes of footage he collected while out riding with friends around the San Jose area. This has a ton of real solid riding with a laid back vibe, making for a real good watch. Get on that play button and take a look!

““Over the hill” is a common phrase in Santa Cruz used to refer to the 20-30 minute drive over the winding and often heavily trafficked Highway 17 into San Jose. For many locals, San Jose might as well be the other side of the world. “Over the hill” is also an expression used to describe someone as passed their prime. A few weeks shy of turning 37 and still riding BMX, I sometimes feel this way as the sessions get shorter, my muscles get more sore, and the time to ride gets fewer and far between. However, the last two years have left me very energized to ride as a way to maintain friendships, fulfill goals, and bring positivity to a world that seems to get bleaker by the day. This video celebrates the many trips over the hill by either myself or my riding homies that live on the other side, and to appreciate the greater world outside of our respective bubbles. Finally, the passing of our beloved BMX brother, Jeff Murphy, further helped me respect the precious moments we create on our bikes, as well as the love the BMX community brings to help us through even some of the darkest times. Thanks for watching!” – Andy Maguire

Andy Maguire – Dad’s Junk Drawer

April 21, 2020

It has been a little while since we’ve seen a fresh BMX video from Andy Maguire, but he’s been busy living that dad life, which has cut back on the riding time, and time to make new videos. Fortunately he had some time to put together this new one from clips he’s been filming over the course of the past few years with his friends. Despite having less time, Andy still ended up coming through with some gold that we’re really stoked on featuring him and a few others going to work on spots. Hit play and check out just what they cooked up! Hopefully once things calm down a bit he’ll be able to find a little time to keep these videos coming!

“I knew that when my son was born, big life changes were sure to come. I didn’t think I’d end up sitting on two years of footage, only to get around to editing it because I was in the midst of a global pandemic. The thing is, I’ve had most of this on a timeline over the course of those two years, but it never felt right. It felt incomplete, jumbled, and a little lazy, much like that junk drawer most people seem to have in their kitchen. But when I revisited this, I started to rearrange some footage and make changes that made this feel a little more forgiving to my previous expectations. Seeing it all again through the lens of being a father, husband, employee and a bike rider(with drastically reduced hours), it didn’t feel like I was settling short. We always want to better, but sometimes you actually find what you need in that junk drawer. Once it’s organized in a functional way, it no longer has to be this cringeworthy thing in your life. So this edit is to celebrate riding while taking on new responsibilities, appreciate those who have moved in and out of town, the crew that has been with me for over a decade, the music they make, and those who might not be able to ride. Times can be difficult, but bike riding has made us strong, flexible, and capable of overcoming so many obstacles in the physical and mental realm. Enjoy!” – Andy Maguire
