Jibs ‘N Salsa 3 – Midnight Snacks

February 27, 2015

You know it’s going to be a good Friday when Andy Maguire drops a new Jibs ‘N Salsa in the inbox! Check out a bunch of clips that were filmed during the night sessions that him and a few friends got in this winter!

“On the regular, BMXers are out there challenging the every day molds of society. Just about every participant shows the average bystander what the possibilities on a bike can be, from a feeble stall on an over sized curb to a Mr. Dinner on the mega ramp. Outside the realm of “radical tricks,” many BMXers challenge the excuses people create to stay off a bike. “I have a job,” “It’s raining,” “It gets dark at 5,”; we’ve all heard these reasons, but sometimes you have to satisfy the urge no matter what. This winter, the weather conditions obviously weren’t stacked against me, made apparent by shorts and a t-shirt in many of these clips. But sometimes finding the motivation to get out there can be a challenge far greater than weather, responsibilities, lack of people to ride with, etc. I’m greatly looking forward to daylight savings, but I’m happy to know that I was able to get out, jib around, and even film some stuff during one of the least motivating times of the year. Big thanks to Reed and Greg for coming out with me, helping film, and even getting a few clips themselves.

The Moron Brothers

February 2, 2015

We’ve seen videos from Andy Maguire for years now, and I don’t think it ever occurred to us that he had a brother! Turns out Andy’s brother Tim is a shredder as well! Check out this split edit they just dropped filled with goodness and some music that came out before I bunch of you were even born!

“Who gave these guys a camera? I want to say this is about 16 years in the making, but maybe it’s more like 29. My brother Tim always made BMX look cool to me, and he was always the one in the group who was a step ahead of the game… First to do big gaps, first to hop 3, first to grind rails; needless to say, the man was a huge inspiration. Although we’ve both progressed tremendously over the years and our outlooks on riding have developed, nothing grounds me to the soul of BMX more than a good session with my brother. Thanks brother! Additional filming by Jordan Murdock and Reed Zirjacks, my BMX brothers.

Bust-A-Move

January 12, 2015

You know your week is starting off right when Andy Maguire sends through a new video! Check out this new mix from the crew out in Santa Cruz getting down on some spots they came across recently. That song choice is always on point.

“Here’s the first video I’ve made for 2015, and I couldn’t be happier as to how the crew is busting moves! From upping their rail game to broadening our scope of riding spots, 2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the riders in Santa Cruz. Featuring riding from Andy Maguire, Mario Alonso, Reed Zirjacks, Kurt Siever, Matt Nietschke, Greg Ohmer, Steve Kennedy, Max Landon, and Julio Rodriguez, with guest clips from Kip the skater, a full throttle campus cop, and a very hungry squirrel. In the grand scheme of things, I hope this video encourages you to get on your bike and bust-a-move!”

Andy Maguire – Traveling in 2014

December 8, 2014

It’s always a good day when Andy Maguire hits us with a new edit! Check out some fresh footage of him away from home at different parks and street spots he has come across along the way!

“I don’t really leave Santa Cruz a lot, but it was very refreshing and inspiring to put together a video from clips that were shot from out of town. I’m not sure if I’ve ever made a video part without at least one clip from good ol’ Santa Cruz. Whether it was the next county over or a couple of states away, traveling always challenges your take on riding and life in general. Although I love where I live, it’s great to get off the island and place yourself in new surroundings. Here’s to the end of this year, and to what the new year will bring! Thanks to everyone who filmed, came on a trip with me, or watched this video!
Filmed by Greg Ohmer, Chris McMahon, Mario Alonso, Greg Micklas, Nate Delp, and Tim Maguire
Guest Rider: Tim Maguire
Song: Rusted Root – “Send Me On My Way”

Andy Maguire – The 20″ Pianist

September 2, 2014

It’s a well known FACT that Andy Maguire doesn’t disappoint! Not only does he come through with some amazing riding, he tears up the piano for this new edit! Enjoy!

“Had to dust off the cob webs on a few tricks as well as my piano playing to make this happen. I can’t imagine how challenging it was for John Williams to come up with a space opera saloon song, and the range of instruments used in the actual song are pretty amazing. So this is for you, Mr. Williams! All of this was filmed in the 831, and thanks to everyone who pointed a camera at me in the process!”
