Thinking about picking up a G-Sport GLAND MKIV universal hub guard? Did you know there are two ways to install the guard on your hubs? Above is a video giving you a look at how the zip-tie method works and below you can see how to install the guard using the Manky Strap method! These hub guards are designed to work on most hubs, front and rear, so if you’re looking for a hub guard that is inexpensive and universal, this might just be the route you will want to take. These guard is available worldwide through all BMX shops and mail-orders that carry G-Sport worldwide.
Yesterday we dropped an Insight on Merritt’s new Tension Hub guard, now today we have a quick video showing you how to install the hub guard and just how the spring tension holds it in place. These are available through all shops and mail-orders that carry Merritt now! Pretty rad idea for a BMX hub guard.
Let’s be honest… The new Profile Racing Z-Coaster ain’t cheap! Protect the hub with this new hub guard they just released. This guard is made from 7075 aluminum right here in the U.S.A. It fits over the non-drive nut jam (Do not remove jam nut or cone) and is held tight through compression from your drop out as you tighten your wheel. It’s available in black only and can be picked up through all shops and mail-orders that carry Profile Racing or for $30.95 direct from the Profile Racing Webstore now.
Merritt have just released a handful of new products in their latest shipment. We’ve seen new stems, tires, sprockets and one item in particular that really caught our eye, the Tension hub guard. This guard is designed to be a universal hub guard that can be easily attached to the spokes by using a single spring clip that holds the guard in place with tension. This guard, similar to the original G-Sport G.L.A.N.D hub guard that uses zip ties to hold it to the spokes, is made from plastic with a 3″ diameter and slides over your existing hardware (non-drive). The guard has little blocks that fit between the spokes and the spring goes on using the blocks as guides to hold everything together. The Tension hub guard is available in black only with a weight of 0.9 oz. and is currently available through all shops and mail-orders that carry Merritt worldwide now.

There are a lot of ways to test the quality of a product. For example, to see how much grinding the new Tension Hub Guard from Merritt can take, they took a grinder to it to see just how long it would last. I don’t know about you, but I think it’ll get the job done.
“We took the grinder to our tension hub guard to show how durable it is. Having the spring inside you wheel allows you to grind forever and not worry about your guards coming loose or wearing out.On sale next week.”
After last week, when we got everyone all fired up about the different External Hub Guards that will all be available soon, our good friend Nuno at Mutant Bikes figured it would be good to drop us a line and explain the new Peguard that will be available at the end of this month worldwide and the External Hub Guard that will be available this summer!
