Some of you guys may have spotted this one on the Shadow Conspiracy Raptor Freecoaster Review we dropped a little while back and have been wondering more about just what it is. That unique “thing” spotted in that review is the Mutant Bikes Peguard that we got our hands on back in September at Interbike. This hybrid hub guard and peg combo is something we’ve been seeing pop up here and there for a few years now, but it looks like Nuno at Mutant is pretty close to finally releasing it. After running it for a while now, we decided it would be a good time to give you guys a closer look. Let’s do this!
Product: Cult – Nylon Guards
Here’s a better look and more detail on the new Cult Nylon guards that we got a closer look at during Interbike the other week. These guards have an 6061-T6 aluminum core with a Nylon 6 polymer sleeve that slides smooth and gives it that matte black look like a glock gun. These guards slide over the cone nuts on all of Cult’s Match front, V1 and V2 cassettes and Match V1 and V2 freecoaster hubs. Clean and simple! These will be hitting shops and mail-orders worldwide in October!
Insight: The Daily Grind – Hub Guards
What do you do when you break a part that is supposed to be designed to take abuse? Well, I know most of us will just be pissed, bitch, moan and swear off ever running the product again. But then there is a guy like Jon “Gremlin” Betchtold who decided that if he can’t find something he’s satisfied with, he will just make what he wants himself. After breaking what I could imagine plenty of parts because of how much of a beast he is, The Daily Grind was founded with the goal of producing products that are going to hold up to the heavy abuse that comes from riding street like riders really do it these days. One of the first products that The Daily Grind have offered was their hub guards but, recently, the crew decided to put a two year warranty on them to show just how much faith they have in them. Take a look at the video promo video they just dropped giving you a look at just what kind of abuse they put their guards through to make sure they are good enough for you, along with a look at some scraps for their new “Hard Times” DVD that is in the works. After you watch that, let’s take a closer look at just what make these guards special after the jump…
