Props – Issue 32: Brian Castillo Interview

June 28, 2013

Oh hell yeah! Here’s an awesome way to start your weekend. Props uploaded the interview with Volume and Demolition‘s Brian Castillo! The questions are hilarious, the responses are hilarious and the riding is damn good! Check this out!

“Kris Bennett, Nathan Wessel, Leland Thurman and Mike Escamilla interview an eccentric 23 year old Brian Castillo at Woodward Camp at the close of the Road Fools 4 trip. At the time of the interview, Volume Bikes was fresh on the scene in the industry – which created some drama when the first Volume bar was named the “Mad Dog Bar” named after the nickname of S&M’s founder Chris Moeller.” – Props

Through The Lens: Company Check – Volume and Demolition

May 8, 2013

TTL_64_opener_600x

When a BMX company has been around for fourteen years you have to figure that they are doing something right. That was my exact thought when planning the next company to feature for the column and that is why I chose Volume and Demolition. Also because Brian Castillo is a dedicated, hard-working person who constantly pushes BMX in a positive direction. He multi-tasks like no other and still finds time in his day to shred. He rides BMX simply because he loves it, and helped take a dream and make it a reality which is something most people will never do. It takes an incredible amount of drive to run multiple BMX companies for over a decade but he handles it with a small crew working alongside. I made my way down to the offices recently to hang out for the day, shoot some photos and talk to Castillo about what it takes to make it all happen.

Review: Demolition “Last Chance” + Giveaway

May 12, 2011

Photobucket

I got a copy of Demolition‘s “Last Chance” in the mail the other day. Let me tell you first off, I was excited because of all the positive comments and all of the photos and trailers and scrap clip edits from the guys on the team this past year and a half or so. However, that set my expectations a little higher than I usually would with a video. Take a look at what I thought, and then find out how you can EASILY win yourself a copy of the video…

On the Horizon: Volume/Demolition

December 12, 2009

Whenever I think of when I first remember seeing something from Volume or Demolition, I think of about 8 years ago or so when a guy was at the local trails on a Dinosaur frame. The guy was really good, and I was at that point where I was convinced riding a certain part or frame would be what made you good. I was only 12 or 13 at the time, but that’s okay.
A lot of things have changed since then. Frames no longer weigh more than me, I’ve accepted riding a certain part will never automatically give me tailwhips, and that if a brand is doing something right, they will continue to exist. With that being said, it was time we did a little catch up with Brian Castillo about the happenings over at Volume and Demolition these days.
