12 Days of Aitken – Day 3 & 4 – “F-It” and Square One “Up In Arms”

December 17, 2017

The 12 days of Mike Aitken continue! Brian Foster and Van Homan talk “F-It” and Chris Doyle and Kris Bennett talk “Up In Arms”… Both classic Aitken parts!

“Next up in our ‘Twelve days of Aitken’, which is a retrospective look at Mike Aitken’s BMX career as seen through the eyes of some of those who know him best via a selection of his hugely influential video parts, is Mikey’s section in FIT’s inaugural video “F-It.”

Mike kicked off 2001 with a new frame sponsor, which was a freshly-formed bike company that was spawned via S&M Bikes with fellow teammates and heavy hitters Brian Foster, Nate Hanson, Robbo, Justin Inman, and Edwin De La Rosa; him and the crew set FIT into full swing with the release of “F-It.” Mike blessed the video with a well-deserved closing section; one that helped put FIT on the map and set the bar for a soon-to-be legendary team in the coming years. BF and future teammate Van Homan provide some entertaining commentary on this point in time, where Mike was really coming into his own, and the Aitken evolution continued to gain momentum.

“Day 4 in our ‘Twelve days of Aitken’, which is a retrospective look at Mike Aitken’s BMX career as seen through the eyes of some of those who know him best via a selection of his hugely influential video parts, delves into Mike’s section in Square One’s first video “Up In Arms.”

Closing out 2001 with another extended stay in Erie, Pennsylvania and enjoying all the newer indoor parks in the area like Section 8 and Shebang, as well as the expanded Buck’s trails, Mike casually filmed his second part of the year. Kris Bennett commanded the video camera lens, who followed up “Empire East” with an unofficial sequel of sorts under the title “Up In Arms”, before Square One was an actual company. In the year span between “Empire East” and “Up In Arms”, you can see such rapid progress happening with Mike’s riding, where he really starts to elevate his signature style to new heights. Who can forget that massive wall ride to crash in the opening clip? Slayer’s “Angel Of Death” and Aitken- the perfect combo. Watch and listen to more commentary by Bennett and Doyle, who were fortunate enough to live this time period in person.

A Day with Brian Foster at Sayreville

May 13, 2017

Dustin Lee coming through with a fresh video for your viewing pleasure that you won’t want to miss. Dustin met up with the one and only Brian Foster at the Sayreville Skatepark for a little filming session for his new Merritt edit. This one is a little V-Loggy, so if you’re not into that, just skip to the 2:15 mark to catch the riding. There’s even a guest appearance from Jared Washington and it looked like Jimmy Levan was hanging out in the background, too! After the session with BF, Dustin meets up with Montana Ricky and a few others for a session and some food. Take a peek and get stoked for Brian’s new edi that’ll be out soon.

“I will be filming for Merritt BMX and first on the list of riders is none other than the Blue Falcon; Brian Foster. Check it out!”

When Brian Foster Shows Up To The Warehouse Session

January 6, 2017

The Brian Foster footage is from about 1:45 – 2:45 mark in the video. After that, Dustin catches an indoor session with Montana Ricky and a few others. Take a look!

A little while back we caught a sneak peek look at the 2017 Brian Foster signature complete from Fit Bike Co. and we’ve been patiently waiting for it to drop. The reason we were excited is because it’s a 22″ complete versus 20″ since it’s more comfortable for Brian and those riders who are looking for a slightly bigger bike for comfort. The 2017 22″ BF starts out with a frame with a chromoly front triangle with a 22.125″ top tube length, 74.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 12.25″ bottom bracket height, 9″ standover height and a 14.11″ chain stay length. You can find 2-piece bars with a chromoly crossbar, 8.7″ rise and 29″ width and a full chromoly fork with a 1-piece steerer tube, tapered legs and 33mm offset, 3/8″ dropouts. The rest of this bike is decked out with Fit, S&M Bikes and Revenge parts. One small piece we’re really digging is the quick release seat post clamp, haha. We don’t see that too often… Actually, ever when it comes to BMX bikes… Which is probably why it’s so rad to see it on this particular bike. Here’s what the rest of the bike has…

Stem: Top Load
Grips: Fit Long Tech with Flanges
Headset: Integrated
Cranks: Fit Indented – 175mm, 8-spline, chromoly
Sprocket: Fit Aluminum Key 25-tooth

Fit Bike Co. – Holla Wood

June 7, 2016

Fit Bike Co. coming through with a dialed ne BMX video featuring their whole crew getting down on spots around Hollywood. As expected with a heavy squad like this, there was plenty of amazing riding on all the spots they came across. Hit play and take it all in!

“It had been a minute since we had the PRO squad in one spot, so we decided to get the dudes together to shoot the shit and mob around LA for a few days in May.

Since this sort of thing doesn’t happen all the time, we enlisted Jeff Z. to shoot some stills and Scott Marceau to make moving pictures.

We weren’t trying to invite anybody to “Bangerville” with this one, but a few days in Hollyweird with the boys went down a treat. The takeaway from our pow wow was that we should pow wow more often, which means the FIT van may be showing up at spots near you soon – so keep ’em peeled.

Shout out to Mr. Marceau for capturing the crew!

Riders: Jordan Hango, Morgan Long, Brandon Begin, Matt Nordstrom, Ben Lewis, Shawn McIntosh, Brian Foster, Van Homan, Tom Dugan, Justin Spriet and Ethan Corriere.

Filmed/Edited by: Scott Marceau

Music: “Morgan” by the Cloud Nothings”

Fit Bike Co. To Release Brian Foster Signature 22″ Complete

April 19, 2016

brian-foster-fit-bike-co-22-inch-bmx-bike

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a few 22″ BMX bikes popping up with Faction BMX and S&M Bikes both putting a lot of work into that in-between niche market between 20″ and 24″. Today, we spotted something interesting for you 22″ fans out there. The Blue Falcon, Brian Foster, will have a signature 22″ complete from Fit Bike Co. in their 2017 complete bike range! We don’t have much detail on this yet, but it’s definitely happening. Below are a few words about the bike from Brian and how he’s feeling about the 22″ size. We’re going to chase up Chris Moeller and see if we can dig up a little more info on this bike.

“This winter a 22″ @sandmbmx ATF showed up at my door. @moeller_chris wanted me to check it out. After a few sessions with it here and there, here are my thoughts. I definitely see the appeal. It rides better at speed and is more stable when landing flat. This stability comes at a cost as it is not as nimble as a 20″. I think a 22″ makes sense for trails and large transitions. This fall, a 22″ @fitbikeco complete will be released and should raise the stoke for the generation of shredders that want to stay connected with riding. I will spend most of my time on my normal bike but this larger option will buy me a few more years of roasting in the future. Here’s a screen grab from today on the big bike.” – Brian Foster

The Best iPhone Edit Ever

March 14, 2016

Montana Ricky realized he was sitting on a ton of clips from sessions with guys like Tony Hamlin, Bruce Crisman, Brad Simms, Jesse Whaley, Brian Foster and a handful of others that needed a home. So, he pulled the clips off his phone and dropped them into a timeline for a solid video with some dialed riding clips and plenty of hilarious extras. Is this the Best iPhone Edit Ever? Well… It’s worth a watch.
