Ryan Sher – Long Story Short

DIG released their latest “Long Story Short” featuring Ryan Sher who talks about how he got into BMX, bouncing around, riding for Kink and then becoming brand manager of Subrosa and his roles. Take a peek!

“Since around the turn of the millennium Ryan Sher was a regular and welcome fixture of seemingly all BMX media coverage. Wether it was from early Kink Trips, Props Megatours, various magazine covers (everyones remembers his Ride US coverage of the curved wall-ride right?) or endless shots on our own pages of DIG dating back to his first UK visits at the old Bike Shows and Backyard Jams, and leading onto his first Euro trips with his then new company, Subrosa. Then, after 10 years of so it felt like the coverage just stopped almost overnight as Ryan took a major step back from being a Pro rider to concentrate as his new found BMX industry duties.

For episode 2 of our DIG ‘Long Story Short’ Series we caught up with Ryan to learn a little more about his early history within BMX, the story behind ‘that’ wall-ride and why he made the switch from full-time rider to full time brand manager. Enjoy.

Ruben Alcantara and the Story of Malaga Skatepark

DIG just released this great video featuring Ruben Alcantara telling the story of how the Malaga Skatepark all came about and some of the challenges that almost kept the park from ever happening! There’s also a TON of riding footage from Ruben which is always a good thing! Take a look!

“Ruben Alcantara has always been one to question what is possible, and to push any boundaries that could limit his vision. After decades of this personal journey repeating itself in his riding, it would only make sense that Ruben go through the exact same process with anything he is involved with. What you are about to watch is a tale of the new skatepark in his hometown of Malaga, Spain. It really is a labor of Ruben’s personal love for both riding, and what the future holds for upcoming generations. My goal with this was to tell the story of what emerged as a result of Ruben’s hard work and dedication. Followed up by pure visual delight of watching him enjoy the fruits of his efforts. If there is one thing I love, is watching people ride as they would on any day, despite if anyone was looking or not. That purity never gets old to me . . . Ruben Alcantara has always, and will always be a visionary. The main thing that sets Ruben apart, is that he’s made these visions blossom into realities time and time again. And the world is a better place because of it.

Nick Castillo Versus the Santa Barbara Curved Wallride

Check out this video of Nick Castillo talking about a wild wall ride that he had a battle with a while back in Santa Barbara. This video gives you a lot of looks at what it took to make this clip happen plus some perspective from Nick on how it went down.

““Consider this the second ‘teaser’ of sorts for the Back Bone video. Filming for three years leaves you with a lot of left over footage, so it makes sense to release some of it! The majority of this video is unused clips. We were able to use a song from our friends I Exist, who hail from Canberra, our hometown. “We Are Substance”
