Pool’s Gold – Part 1

August 13, 2015

Here’s one that might just go over the young guns head as to just how amazing this video really is… DIG just released this amazing video from a trip to California that Van Homan and Garrett Byrnes (Yes, Garrett fricken’ Byrnes!) took to meet up with Jason Enns to spend a week riding pools. This BMX video will probably make you older guys feel OLD because these are the guys we grew up watching and now they’re the “old guys” just having a good time. This has cameos from Mike Escamilla, Corey Bohan, Ryan “Biz” Jordan and Rob Dolecki which makes it even better. Talk about a bunch of legends… Oh, and Stew Johnson filmed the damn thing! Stacked, stacked, stacked… Why haven’t you hit play yet! So stoked this is only part one!

“Van Homan (FIT/Dans Comp), Jason Enns (Volume/Demolition) and Garrett Byrnes (T1), together on a Southern California adventure consisting of hopping fences and surfing some concrete waves? What is this, 2002?

Nope, this actually happened a few months ago, though this was the first time all three have been on a trip together since the Criminal Mischief filming-era over a decade ago. And it was on the opposite end of the spectrum as what would normally be defined as a “filming trip.” It was more so essentially a week-long riding vacation (literally for Garrett), and these legends reminisced about old memories, and made some new memories to last a lifetime. Stew Johnson captured this experience for your viewing pleasure; hope you enjoy. Garrett’s MVP award is on the way… ”

DNV ABQ – Eat The Streets 2015 – Albuqueque

August 11, 2015

Last weekend was the 2nd ABQ DNV “Eat the Streets” jam of the year. This time around they hit the streets of Albuquerque, New Mexico for a day PACKED with spots, riders and amazing riding! Hit play on this BMX video to see everything that went down throughout the day from BMX and skateboarding!

“The second stop of ABQ DNV’s Eat The Streets 2015 jam series went down in Albuquerque, New Mexico. With the success of the recent ETS Denver Jam we were excited to see what New Mexico would have in store. The level of riding exceeded our expectations, and even more important that was seeing that all involved had an amazing afternoon on their bikes!

“Albuquerque Eat The Streets has come and gone with so many great memories made with old friends and new ones. We knew this stop in Albuquerque was going to be a serious one just based off our large following in ABQ as well as all our past events here. We have been doing events in ABQ for over a decade and have been pushing our local scene in all ways possible.

One of the most amazing things about this stop was the younger following that came to watch and participate in Eat The Streets. To see these kids out riding bikes and being beyond excited to watch and see whats moves the guys would do on all the different setups was amazing! This is why we do what we do, we throw these jams to showcase how fun BMX is for all ages and that everyone can participate with all levels of riding. For our love of BMX brings us together.

The level of riding on this ETS was a bit gnarly but ABQ never disappoints. The sessions at all the spots had tons of people but it turned into a heavy sessions with a few of our ABQDNV boys with the crowds going off for them. Hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we did making it. Thank you for all your support and following us in what we do, If it was not for the BMX community we would not be able to put on these events. Thank you all and heres to the next one!” – Mario Carrasco / ABQ DNV

In The Cut: Nick Castillo and David Grant

July 30, 2015

Can’t go wrong with some Nick Castillo and David Grant footage! Check out some raw iPhone action from California and Indiana spots in this BMX video! Both of these guys stacked some real solid clips and a few real gnarly ones as well. We kind of want to see Nick pull that curved wall ride to wall, but based off what we saw, that looked like it hurt, haha.

“Our DIG ‘In The Cut’ video series continues today with some raw clips from Santa Barbara’s resident jujitsu warrior Nick Castillo and BSD’s hubba fiend David Grant shot (all on iPhone) while David was out from Indiana on one of his frequent visits. There’s even a couple nugs from Cody Bowers in the there too. BMX for life breech!” – DIG BMX

Chase Hawk – Long Story Short

July 28, 2015

DIG caught up with the one and only Chase Hawk to talk about the start of his career going on the Fit Puerto Rico trip with a bunch of legends and getting his ass kicked around by them since he was the new guy on up to today where he’s working on his Etnies “Chapters” part and more! Definitely a rad watch, so get on that play button and take it all in!

“To kick off our new Long Story Short original series we have one of the best to do it: Chase Hawk. Maybe BMX’s finest example of the idealized rider, we’ve been glued to whatever Chase has put out since he come into the spotlight years ago as a teen.

We sat Chase down a while ago and asked him about the transition he’s seen in his life over the last decade both on and off a bike. Certainly much has changed from an outsider’s perspective. Here we present the passage of time from Chase’s view.”

Tyler Fernengel – Eyeshot

July 22, 2015

Remember that crazy sculpture that Tyler Fernengel dropped in on back in 2011 for his cover of Issue 96 of DIG? Of course you do, because it was absolutely nuts. Today, DIG released a video giving us a little behind the scenes look at what it took to get the photo! It looks scary just sliding down it, we can’t imagine what it was like to ride down it!

“We’re psyched to introduce our new video series, ‘Eyeshot’ which takes a closer look, with the help of unseen raw clips, at some our favourite photos that have featured in the previous 21 years of DIG Magazine. To kick things off we go back two years to Haro and Demolition’s then up and coming rider Tyler Fernengel and the crazy drop-in he took on in Detroit which ended up on the cover of DIG 96 ‘Youth Of Today’ Issue. Scary is an understatement…
