The Waffle Jam 2019

It seems like there’s always something rad going on down in South Africa. Here’s highlights from The Waffle Jam that went down in Cape Town recently. They took an old abandoned pool, brought in some ramps, poured some cement transitions, dropped a trampoline, grill and DJ in there and things went off. Hit play to see everything that went down!

“The Waffle Jam is annual BMX jam hosted by Vans South Africa in the Mother City of Cape Town. This years Jam gave collaboration a whole new meaning with a large amount of DIY. The project was lead by Vans team rider Brandon Blight, who saw potential in a newly repurposed high school swimming pool as the venue for this years event. The pool has been empty for many years and has lost its structural integrity, deeming it unsafe for use as a swimming pool. In recent years, local skate legend Dallas Oberholzer had come to an agreement with Cape Town High School to allow for DIY concrete trannies to but built inside the school, with the end goal of a unique skatepark in mind. The pool is not yet open to the public, aside from one skate event. Brandon and Dallas put their heads together and began to plan what the BMX riders of Cape Town could contribute to this new park. With only a few weeks away from Cape Towns winter settling in, the planning and building began. More trannies were added in the shallow side of the pool for flow, with the intention of leaving deep end un-modified, as many could agree, it was gnarly enough as it stood. Many riders and homies came through with different skill sets to prepare the pool, ramps, school grounds and cater for the event. Luck was on our side and Cape Town showed us her finest colours, resulting in a warm, windless day for the jam. Huge shout out to everyone who came thru for that entire week leading up to the jam and picked up a drill, spade or butter knife. See you all at Waffle Jam 3!” – Kevin Schnider

It’s always a good day when Matt Coplon‘s name pops up with a new video! It was Matt’s 42nd birthday the other day, and that meant it was time or his annual edit to drop! Wethepeople X Eclat – Robin Bourhis 2019 Video

Wethepeople and Eclat‘s connect over in France, Robin Bourhis, coming through with a dialed new edit packed with grinds, nose balance, whips and much, much more. Between studying civil engineering at university and a busy videographer’s schedule it took three years in total to come together. Thanks to the handy Interrail deal the guys managed to take in the sights of Rome, Trieste, Budapest, Ljubliana, Amsterdam, Paris and Athens. Robin certainly made the most of all the new territory, bagging himself some wild clips along the way.

Miki Fleck Da Silva In California

It looks like Miki Fleck made his dream of taking a trip to California a reality. During his stay, Miki went to work charging every rail and sending it off every roof he could get up on. Hit play to check out a ton of dialed clips he stacked during his time in the sun!

“” remember back to my first visit to Spain, spending my days in the streets of Barcelona. I began to learn the people and their ways, I found myself at home with complete strangers… as time went on I got to know Miki more and more. He was a young kid with ambition and a genuine love for BMX. He told me that it was his dream to make it to the USA to ride and see a new piece of the world. So less than a year after meeting Miki he had picked up two sponsors and he was booked for LA in March! I wanted to show him a great time and I wanted for him to have access to a filmer so he could reveal his California experience in a proper video. Long story short, I ended up filming the majority of this video in only 9 days of actual filming and bike riding.
