Etnies – We Have The Spots

November 21, 2016

The Etnies team riders are no strangers to Malaga, Spain with their frequent visits to ride Ruben Alcantara‘s skatepark, the never ending spots and soak up the sunshine. Some of the Etnies international team decided to take a trip that way to spend some time seeing what they could stack for clips. Needless to say, they ended up with another dialed BMX video for your viewing pleasure. Check it!

“Going to Malaga to film a video? Well, Ruben takes us through the essentials before etnies teammates Sebastian Anton, Jordan O’Kane and Harry Mills Wakley take on the task many have previously undertook. These three young’uns came through in a big way for this one – not your average Malaga edit!

Matt Priest – The Dog Days

November 18, 2016

It’s always a good day when some new Matt Priest footage surfaces online! Here’s a fresh batch of clips of him absolutely slaying the Woodyard with his signature style that you can’t help but love. Get on that play button because you won’t be disappointed with this one!

“On the 15th May 2015, Matt Priest endured a bad crash which resulted in shattering his talus bone (ankle) into 12 pieces. After a tough year off the bike, and being repeatedly being told by doctors the chances of riding again were completely against him it really wan’t looking good. That was until he got lucky and was informed that due to his resilience to a very tough situation, that he could ’try’ to start riding and building his leg back up to full strength. It wasn’t long before Matt proved he wasn’t going to let it slow him down, and starting tentatively rolling in Malaga back in February and has been back killing it since at his local UK trail spot, Woodyard. This video documents much of that journey and how good it feels to be back on that bike again.

Blind Trip – Kevin Kalkoff & Thomas Benedetti In Croatia

November 16, 2016

This is a pretty cool concept. DIG and Soul teamed up for a unique trip they sent Kevin Kalkoff and Thomas Benedetti on. Neither ride knew where they were going, but found out they were on the way to Croatia once they got to the airport. Here’s a video giving you a look at what both of these guys stacked for clips during their visit! Although they had no time to plan and possibly scope out some spots early, they didn’t appear to have any trouble coming across spots!

“We’re always proud to support likeminded BMX media people out there so we’re more than happy to announce long time Gallic print bothers Soul as our official DIG media partner for France. Check out our first collaborative release with them below and be sure to go and check out their all new online direction at http://soulbmxmag.com

There’ll be lots of DIG X SOUL projects to come but meantime check out what their editor Ben Bello had to say about the first ever Soul Blind Trip in conjunction with Monster Energy.

“It’s one of those idea that makes you smile when you come up with it, but also one of those idea that complicates your life because you will never give up on making it a reality. The idea was simple and challenging: take a rider on a trip to a city never knowingly visited by Pro riders, and announce the destination when we bring the rider to the airport; just for the pleasure of seeing his face when he learns the news. We chose France’s Kevin Kalkoff (Vans) for this first episode, told him he was going on trip, and gave him nothing more than the date. To add some brotherhood we also invited his brother Thomas Benedetti (Haro/eclat)to surprise him by joining the tour. Both discovered their destination to be SPLIT, in Croatia, a beautiful city on the Adriatic coast with many spots in the surroundings.” – Ben Bello / http://soulbmxmag.com/

November 15, 2016

Yesterday BSD released their new “Thunder Down Under” video from the time Kriss Kyle, Alex Donnachie, David Grant and Liam Zingbergs spent exploring Adelaide. “Sometimes in life you get lucky, but on this occasion when BSD’s Kriss Kyle, Alex Donnachie, and David Grant visited teammate Liam Zingbergs in his hometown of Adelaide, Australia they just got a shit load of rain. We were along for the rainiest week and apart from a few short spells of riding we visited a crack den ghetto spot, went on a mini safari, and watched the Leezy show.” – DIG

Inspired By BMX – Tom Hooper: Tattoo Artist

November 11, 2016

Sometimes BMX can kind of cause you to pigeonhole your goals and it can sometimes make you forget there are a TON of different jobs that you can do where you can take your influence from BMX and apply it to that job. We have seen a lot of talented riders over the years take their passion and move into a different direction that allows them to do something they’re really into and still catch plenty of sessions on their bike. DIG have kicked off a new series that explores a few different people who have created their own career that still has influence from BMX. Take a peek at how Tom Hooper does his thing as a tattoo artist.

“Welcome to episode 1 of DIG Alumni ‘Inspired by BMX’. This series looks at four creatives whose lives were shaped by being involved at varying levels within the BMX community. BMX not only inspired them artistically, it provided them with a worldview that encouraged risk, made them open to opportunity, and gave them the tools to come up with creative solutions to the problems life threw at them. These episodes are proof that picking up that bike can not only change the direction of your life, but also have an impact well beyond the confines of the BMX world.

Thomas Hooper emerged from the South East England trail scene. He first came to attention riding to a Snuff song in the Seventies/Backyard video “The Last Resort,” had a stint riding for Hoffman Bikes, our DIG editor’s old clothing company HLP, and was part of the Metal Bikes family. For Tom, BMX, hardcore punk, and tattooing went hand in hand. Eventually, spending all his free time at a tattoo shop while in college for photography led to a deeper interest in tattooing and the realization of a special gift. Thomas is now one of the world’s most sought after and unique tattoo artists, best known for his technical style rooted in geometric shapes and nature.” – DIG

“Another day, another section from the excellent Nearly 4K DVD, and this time it’s powerball James Chalmers. Despite already having strong beard genes, it seems that James also got a hefty dose of 360 skill in with those X and Y chromosomes. Serious Scottish shredding.

“Nearly’s Geordie connection Jamieson Carne is always hilarious to hang out with and for some reason his personality really comes out in his riding. Hangers, bean outs – ya man’s got it. He may be stuck on a Navy boat for the foreseable future, but hopefully we’ll be seeing way more from this guy soon. For now, enjoy his section from the Nearly 4K DVD.” – DIG
