Eclat X DIG – Harry Mills-Wakley
You know you’re in for something good when Harry Mills-Wakley and his dreads come through with a new BMX video! Here’s his latest video for Eclat filled with dialed riding he’s been putting in work for, for the past half year or so. Definitely some amazing riding to see in this!
“Eclat’s Harry Mills-Wakley has been filming for this one since July 2015 and what was originally meant to be a few clips then turned into a 6 month belter, including a trip to Barcelona halfway through. Harry is well known for his mix of smooth peggery and predator skills and this has got all that and more.

Sneak Peek: Eclat – Bruno Hoffmann Signature Predator Tire
If you caught the Shane Weston Bike Check that the crew over at Eclat dropped yesterday, you might have caught a look at the new BMX tire they’re working on. The new Bruno Hoffmann signature Predator tire is in the works and should be available in a few months — Our guess is around March. What we can tell you is that the tire features a lower profile design with knurling and deeper grooves all around for increased grip without a bumpy ride or too much rolling resistance. The sidewalls are smooth to help prevent drag from grinding. Not sure on all the sizes or colors, but Eclat did mention that Bruno and Shane have been running the 2.30″ size which gives them a little more room to work with while grinding. Could we see it in a 2.40″ version as well? Yeah, but that isn’t confirmed. Expect more details closer to the release.
Shane Weston Bike Check
Eclat caught up with Shane Weston and his crazy hair to take a closer look at his current setup that he’s running! Although he’s no longer on Fly Bikes, he’s running his old signature frame and all Eclat parts, including samples of the Bruno Hoffmann signature Predator tires that are in the works. You can check out the full Bike Check filled with photos and a full parts list right here — Shane Weston Bike Check!
Devon Smillie On Eclat
With today being the first day of 2016, we’re being treated to more sponsor news! It looks like Devon Smillie has joined the Eclat Pro team! Devon is working on a welcome to the team video that’s bound to be an absolute banger. So we’ll keep you posted when that drops! Check out the official word below!
“Devon Smillie has consistently been one of the most amazing riders in the game for quite a while, so when we talked about the idea of him joining our team it just seemed like the right thing to do.
The addition of Smillie instantly adds even more firepower to Éclat and it’s safe to say that it’s only a matter of time now before we witness Devon’s welcome to PRO edit that he is mid way through filming with Francis Castro. 2016 is now upon us and we are ready to kick it off with another amazing addition to the team. Happy New Year All.”

The Most Expensive Complete BMX Bike For 2016?
Have you ever had a random question pop up in your head right when you’re trying to go to bed, and you end up thinking about it so much that you end up pulling out your phone and doing some research online? Last night, not sure why, but the question “I wonder what the most expensive complete BMX bike is for 2016?” came to mind and it stuck to me. We had a pretty decent idea of a few of the higher end bikes, but were still curious to know. So, after a couple searches on a few different retailers and it was pretty easy to figure out just what bike holds the highest price tag for this year.
Traditionally, complete BMX bikes are thought of as inexpensive bikes that are designed for the entry to mid-level rider that isn’t quite ready to go all in on a custom after market build that pretty much every experienced rider owns. Over the course of the past few years, with the progression of the quality of complete bikes, we’ve seen some really dialed higher end bikes pop up on pretty much every company’s list of options for bikes they offer.
Although BMX bikes don’t cost anywhere near what some high end road and mountain bikes cost (You could buy about 13 of the most expensive BMX bikes for the price of one of the high end road bikes that are available — and that’s not even top of the line), it’s still a pretty interesting number.
What did we find out? Well, although it was some what close with a few other bikes (Not including race bikes, which have a few options more expensive than the freestyle bikes), the 2016 Wethepeople Envy beats out the Dennis Enarson signature Haro SD V2, Chad Kerley signature Premium CK and Sunday Bikes Gary Young signature Soundwave complete by about $100. The Envy comes in at $1,099.99 and it comes fully loaded. The next question that came to mind, if we parted out the most expensive bike since it’s mostly after market parts from Wethepeople and Eclat, what would the total cost be? Let’s find out…
We also decided to find out what the most expensive custom built bike would be. Check that out here: The Most Expensive Custom BMX Bike?
Chester Blacksmith Off Eclat
It’s that time of the year when we start seeing some shake ups with BMX teams all around the world. Yesterday, we caught wind that Chase Hawk and Odyssey parted ways, now today we get the word that Chester Blacksmith has stepped down from the Eclat Pro team. Now, this one might not be as shocking as the Chase Hawk news since Chester has been pretty low key over the last year or two, but it’s still pretty wild news since Chester has been on Eclat since day one. Get the full scoop below!
“Today we are officially announcing the step down of Chester Blacksmith from the Éclat PRO team. Chester has been occupied with other things in his life for some time now and his path has taken him from PRO bike rider to expert motorcyclist and full time worker. These things happen in life and it’s no secret that a human being like Chester can only break so many bones for so long.
Chester first joined the Éclat team as part of its conception and has been a rock of stability throughout its existence and we can not thank him enough for the blood spilled and miles travelled on behalf of our brand. Chester has not given up bike riding, so if you swing by Portland be sure to check in on him. Chester remains part of our family forever and a true OG of Eclat.
You can check out more photos spanning his time with the team on the Eclat website.
