“No pegs? Brakes and a straight cable? Zero toothpick hangovers? What in the world is this, a Stew Johnson video? No. It’s Chris Crouch, a BMX-employed mechanic/manager at Barachel Bike and Skate in Winter Garden, Fla. Here, Chris discusses his role at Barachel and sessions the Barachel park as well as the Vans Orlando park. Video by Brett Rohlfing.” – ESPN
Mike Tag Benefit Jam Edit
“FBM Bike Co. legend and street riding innovator Mike Tag was diagnosed with Stage ll Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in mid-April, and the BMX community quickly rallied behind him to help beat cancer, including the Portland, Ore. scene. In late May, the greater PDX scene scheduled a jam at the Hillsboro Skatepark, with all proceeds from the benefit going to help raise money for Tag’s medical bills. Jared Souney was also on hand taking photos throughout the day, which you can check out here. FBM is also still working to raise funds for Mike Tag’s medical bills, and donations are being accepted here.” – ESPN

Dakota Roche Bike Check
Shawn McIntosh Video Bike Check
“It’s Saturday and that means bike check time. But this week, we’re trying something a little different. With the help of So Cal’s Tommy Blanco, we’re bringing the bike check to video, and the first candidate is Fit Bike Co. pro team member Shawn Mcintosh. On a recent trip to So Cal, Shawn ran through his setup, hops a fence and makes a rickety rail rideable. Video by Tommy Blanco.” – ESPN
ESPN – Tucson, Arizon Scene
“Tucson, Ariz., according to Cult Supplier and G-Sport flow team rider Andy “Floyd” Erickson, gets a bad rap as far as locations go. And Mike Hines of Clicked BMX agrees. “It’s the red-headed stepchild of Phoenix, but there’s plenty of kids out there shredding with good attitudes, having a good time riding bikes, and to me, that’s what BMX is all about” says Mike.
Because we like to promote that aspect of BMX, and because Floyd is an honorary resident of Jersey City whenever he visits, Floyd was kind enough to put together the above 2011 scene report from his home in Tucson. The spots are sick, the riding is great and the Tucson scene is definitely on the rise. Video by Andy “Floyd” Erickson.” – ESPN
Odyssey’s Texas Toast Jam – The Complete Video
To be honest, this was the video I was waiting on. In some of the other photos and videos I spotted Stewart Johnson with a camera. I knew he was going to be doing something with the footage and it turns out it was for ESPN. This covers the whole event real well. There’s also good news… Taj mentions it will be happening again next year!
“This past weekend, Taj Mihelich, Odyssey BMX and the great city of Austin, Texas injected the fun back into the BMX contest scene with the Texas Toast Jam. All weekend long, Sandy Carson was on the ground shooting photos for us, but we didn’t stop there. Stew Johnson was also on hand for Texas Toast, and the above is the resulting video, covering every aspect of the event, from Beringer’s peg drags to a boat captain being randomly taken out on the course by a flying bike. Video by Stew Johnson.” – ESPN
My Spots: Chad Phaire and the Lenox Ledge
“Cult Connect rider Chad Phaire, a native of Harlem, N.Y., starts most days at an infamous ledge spot not far from home known as the Lenox Ledges. In the above video, Chad describes the scene, rides the ledges and throws down some good manual lines before moving on with his day. Video by Matt Brown.” – ESPN
