Industry: Brian Tunney

April 11, 2011

Brian’s section from the “Same Thing Daily 2” video that came out a year ago. You can check out the rest by picking up a copy at SameThingDaily.Blogspot.com.

Brian Tunney is one of those guys who I think is a real good model to follow when it comes to working in the media side of the industry. Brian has had all sorts of jobs from being a pro rider, contributor to magazines, judging contests, and even some time as a team manager. These days he’s full-timing it at ESPN handling their action sports content. I figured it would be cool to find out a little bit more about his line of work and get a little background on how he got to where he is today. As you can see above, Brian decided to drop his latest part from the dvd “Same Thing Daily 2” to go along with this, so don’t forget to check out the rest of that video. All right, here’s what Brian has to say…

Team Jeff DuPaul – X Wheels Session

April 7, 2011

Last month Jeff DuPaul, Denny Pascasio, Chris Childs, Dylan Stark and James Lukas had a bit of trouble getting through customs into Canada for the Toronto BMX Jam. They were told to come back to the boarder the next day (midnight), so with a bunch of time to kill they decided to hit X Wheels for a pre-Toronto party session. This is what went down. They made it into Canada the next go and good times were had…. Well, well if you consider 11 dudes including myself in the hotel room a good time.

ESPN – Stevie Churchill Flat Session

April 3, 2011

Stevie Churchill is a mind blowing machine. He can do more way hard tricks on flat ground (regular and switch) better than most of us can do off a box or quarter. This is one you don’t want to miss.

“Before the arrival of Volume’s latest New England street prodigy Steve Churchill, flatground street riding wasn’t really a huge topic in the world of street riding. Yes, people have been throwing random whips and barspins into lines for years now, but Steve’s approach is different. He can do anything, from regular and switch whips to legit truckdrivers on flatground, and make them look pretty decent too. Recently, while Steve was taking a break from the New England winter, he filmed some flatground action in Long Beach, Calif. and Charlie Crumlish was down to film and edit it. Introducing Big Steve Churchill, who I refuse to call him “Lil Stevie” since he’s built like a football player.” – Brian Tunney / ESPN

Zack Warden Bike Check

April 2, 2011

Hoffman‘s Zack Warden has a bike check up on ESPN.

ESPN – Day in the Life: Miles Rogoish

April 1, 2011

ESPN – Jimmy Levan – Head Trauma

April 1, 2011

Jimmy Levan has an interview over on ESPN where he talks about all the struggles he has had from head injuries in the past. Needless to say, Jimmy is one hell of a badass. Anyone who has died and come back to life more than once is an ultimate beast and an endless supply of respect goes his way for continuing to ride. Get over to ESPN and check out this interview and wear a helmet, you won’t regret it.

Lino Gonzalez – BMX Artifacts – Part 2

March 29, 2011

“Years ago, I can vividly remember riding flatland alongside a younger Lino Gonzalez at an Impact contest in East Providence, R.I. Close to 15 years later, Lino has matured into one of New England’s most respected street riders, but has has not forgotten his roots as an amateur flatlander in the New England scene. In part two of BMX Artifacts, Lino Gonzalez reveals his relationship with previous sponsor Torker, then divulges some insider information on the Impact scene, as well as his first video, “Ember.” Video by Joe Cookie.” – ESPN
