Sem Kok For Flybikes

When it comes to BMX there are only a handful of riders that fully commit and find a way to travel non-stop and crush it on absolutely everything they come across. Sem Kok‘s name has been popping up more and more the past year or two, and it’s pretty amazing to see him crushing it all over from the Vans BMX Pro Cup to the random clips he’s posting on Instagram from his trips all over the place. Here’s a fresh video for Flybikes giving us a look at what he’s been getting into from parks to street spots and trails during his trips all over as of late. Sneak Peek: Inside The Flybikes Magneto Cassette Hub

Get a look inside the Magneto Cassette Hub from Flybikes!

** Updated August 9th with more details on the release date and another look inside the hub! **

Here’s one we’ve been anxiously waiting to get a look at! Flybikes have FINALLY released a look inside their long awaited, highly anticipated Magneto Cassette Hub that has been in the works for a little over a decade. The internals are surprisingly pretty simple, but there was A LOT that went into getting everything just right. The team has been testing different versions since rumors about it first started swirling around 2008 / 2009ish and they’ve tested out a bunch of different manufacturers in the process. It looks like they’ve finally got it all dialed in and found the perfect manufacturer in Europe to make it a reality. Essentially the hub utilizes two magnets, one on the driver and one on the ratchet, that push the ratchet ring into place with magnetic force when you pedal. There are fewer parts, simplifying things and making for one clean looking hub. The exact release date ~~hasn’t been announced~~ is set for October. “The Magneto Cassette hub features a magnetic system engage using the force of two magnets that allows the ratchet ring to engage. The magnetic field provides an even repelling force which makes the ratchet work completely straight and are created in a way that reduces friction compared to the use of springs. The Neomidium magnets we use maintain the magnetic field pretty much forever as well. These properties create the fastest, most reliable and durable system possible. Not to mention, a pretty unique and powerful noise that everybody loves…
The simplicity of the system is also great for customization. With ONLY ONE moving part, the assembly is as easy as it can get and reduces the overall weight significantly.
We are using heat treated CrMo caps instead of aluminum to be stiff and avoid wobble that can form over time and they are CNC machined outside and inside to achieve almost the same weight as aluminum. The shell is made of a much stronger 7075 Aluminum and features the sunken spoke holes that we created with our Classic Front Hub. The driver, end caps and bolts use an anti-rust process that also gives the hub an awesome titanium color finish.

Flybikes – Sem Kok Welcome To The Pro Team

Flybikes have given Sem Kok the bump on up to their Pro team! We’ve been seeing Sem’s name pop up more and more over the last two or so years, and it’s easy to see why Flybikes gave him the bump up. Sem brings a ton of speed and style to everything he rides. Here’s his welcome video where he tells his story to give you a better idea of just where he came from!

“When it comes to the Flybikes Pro team, we are very selective of just who we add and it’s not something we just offer to any rider that is the flavor of the week. We take a family approach to every rider we pick. Over the past two years that Sem Kok has rode for Flybikes through Rock N Roll Distribution, he has put in some serious work and miles in that time, bringing his speed and style to everything he touches from transitions to trails and street spots during laid back sessions to contests like the Vans BMX Pro Cup. We’ve watched Sem continue to push his limits and represent everything we are about here at Flybikes. We’re very excited to announce that we have added him to our Pro team, and that means he’ll be able to take his talent even further. Sneak Peek: Flybikes – Manual CNC Brakes

The other day we got a look at the new Manual CNC Brake lever from Flybikes, now we get a look at the new Manual CNC Brakes that will be dropping with the lever. Based off their original CNC machined brakes, Flybikes have made a few changes to improve on the originals to make them fit modern tire sizes and stronger, but they have also made them compatible with the traditional spring style and their Springhanger system that moves the springs from the arms to the cable bridge to simplify things. This is pretty cool since the two different systems didn’t work together before, but now you could technically switch between both styles if you would like. These will be dropping at the end of May, but you can get more details below, along with a drawing that’ll better show how both systems work.

“There is no better time than our 20th anniversary to bring back our very popular CNC brake back to life, now packed some new improvements. The refined and updated brake has a throwback look like our classic CNC version but now with the Springhanger technology option, too. Yes, one brake that works with two different bridge cable systems; the Classic system and the Springhanger brake system. The arms are built to be stiffer and to accept up to 2.50” tires giving you plenty of clearance. The Classic version also comes with thicker brass bushings for longer life and features the AKO “Allen Key Only” spring plates and adjustable A-hanger. The Springhanger option comes with an upgraded spring with a flat shape on the straight part for a stiffer performance and an anti-wobble adjustment that eliminates brake-wobble. We are so hyped to have come out with the smoothest, most responsive and best performing Flybikes brake to date.

Sneak Peek: Flybikes – Manual CNC Brake Lever

Here’s a little sneak peek that Flybikes have released for all the brake lovers out there. For their 20th anniversary, they are bringing back a new and improved version of their popular CNC brake lever. The new Manual CNC brake lever is based around the original, with a few tweaks to give it a cleaner look and an upgrade to IGUS bushings to completely eliminate wobble. It looks like the lever will be available this summer and come in two colors; Flat Black and Fog Titanium.

Better yet, there’s also a new CNC brake that will be dropping at the same time. More details on that coming soon. Until then, get a little more info below and a look at the Fog Titanium color and a drawing with details.

COURAGE ADAMS & SEM KOK – SAMCITY X FLYBIKES RELEASE JAM

Over the weekend Rock N Roll Distribution teamed up with Samcity Skatepark to do a launch party for the 2019 Flybikes line! Courage Adams and Sem Kok came out for the session and good times. Here’s a highlight video filled with riding that went down between Courage, Sem and a ton of locals that turned out! This is what a good time looks like!

Flybikes – Welcome Back, Pitu! + Video Bike Check

Pitu is back on Flybikes!

As some of you have heard by now, Flybikes have been celebrating their 20th anniversary and they have been making some real interesting moves. Last week it was announced Kevin Porter was back on Flybikes, then they announced that the Magneto cassette hub was coming, now it looks like Pitu is back on the team!
