Wethepeople – Sebastian Dreher

February 8, 2022

Wethepeople‘s flow rider over in Germany, Sebastian Dreher, coming through with a new one for your viewing pleasure. Going into this one, we hadn’t heard of Sebastian before, but it’s easy to see why Wethepeople are hooking him up! Watch as he puts the pegs to heavy use, along with a bunch of other tricks on a ton of spots while out cruising street spots. It’s safe to say we’ll be seeing more of Sebastian in the future.

“Sebastian Dreher is currently still on flow at Wethepeople BMX, but with his new video he definitely commends himself for a promotion!

By the way, Sebastian has recently been living in Cologne, so it’s possible that you’ll soon bump into him on our Instagram profile (@freedombmx_mag). In the meantime, we recommend that you follow the young man directly (@sebydre), as technical tidbits are regularly served up on his profile. Tastes!

ABD / CBD In France

February 7, 2022

Here’s a new one Freedom BMX dropped online from a trip the SIBMX team took to France a little while back! Toward the end of the trip, the camera get got jacked, but despite that, they still had a bunch of great footage from phones and a few other cameras. Check out what these guys got into from the street spots, ditches, skateparks and more they rode during the trip. It looks like it was a real good time to us!

“Before the SIBMX team went on a motorhome trip last year, the itinerary was discussed at length. In addition to good weather and many spots, one criterion was the safety of the top-quality Carado vehicles and the equipment in them. In Milan, for example, wakeboarders who were friends had just been robbed and lost the recordings they had collected, and there were also many a horror story about southern France. We wanted to avoid such a scenario at all costs.

The fact that the footage of this trip was ultimately not stolen somewhere abroad a few weeks later, but less than 50 kilometers from the medalist’s front door, is an irony of history or a variety of self-fulfilling prophecies – depending on how you take it.

But fortunately Merlin Czarnulla was also part of the party, who had photographed the best maneuvers, so that at least in this form the rest of humanity could participate in the boys’ escapades. You can see the result in our current Choices issue and in this gallery.

In addition, all fellow travelers were busy filming Insta-Jibs with their cell phones and with Alessandro Izzo, Pierre Hinze and Adrian Warnken, three of them even had real cameras with them to film second angles. We have now edited these recordings into two tracks, which felt like they were running continuously during the trip, in order to heal the mental wounds of the travel group a little. The result can be seen above and in order to process the loss of the footage in the best possible way, we also asked the main actors which clips they were particularly sad about the loss. You can find their answers on our website: https://freedombmx.de/top-stories/sib…

Teresa Grauten – No Problema

December 7, 2021

It’s been awesome seeing so many new names popping up in the women’s side of BMX! Here’s a new one from a trip Teresa Grauten took to Malaga, Spain to ride Ruben‘s bowl and get some laps in at the trails! This is 4 minutes of real solid riding from Teresa, along with guest clips from some familiar faces and a few new ones! It’s safe to say you’ll want to keep Teresa on your radar!

“After Teresa Grauten had to unintentionally end her 2020 road trip because of a broken foot in Málaga, she returned six months later to pick up her car, which was still parked there, and to end the trip.

And if a vacation in Malaga alone wasn’t enough, she was spontaneously on the road with none other than Ruben Alcántara himself to test the Fingers Crossed BMX fullys he designed. The first thing on the program was a visit to the bike park in La Fenasosa, where the 20 “mountain bikes were put through their paces (unfortunately the footage from there was somehow lost). Then we went to BCN to check out all the trail spots there one after the other, and there are really quite a few. In the end, all you can say is: Spain just never disappoints!

Michael Hanfler In New Zealand

November 30, 2021

Oh yeah! This is what we’re talking about. Freedom BMX just dropped this new video featuring Michael Hanfler absolutely shredding trails and concrete parks down in New Zealand! If you’re looking for a fast paced video packed with speed and style for miles, this is definitely for you. The second half is more chill, but this video as a whole should get you fired up. Get on that play button.

“He shat the shovel, but he didn’t shat no deputy! Check out German Verde rider Michael Hanfler absolutely killing it over in New Zealand.

It’s been two years since Michael Hanfler left for Down Under, where the north German frequent flyer initially spent a few months in Australia before he went on to New Zealand.

There the SIBMX driver in spe * is digging new hills even more diligently than in his former adopted home of Bremen – and that really means something! The hill landscape that our trail rider of the year 2019 drives in his new “I Shat The Shovel” video is definitely monstrous. There is a lot of work involved. You will probably look in vain for anything comparable in this country. Perhaps that is also a reason why Mr. Hanfler has still not returned to our latitudes.

But Michael has not only remained true to his passion for digging, as you can see above, he also still knows how to operate his works professionally. A clear case of an impressive performance, as not only the style police click their tongues in recognition. That much is certain, if “I Shat The Shovel” had gone online earlier, the chances of being nominated for Video of the Year at the 2021 freedombmx Awards would have had a good to very good chance.

Well, so be it! As we judge Michael, something like that is probably not that important to him anyway. He’s happy to shovel new jumps in the forest at night and massage them through during the day. And if you really think about it, it really doesn’t take more to be happy. It’s a shame you can’t travel to New Zealand right now! We’d love to take lessons from the Grand Master of Lifehack!

* Michael is waiting for a SIBMX sponsorship as soon as / if he comes back. More on this in his interview, which is currently in progress and will appear here on our website shortly.

52 Year Old BMX Shredder – 101 Skatepark Tricks with Axel Reichertz

November 3, 2021

Now this is awesome! Freedom BMX dropped this new edit featuring 52 year old Axel Reichertz laying down 101 skatepark tricks on his bike and skateboard. Axel lays down dialed flatland combos to grind combos, flips, Vander rolls and more. This is too good to pass up! Check it.

“German BMX legend Axel Reichertz still shreds as hard as ever at 52 years old!

Even at the age of 52, Axel Reichertz is still going really steep! Which is in a way no wonder, because after all, the Trier local, which was featured on the cover of issue 3 of our print magazine in 1994, has always lived according to the motto of skate legend Jay Adams (RIP). And that is well known: “You don’t stop skating because you are getting old, you are getting old because you stopped skating.”

For his new video, Axel filmed 101 tricks on BMX and skateboard in the Projekt X skate hall, which he not only helped to create, but also directed for many years. He deserves double respect: once as a rider and once as someone who has worked behind the scenes for a very, very long time to keep BMX alive. Thank you for that and raise the curtain for Äx!

FTL X Stoned Street Jam In Tallinn

August 23, 2021

Last weekend was Simple Session, but that wasn’t the only good thing going on in Tallinn, Estonia! Here’s a raw cut Freedom BMX put together from the Follow The Leader X Stoned Street Jam that went down as well! This looks like it was a pretty chill vibe, but plenty of bangers went down. Take a look!

“What a week in Tallinn, Estonia! @simplesessionwas a blast, the parties were off the hook and to top things off, @FTL BMX and the local Stoned Street Crew threw a sick street jam on the last day. Here are some of the highlights, including Joe Jarvis yelling at people randomly and destroying every spot we went, as well as Filippakos Kosmidis Best Trick banger. Thanks to @Billy Perry and every one involved for a good time. Can’t wait for next year!
