GoPro – Hero5 Session
The other week we took a look at the new GoPro Hero5 Black that has been released around the world, so we figured it would be a good idea to take a look at the GoPro Hero5 Session, the smaller, more compact version of the Hero5 Black. It’s pretty amazing what can be packed into such a small piece of technology now days. Who would have known way back in the 80’s when they were rocking those beasts of a camera getting sub-par quality that a small, lightweight cube would be able to accomplish the same thing with much, much better results.
The GoPro Hero5 Session features a small greyish, black casing that is not only stylish, but has been made to be waterproof up to 33′ underwater without the case. The front features an ultra wide angle glass lens, with a single button up top to control the power and shutter to record and stop for video or to snap a photo. On the side you can find a cover that seals the SD card port and USB-C and charging port. The camera comes with a case for mounting so you can strap it to your helmet, chest or wherever you want to put the camera.
This camera is capable of filming in 4K, 2.7K, 1440p and 1080p and 10 megapixel photos at up to 30 frames per second. One big upgrade from the previous camera is that it also features image stabilization like the new Hero5 Black, which is a big upgrade considering one of the downfalls of GoPro cameras is how easily the footage could appear shaky in previous models. The camera can shoot photos in single, burst and time lapse modes.
You can also find the new Voice Control feature that allows you to control the camera by simply telling it to snap a photo or start or stop recording. That goes along with the Wi-Fi controls that you can use from their app on your phone to control the camera as well.
Another new feature that goes along with the GoPro app is there new cloud based storage that is available for those of you who are always uploading footage and want to have access to it at any point. You can also use the GoPro app to edit your footage without the need of a computer. You can literally film some clips, pull it all up on your phone, edit and export it to Youtube, Instagram, Facebook or wherever you want to put it. GoPro have completely simplified the process of using a camera and sharing it.
One button to turn on and power off the camera, as well as control the shutter for photos and filming.
The GoPro Hero5 Session does not feature and LCD back screen like the Hero5 Black, so there’s not much to talk about here.
With and without the case that comes with the camera for mounting.
As you can see, they have sealed the inside of the camera with the cover to allow the camera to be waterpoof up to 33 feet under water.
When you purchase the camera, you also get the standard frame, curved adhesive mount, flat adhesive mount, mounting buckle and USB-C cable. However, this camera is compatible with 30+ GoPro mounts and accessories.
The GoPro Hero5 Session is available for $299.99 through GoPro dealers worldwide like Amazon now.
GoPro – Hero 5 Black
Today GoPro released the full details and a look at their new Karma Drone that a lot of people have been curious about for months now. Along with that, they gave us a look at the brand new GoPro Hero 5 Black edition that features a TON of new upgrades from the previous Hero 4 Black. To start things off, they gave it a sleek new look similar to the previous model, but more curves and a grayer color. The Hero 5 sheds it’s protective cases that previous models featured to make it water proof and a littler more rugged and simply made the camera water proof up to a depth of 30 feet. Another pretty rad feature is it now has voice control that comes in 7 different languages. You can ask your camera to snap a photo while recording a video or tell it to start recording among a number of options that make it easier to use.
The Hero 5 Black has a 2″ touch screen display allowing you to easily control, navigate through clips and settings and more. Remember when you had to get a screen attachment for your camera years ago? Pretty crazy how far technology has come in the last decade.
They gave it one button to turn it on and to record with. Can go wrong with simplifying and cleaning things up a bit!
They added in advanced image stabilization, which is pretty damn incredible when you see the footage the camera produces compared to past GoPro Hero’s. Pair that up with their new Karma Handle and you can get some crazy shots. We’ll embed the video clip GoPro dropped today giving you an idea of the quality. Focus on the mountain bikes to get an idea of just how much this feature helps filming with one of these cameras.
The camera films in up to 4K video and 12 megapixels in Single, Burst, and Time Lapse modes, it allows for RAW photos to provide the most flexibility when using advanced
photo editing software like Photoshop. WDR photo mode captures both added detail in shadows and highlights in the scene. They gave the camera exposure control so you can adjust as you see fit for any situation, gave it GPS to help you tag locations of where your photos and videos are filmed as well. This camera also features 3 audio recording ports that all work together to give it a stereo quality sound, which is huge since audio has always been a problem with GoPro cameras.
The Hero 5 Black is available NOW for $399.99 on Amazon that includes what’s pictured above. Definitely a surprise since we figured it would be a little more expensive than that! You can learn more on the GoPro Website.

Where to Buy a Karma Drone?
The Karma Drone is available now through GoPro retailers worldwide and online like AMAZON along with direct from the GoPro website for $799.99!
Overall, we’re really impressed with what GoPro brought to the table for their first drone. It’s compact, sturdy, affordable and creates some amazing shots. The image stabilization really looks awesome and we like that the feature also crosses over to the handle, making it so you can get those clean shots on land and air. We wish the drone would last longer than up to 20 minutes, but we would imagine future versions will increase flight time. Can’t go wrong with this one, though!
