GT Bicycles – Fun Is Serious Business

September 29, 2016

If you like to win free stuff, the crew at GT Bicycles have just launched a new video contest on Instagram and Twitter for you to get in on! Get the full details on how you can win using the hashtag #SRSLYFUN below!

“GT Bicycles, a premium brand of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), recently announced the global launch of Fun Is Serious Business, a user-generated campaign celebrating the brand’s passion for good times on two wheels. Fun Is Serious Business focuses on the real reason everyone rides: pure, simple, fun. It invites everyone from first-timers to seasoned rippers along for the ride to get serious about their fun.

For more than 40 years, GT has not only left its imprint on the industry by building great bikes, but has also exposed the cycling world to good times through one-of-a-kind and edgy campaigns such as “Fast. It’s Corporate Policy” and Big E’s BMX commercials. That vibe is still seen today in unique BMX video edits and the creation of Spoke Tales, a web series chronicling the highs, lows, and funny moments of the GT Factory Racing team’s season.

Through the Fun Is Serious Business campaign, GT is asking fans and consumers alike to keep the good times rolling by posting photos and/or videos using the hashtag #SRSLYFun to show their interpretation of the campaign message. This content will be showcased on FunIsSeriousBusiness.com. Submissions will be judged in 2017 by a panel of GT athletes for a chance to win prizes.

GT’s global roster of Factory Racing athletes, BMX riders and brand ambassadors, ranging from mountain bike legends Hans Rey and Tyler McCaul, to X-Games superstar Ronnie Renner among others, will expand the reach of Fun Is Serious Business to their audiences by incorporating #SRSLYFun into their social content. Additionally, the brand’s newly formed GT Coalition will continue that momentum, sharing their personal take on Fun Is Serious Business with their bike communities and social channels around the world.

It has been rad seeing GT Bicycles back on its game! This past summer some of their team made a trip on over to Europe to bounce around to a handful of countries from France to Germany and back. Here’s the video giving you a look at what the crew got into during their trip while out cruising the street spots and skateparks they came across! Plenty of damn good riding to take in, in this!

“Select members of the GT BMX squad (Brian Kachinsky, Dan Conway, Jason Phelan, and the French brothers Max and Tim Bringer) take a 2-week trip through the European continent. From ledges and baguettes, to bowls, beers, shop stops and espresso…These dudes lived it up on a trip through Paris, Stuttgart, Zurich, & Lyon.” – Ride BMX

Tariq Haouche On GT Bicycles

September 23, 2016

It looks like GT Bicycles have a new rider over in the U.K! We’re not familiar with Tariq Haouche, but after checking out this short but sweet video packed full of grinds and wall rides at Unit 23 Skatepark, it’s easy to see why they picked him up! This is just a quick video, so we’re assuming there’s plenty more to come!

“Tariq Haouche recently got put on GT BIKES. He paid a visit to Scotland for college and In-between classes he came out for a session at unit 23. I can’t wait to see what TARIQ has for the future as he seriously shreds.” – Jason Phelan

GT Bicycles – Jay Cowley: Smoke & Lights

September 6, 2016

GT Bicycles connect over on the U.K, Jay Cowley coming through with a creative new video fueled with a smoke machine and lights, with a hint of fire, at a skatepark. This is definitely a unique video with some great riding. Take a peek!

“Southern UK local and GT Bikes team rider Jay Cowley, came through with this twist on the ever popular smoke and lights video concept, throwing some LED’s, lazers and even fire into the mix. We asked Jay to tell us a little more about the whole thing…

THE LOCATION

“Location of the video edit is a Maverick built park in Tiverton, Devon UK. My local – I helped raise money and planning for.”

THE FILMER

“The man behind the camera is Paul Foster (Tempo Media). Foster being a skateboarding, BMX riding, music making rad dad is just fun and awesome to work with. We both get what we wanna do and get out of something and just have the most fun doing so. But when the time comes he gets the shots and is all over that camera.”

THE SMOKE AND LIGHTS

“So idea for this video edit, was to have some fun and make something a lil’ different but fun to watch, I’m not a rider who’s on the last tech tricks and stuff. So instead we kinda worked with style and effects.

We had a smoke machines with some different coloured smoke, Lazer lights, LED lights, building lights and someone’s great idea to use some petrol from the genny to set fire to stuff.

So all the fun stuff was supplied by my clothing and beer sponsor NEW DEVON ARMY / NEW DEVON BREWING. Jason at NDA is just a big kid! Works hard but plays ten times harder!

I told him we was going to do a video spot lit at the local park, I got a phone call from him saying “I got a Genny, lights, smoke, Lazers and coloured lights – let’s have some fun an beers and see if we can create something”. We set an evening, rocked up to the park had a ride some beers while the sun went down for it to pick up in the camera, so you could see the colour and smoke. I had to ride with just one builder’s light on at a time, so it was pretty dark and really surprised me didn’t get a visit for “the one time” (police) as we were lighting the park up with lights, smoke and on fire till near 3am in the morning.

This video won’t be for everyone as I don’t follow the latest trick combo or fashion much, I just do want I wanna and what feels good to me. Couldn’t care what’s in or out it’s FREESTYLE!

A wise man once said to me, ‘do what feels best for you and not what others want to see from you’ – I have always listened what my dad has had to say.”

THE SONG

“After phone called and texts with Paul, Jason and me about what we had and ideas I was washing dishes one evening – I’m a family man now – I heard the song on the TV, ran into the front room to see what it was and missed it, this happened a few times. Hearing the advert on TV but by the time I got to the TV it had finished, a few weeks had passed and I was putting some new stock out in my shop and J was humming it. A lil’ kid was in the shop an said, “what are you singing the ice song?” I said “Ice song?” and his mum said “sorry he means the magnum advert” – went and looked it up after that and found it was Jack White – John Ball stepper. The reason why I liked this so much was the raw rock sound, not over-worked and to perfect sound. Just felt it would work.”” – DIG BMX
