Joe Simon’s Guide to Speed Ramping

We don’t see a lot of videos from Joe Simon in the BMX world these days, but when he does drop a video it’s always something to take note of. Today we get a little how-to advice on speed ramping in BMX and skateboarding. This piece was put together for a more general group of film makers versus BMX riders, but everyone who is putting out edits these days can definitely use this tutorial to their advantage. Let Joe explain how to use speed ramping and how to make it happen while editing. This has a ton of footage from the Chase Hawk Oakley video and some riding footage from Fun Fun Fun Fest last year for you to enjoy as well.

Joe Simon – Sony FS7 Color Grade Test

We don’t get to see much in the form of BMX videos from Joe Simon these days, but whenever some footage pops up it’s nothing short of amazing. Over the Fun Fun Fun Fest weekend in Austin, Texas, Joe decided to do a little color grade test for his Sony FS7 and ended up capturing some great footage. Check out this video… It’ll suck you in!

“These are some test shots I did with the Sony FS7 to see how it handled high contrast scenes as well as slow-motion shooting. I will be doing a more in-depth write up on the @thedeliverymen blog (the-delivery-men.com) here in the next day or two as well as breaking down this camera vs. the C300.
Graded in Davinci Resolve 11 using many different luts, both custom and prebuilt.
