Connor Lodes OFF Kink

Kink have just announced they have parted ways with Connor Lodes…

Today we unfortunately are announcing that @connor_lodes will no longer be on the Kink Pro Team. We are extremely proud of Connors' Kink Redwood Signature Products we accomplished together, along with the savage footage he has accumulated with Kink over the years. Connor remains a good friend, and we wish him nothing but the best for his future on and off the bike! Here’s some news that might surprise some of you. Kink have parted ways with Connor Lodes and just made the announcement on Instagram. Connor had originally joined the team toward the end of 2014 and had a productive few years. He has been a little under the radar lately healing up from injuries and more, so we’re not sure why they decided to let him go, but it would appear they’re still on good terms. We are curious if they have plans of adding a new rider to the pro team to fill that spot… We could potentially see Casey Starling making the move up from the AM squad, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Let’s take a look at the new Kink Eastman Full Guard Sprocket!

Is it time for a new BMX sprocket? The guys over at Kink have released their new Eastman full guard sprocket for you to check out! This sprocket is fully CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with multiple cut outs for a unique look and weight savings, crank arm reliefs to allow compatibility with all BMX cranks, 2 rotation positions to get extended use out of the sprocket and laser etched logos. The Eastman sprocket is 12.5mm thick at the guard and 8mm thick at the bore hole in the center, is compatible with 19mm, 22mm and 24mm spindles, comes in 25 and 28-tooth sizes, colors of matte black, matte Nightshade and silver with a weight of 5.3 oz. (25 tooth).

Kink – East Coaster DTC Freecoaster

Let’s take a closer look at the new East Coaster DTC Freecoaster hub.

If you caught the new Kink 2017 Frames and Parts Catalog, you might have noticed the updated version of their East Coaster freecoaster hub that has been available for a while now. The East Coaster DTC freecoaster starts out with a 6061-T6 aluminum shell with 60002-2RS sealed cartridge and 7905 Angular Contact sealed catridge bearings for additional side load support and a heat-treated 14mm hollow chromoly axle inside. The 9-tooth driver has a SCE108 Needle Bearing and a 6802-14 Sealed cartridge bearing to keep you pedaling smooth.

This freecoaster hub utilizes the KHE Internals that many freecoaster hubs use, allowing you to adjust the slack with different washers.

What’s new on this hub versus the original is the new Dual Threaded Clutch (DTC) that allows left or right side drivers to be installed without having to open the hub or replace the clutch. If you want to go from Right to Left side drive, you simply switch out the driver and that’s it. If you look closely at the Clutch pictured above, you can see they have threads going in both directions criss-crossing, which allows for both drivers to work.

The DTC Freecoaster is also compatible with Kink’s Rear Nylon hub guard and Universal Drive Side hub guard, so you can protect your hub and spokes from grinds on both sides.

Kink – April Fools Afternoon Session at Rye Airfield

This is no joke… Kink will be throwing a jam at Rye Airfield on April 1st! They will be bringing Chris Doyle, Dan Coller, Tony Hamlin, Jake Petruchik, Casey Starling, Aaron Smith, Tanner Jensen and Jayden Mucha with them! The jam kicks off at noon with a session, prizes, bike demos and more. Then the crew are heading to Locals for some food and drinks afterward! If you’re in the area, this is definitely going to be one you’ll want to check out!
