Recon Tour – Windells Camp, Oregon
Here’s the video from the final stop of the Monster Energy Recon Tour! Check out what went down and who won themselves a spot to the finals that will be held in Florida soon!
“The Recon Tour presented by Replay XD held the last stop at Windells camp located just outside of Sandy, OR. With temperatures in the low 80’s and a slight breeze blowing, the competitors were ready to face up against the outside cement park that Windells camp built to perfection. The park served some of the most original and creative lines that we have witnessed so far on the tour. It was a bitter sweet day as we watched all the smiling competitors come together to make a very memorable last stop. Athletes traveled from all around the country including Canada, Chicago, and various parts of California. The competition was fierce and the day unraveled in a very dramatic fashion. The play open division took eight well deserving athletes to the finals to battle for the last ticket to the Recon Tour finals. New athletes to compete in the Recon Tour like Adam Piatek, Frank Bornhoeft, and Taylor Isaak, were facing up against the veterans of the tour like Sebastian Smith, Derek Kenny, and Cory Clark. In the end it was the rookie Adam Piatek who took out the rest of the field with his effortless style and smooth tricks around the entire park. He utilized the concrete park better than any of his peers and did not make one mistake during his run. It was a very well respected and deserving run to beat out other athletes who had an arsenal of tricks like double whips, flip whips, and front flips. Adam is now the tenth member who will be getting an all expense paid trip to Florida and competing against the best athletes that the Recon Tour has to offer.

Monster Army Recon Tour – Skatelab
Here’s a look at what went down during the Skatelab skatepark stop on the Monster Recon Tour! The kids out in California have definitely been getting wild on the box jumps at these contests, but this one looks like it was more geared towards the street guys this time around. Take a peek at what went down!
“SOLANA BEACH, Calif., July 30, 2013 — The Monster Army Recon Tour presented by Replay XD held the ninth stop at the famous Skatelab in Simi Valley, CA. The Recon Tour blew the doors off the building by hosting the first BMX contest in over a decade. The course was street oriented and challenged the riders to show their technical skills on the stair sets, down rails, and the bowl on the upper level of the park.
Emmett Thomas, who is no stranger to the Recon Tour series, showed his technical skills and walked away with the win in the 13-15 age group. Next up was the 16 + division where a battle for 1st was brewing between Cory Clark from Palmdale, CA and Andrew Coleman from Benson, AZ. Cory barely edged out Andrew in the end and claimed the top podium position and all the bragging rights. The Play Open division was really stacked and all the riders had their work cut out for them. Brian Fox from Deerfield Beach, FL impressed the judges with his speed and power on the course. He had technical tricks backed by big lines and transfers that no other competitor was doing. Brian earned the 1st place podium finish, but because he already had a wildcard spot in the Play Am Finals from an earlier Florida series, 2nd place finisher Ed Percival will be taking home the golden ticket and the 9th spot to compete in the Play AM finals.
The day wrapped up with a rail jam contest on the stair features with the winner taking home a Hyper frame. The athletes put their bodies on the line by doing some of the most technical tricks we witnessed all day. Dave Canary took home the Hyper frame with a fakie full cab down the wedge gap in the last seconds of the competition.

Monster Recon Tour: Premises Park
The Monster Recon Tour made it’s way to Tucson, Arizona for the Premises Skatepark where it looks like a ton of awesome riding went down. It’s crazy to see how good kids are now days and this video is a good example showing you just how good the upcoming scene in Arizona is!
“The eighth stop of the Monster Army Recon Tour presented by Replay XD at Premises Park was insane! Three levels of screaming fans rattled the scaffolding throughout the building so hard that no one even realized they were in the middle of a full on monsoon. Ryan Guettler slayed it on the mic (as usual) and made sure everyone lost their voices by the end of the contest. We have never witnessed this much energy and excitement from the fans and athletes and Arizona definitely proved to us that BMX is here to stay.
The 13-15 age group kicked off the contest, setting the tone for a day all about good music, crazy riding and straight raw talent. Antonio Chavez from Chandler, AZ is one of the youngest cats around but knows how to win contests. Next up was the 16+ group where River Walden proved he was worthy of the top spot in a division full of flair whips and front flips. Finally we reached the Play Open division with 27 competitors all battling for the golden ticket to make the Recon Tour Play Am finals at Mike Spinner’s house. The energy and excitement in the building was bursting through the seams. Mother Nature wanted to get involved and say hello with a massive monsoon that put us in a rain delay for 30 minutes. This was the perfect time for the most insane product toss of the tour with the DJ dropping beats and Ryan Guettler even stage diving from the second story of the Park. The rain stopped and the contest continued with the most exciting and drama filled finals we have held yet. Everyone was putting their body on the line with huge transfers and endless combos of tricks. The drama continued with Wesley Hark and Alex Hiam going head to head throwing everything on the line. Wesley had the fire in his eyes and proved that he was not walking away without the golden ticket. He threw down the biggest barrel roll transfer anyone has ever done in the park to date. He earned his ticket and became the 8th rider to make it to the Play Am Finals.
Special thanks to our tour partners Monster Army, Hookit, Replay XD, A3, Vans, XRyderz, Madcatz, Pro-Tec, Movietickets.com, Hyper BMX, Mike Spinner, Ryan Guettler, David Peraza, Fat Tony, Ian Abbott and his Premises Park, and every single person who volunteered from the Premises staff to make this such an amazing event.
