September 8, 2015

cliff-hanger-bmx-trails-600x

Over the years we have seen a good amount of videos coming from a set of trails in Sao Paulo, Brazil that have always mesmerized us due to just how gnarly they are and that they appear to be smack dab in the middle of a busy part of town. Earlier today we received an email from Edimar Miranda with a handful of photos of him throwing down at the Caracas Trails that we couldn’t pass up posting up! So, hit the link below to check out the full photogallery!

Rob Ridge – Greatest / Latest / Favorites Vol. 1

September 8, 2015

We are always so stoked when a BMX video from one of the most under rated and quite possibly the best BMX ramp rider in the world, Rob Ridge, drops! Rob just dropped this banger of a video that’s filled with a ton of insanely technical ramp and flatland tricks that really don’t make much sense as to how the hell he does what he does, but it’s amazing. This is what we call front brake magic! Hit play, because this is a MUST SEE video!

Jay Dalton Interview

September 7, 2015

One thing we really like about doing The Union lately is having the chance to watch a lot of talented riders putting out their own series of videos that are more than just trick, trick, trick and trick. We get to see a lot of personalities and get a little glimpse into how other BMX riders are living their lives. Thanks to Youtube, this has been increasingly more and more popular and it seems like every day there’s a new channel to subscribe to. One rider in particular that really has caught our attention lately is Jay Dalton, between his less than serious approach to BMX and his undoubtable talent to go from jib tricks like peg chings to hucking backflip tailwhips, you don’t really quite know what you’re going to see when he drops a new video. We were curious jus what Jay’s story was, so we hit him with some questions. Let’s see what he had to say!

How To Patch A BMX Tube With A Glueless Patch Kit

September 4, 2015

Want to learn how to patch a BMX tube? This video and the guide below should help you get it done!

With the way BMX riders ride their bikes, it’s inevitable that there’s going to be a flat tire or two… or three.. four… five… (We’ve had those days before, too). Sometimes the tube isn’t a complete blow out and a tiny pin hole can be repaired. We caught a small pinch flat and figured instead of tossing in a new tube, we would do a quick how-to on patching a BMX tube instead of replacing one. As you can see from the video, we’re using the Flybikes Cobra tube, which speeds up this process even more because it has eliminated the need to actually take our wheel off. So, check out the quick video above to see how to patch a BMX tube, then we’ll take you through the steps below with photos and text to help show you how to patch a BMX tube in more detail…

Insight: Spotsesh App

September 3, 2015

spotsesh-logo-bmx

When it comes to BMX, spot hunting has always been a part of the challenge. Whether it’s finding street spots, local parks or trails, there’s something about knowing and remembering where all the spots are or finding new ones that you never knew existed that makes it fun. Over the years riders have had different ways of logging spots to remember spots they rode or potentially ride in the future. I mean, how often have you driven by a place and thought “I need to go ride that spot!” then a few weeks later you drive by again and you’re like “I still need to ride that spot. I forgot”? With apps becoming more and more apart of everyones lives making things quite a bit easier, it’s no surprise that BMX riders and skaters are cooking up some rad ideas, too. We were recently introduced to the Spotsesh App and we were really stoked on it. We figured you guys might be into it too, so let’s take a closer look!

What Is 7075-T6 and 6061-T6 Aluminum

September 2, 2015

7075-t6-aluminum

Last week we went over what is 4130 chromoly and heat-treating. We were thinking it would be rad to continue this and talk about a few other types of metals and materials that are used in BMX, so today we’re going to talk a little bit about 7075-T6 aluminum and 6061 Alumimum, which we find frequently on a lot of parts like stems and sprockets, but do you know what the numbers actually mean? Well, here’s your chance to find out…
